This was one of those perfect weekends, where our kids were angels and I checked almost everything off of my list. It's been a long time since I felt this accomplished and self-satisfied, so I had to tell you about it, right? FRIDAY | I didn't feel great on Friday morning, but I went on to work and got as much done as I could in the early morning hours. It turns out I had a 24 hour bug and was back in bed by lunch. Polly took a long nap and gave her mama plenty of time to rest, but I didn't really feel great until the next morning. SATURDAY | Josh and the girls had planned to spend the day at his mom's watching football, so I tried to think about all of the little, annoying things I never have time to finish. I made a mental list and as soon as I put Polly down for her morning ...

Weekend Update | My First Night Away From Polly
It's been a long time since I recapped a weekend, but this was a good one. I didn't take many photos, but the ones I did take were good. My small group has been planning a lake weekend for the last few months, but I wasn't sure I could pull it off. I haven't left Polly overnight before now and the next few weeks at home are so busy. Josh was so encouraging, so I left work a little early on Friday and met seven other girls at the most beautiful home on Lake Mitchell. Our dear friend, Martha, was in charge of the food and it was all amazing! She made an insane charcuterie spread, chicken salad croissants, and two kinds of soup for dinner. Then for breakfast, we had breakfast sliders on hawaiian rolls (OMG) and for lunch, we ate all the leftovers from the previous two meals. We covered ...
Weekend Update | May 2018
It's been a long time since I shared a full-on weekend update, but since I'm trying so hard to return to the "real life documenting" of old-school blogging and I'm super behind on sharing life with you, how about a peek into all the things I did over the past three days?! We've had a dance competition on our calendar since early October, but my small group was planning an overnight retreat for this past weekend and I was so bummed that I wasn't going to be able to make it. I was experiencing a major case of FOMO, but there was no way I could send Ella off to compete without me (not to mention that I didn't want to) and I couldn't figure out how to make both things work. By some miracle, when the schedule came out last week, our team was only scheduled to dance on Sunday afternoon! We ...
November Moments
November has been such a good month for us as a family -- we celebrated countless birthdays, hosted our first Thanksgiving (and there were only a cool 45 people here), welcomed out of town family, watched Ella dance in our first parade of the holiday season, picked up our Christmas tree, and loved on the sweetest new Sister Cousin ever. I can't believe we're only two days away from the busiest and best season of the year, so I'm stuffing this post full of all of our favorite November moments, iPhone style. Now it's officially time for Christmas! ...
Weekend Update | May
Would you believe me if I told you I packed my camera for our weekend trip, but didn't take it out of my bag a single time? There is always a pull to document every single moment of every important event, but there is an even bigger part of me that just wants to relax and enjoy our time together. Although Ella and I spend many days together because of dance, it is a rare occasion for us to take a road trip without any other companions. We did split a hotel room with two other dancers and their moms and, obviously, we were with a huge group for most of the weekend -- but we spent more one on one time together this past weekend than we have in a while. It was nice to have no other obligations or responsibilities and just enjoy watching her dance and letting her have control over our ...
Weekend Update | March
This past weekend was a sight for sore eyes. We had a lot going on, but it was so much fun and I got to spend it with my favorite people on the planet. Life has been so busy lately that I feel like we've all been passing each other in the hall, but not getting to spend any quality time together. This weekend was the exception and I tried to soak it up as best I could. Friday \\ I took the day off after a few brutal weeks in the office and it was exactly what I needed. I went back and forth about being productive and being lazy, but I found a happy balance and had a wonderful day to myself. I organized Ella's dance bag (a secret obsession) over coffee and my dad built a fire for me before heading out to the barn. I got all of my housework done, a few blog posts written and cooked a ...
Weekend Update | January
Did anybody else have the best weekend ever? We didn't have any big plans and we stayed pretty close to home, but it was so nice to soak up some quality time outside the guise of a holiday celebration. We have been so busy since our move and coupled with a thousand parties and obligations over the holidays, we haven't had very much unscheduled time together. This weekend will go down as a perfect one. We haven't made any significant purchases for the house yet and we need a lot of furniture. My parents had wrought iron barstools in the kitchen (you can catch a glimpse in the background), but I knew I wanted something without a back, that would slide completely underneath the bar top. I ran into TJMaxx on Wednesday night to grab something completely unrelated and I saw these metal ...
