This was one of those perfect weekends, where our kids were angels and I checked almost everything off of my list. It's been a long time since I felt this accomplished and self-satisfied, so I had to tell you about it, right? FRIDAY | I didn't feel great on Friday morning, but I went on to work and got as much done as I could in the early morning hours. It turns out I had a 24 hour bug and was back in bed by lunch. Polly took a long nap and gave her mama plenty of time to rest, but I didn't really feel great until the next morning. SATURDAY | Josh and the girls had planned to spend the day at his mom's watching football, so I tried to think about all of the little, annoying things I never have time to finish. I made a mental list and as soon as I put Polly down for her morning ...

A Sweet Weekend
I saw so many posts on Friday about lowering your expectations for Mother's Day weekend. On the one hand, I understood the sentiment -- as women, we sometimes build up how an experience should go and when it isn't perfect, we start to pick apart the day and our people and the gifts and it doesn't end well for anyone. On the other hand, it's hard not to have high expectations for a day that celebrates the core of who we [some of us] are. Our family had a very simple weekend, but it was exactly what I had hoped for, and reminded me why it is I love this mothering gig in the first place. Sophie had a friend over on Friday night and while they were upstairs playing, I got a call from my Grandmother. My Granmom is a spectacular woman -- I'll have to tell you about the time she turned me ...
Project 365: Week 47 // Weekend Update
11/18: Josh was still sporting his ridiculous mustache. In case you aren't friends with either of us on Facebook, this one deserves a story. He had a full beard for no-shave November and decided he couldn't take it. He shaved everything but the mustache on Saturday night as a joke, but I had too extreme of a reaction that he decided to keep it and drive me crazy. Finally on Tuesday, I pitched a royal birthday-girl and some tears were involved (I'm not proud of that) and he gave up. He knew how obnoxious it was, but he loves to embarrass himself and anyone around him and thinks it's funny that other people might have taken the stache seriously. 11/20: My 33rd birthday, even though I spent most of the day thinking it was my 34th. I wore this super cute new F21 sweater to work and then ...
Project 365: Week 43 // Weekend Recap
So this post should've gone up yesterday, but everything about Monday was a bust. My car wouldn't start, so I rode to Ella's program at school with Josh and assumed we'd get everything in working order when we got back. We had thirty minutes between her assembly and her lunch, so we flew home to jump my car off and so that Josh could get back to work. He got a teleconference call as we pulled into the drive and didn't get to worry with my car right away. I ended up driving his truck back to the elementary school and having lunch with my girl. When I got home he told me that he couldn't get it cranked, so I was stranded at home. Let me interject that I am sick as a dog and that I had a HUGE project at work due yesterday. I had planned to be in the office by noon and work late until it was ...
Project 365: Week 42 // Weekend Recap
10/14: Enjoying Cracker Barrel for dinner after our terribly lazy Sunday. Sophie loves playing the peg game and SD & Ella worked all of the puzzles in the menu. 10/15: I didn't take a single picture, but we FINALLY got DirecTV installed and I'm happy to say The Walking Dead has been watched in this house. 10/16: I went into work a minute late so I could take the girls to school and one of the benefits was seeing this precious face. 10/17: My mid-week, long run -- five miles at 12 minutes or under on my lunch break. Thank goodness for locker room showers! 10/18: Josh has had this Pearl Jam song on the brain for the last few days and wouldn't stop singing/humming it. I finally broke down and listened to the whole album on my way home from work. Then I realized that it came out my ...
Project 365: Week 41 // Weekend Recap
I'm thinking about doing my P365 posts a little different for the remainder of the year. I don't love to blog on the weekends and I have a hard time remembering to post them on Sundays (like I still need to go back and post last week's photos!) and it's hard to schedule them ahead of time since the photos aren't even complete until sometime on Saturday. I'm thinking a Monday weekly/weekend recap might be in order. 10/8: I made a quick run to Krispy Kreme before church on Sunday morning. Everyone thought it was a big deal that I drove twenty minutes in the opposite direction before church, but they are so much better when they're fresh! We had breakfast in Bible study and our oven was on the fritz. What's a girl to do? 10/9: Ella had her first official kindergarten field trip. They ...
Bright, Bright, Sunshiny Day
It was the perfect morning to spend at the zoo. We rode the carousel {or watched from the sidelines}, took a train ride, got in the pen with the kangaroos, went BACK to the aviary {against mommy's better judgment}, looked at the pretty pink flamingos, watched Simba and Nala sunbathe, pretended we were the "biggest animal at the zoo", and sang Taylor Swift all the way home. We also managed to grab Zaxby's for lunch, pick up a movie for mommy and a movie for Ella, and take a nice long nap. ...
My Kind of Saturday…
Yesterday was a good day. The kind of day that makes me happy I live in my little rock house, married to my best friend, with a golden-haired princess running around and a tinier version hanging out near my ribcage. We had no plans, no agenda, nothing to do. We wore our pajamas most of the day. I only left the house once. We watched countless stupid movies, listened to music and read books. This is how we would spend our days if I got to stay at home with my littles. We slept 'til seven and made pigs-in-a-blanket for breakfast. and decaf coffee, which I thoroughly look forward to on the weekends. We ate pretend ice cream. All day long. SD & I got back in bed and watched Dick Tracy and My Girl, while Ella cooked in her kitchen, watched some cartoons and read the ...
