It's time for the Speak Up Link Up again today (by sure to visit Amber and Annie) and I'm a little behind. It isn't that I haven't been thinking about how this would go, I just wasn't prepared for March to show up so quickly! For whatever reason, I've been thinking that the vlog would go live AFTER my trip this weekend and I had plans for Josh to help me film a video en route. Instead, I found myself vlogging from the car again on my way into work this morning. Several years ago, I wrote a post called "to tell you the truth" and then revisited it again a couple of years later. It's kind of a silly idea, to be brutally honest and share some random facts about things going on in your life, but I kind of loved it and both posts got a great response. I thought since the topic this month was ...

Flashback Five on Friday
Once upon a time I had a hard-drive. On it was my entire life. All of my graphic design work, every photograph from the girls life and countless home movies. Yes, I had much of the content uploaded and preserved on the blog, but there was still plenty that only existed in that one place. A little over a year ago, I plugged the hard-drive into my computer and the light didn't come on. Once day it worked and the next day it didn't. For months, I didn't do anything about it. I secretly dreaded hearing a computer guru tell me that all of those moments were lost. I felt like I was putting off the inevitable. In the meantime, I worked to build up my design work again and recreated so much work for new clients. A few weeks ago, I buckled and asked our IT guy at work to take a look at it and tell ...
Speak Up: February
It's a weird thing, blogging. I find myself squished between the "writers" and the "reviewers". I'll never be that girl that writes poetic words or harbors dreams of a book someday, but I hope that I'm not simply giving you a list of things we did and calling it writing. This is a space where I accumulate words -- for myself sometimes, but mostly so that my children will be able to read the story of their youth -- so they will know who their parents were outside of discipline and daily chores -- and to preserve the memories and moments that might otherwise slip through the cracks. For those of you who are visiting because of the vlog link-up, thanks so much for coming by. I hope you aren't turned off by the definite "mommy blog" vibe going on over here and I want to say thank you for ...
Ella’s Last Christmas
Months ago, Ella's class started preparing for their Christmas program. She talked to me about what songs they were singing and that there would be tryouts for some solos. We laughed because they were singing The Chipmunk Song and Last Christmas, both of which she knew by heart because we are holiday music obsessed over here. She even talked about trying out, but I wasn't sure she would go through with it. We all know she loves to perform on stage, but singing is a little different. She can be shy when she wants to and I thought her nerves would win out. Well imagine my surprise when she came home to tell me she was singing a verse of Last Christmas all by herself! Of course, we whipped out the original version by Wham and she said, "No, mom. Taylor Swift sings it!" Well, ok. No wonder she ...
The Big Guy
Sunday after church, we drove into town to meet up with the Big Guy himself. My girls had been talking about it all week and couldn't wait to tell him all about what they wanted {Ella asked for a guitar and Sophie wants a pink bicycle}. Taz was mostly concerned about seeing Mrs. Claus. She's been asking about how old she is and if she would be there and where the North Pole is and if we could visit. She was a little bummed not to be able to "love on her", but Santa did tell us that she was back home baking him some yummy cookies and Taz seemed satisfied with that. We actually waited in line for almost two hours (thank goodness there were enough adults around to take shifts), but all three of our littles did just perfect! Of course I was sad we didn't have any screamers this year, but I'm ...
NYC Revisited | Strawberry Fields
I decided that while we were gone, we would re-visit our last trip to NYC, especially for those of you who weren't hanging around in 2011. When we're back in town, there will be dance recital recaps, beach fun and new adventures in the Big Apple. You can find this original post here. December 13, 2011: For as long as I can remember, I've been a Beatles fan. More specifically, a Lennon fan. My dad and I used to listen to their music together when I was a girl. I have the albums on disk and on vinyl. For my sixteenth birthday, my mom won tickets to a Beatles tribute band concert and I could not have been happier. I visited London (would still like to visit Liverpool) when I was 14 and loved seeing the memorabilia everywhere and walking where they walked. And I've always wanted to visit the ...
The Disney Surprise
If you've been reading my blog for more than six months, then you know what a big surprise we had in store for the girls on Christmas morning. Unfortunately for you, it's been a long time since then with no photographs or updates on how well that all went over. I decided that since it's finally 90 degrees outside, we could all cool down with a few posts from our wonderful week between Christmas and New Year's Day. For those of you who are new to the blog, let's recap. Josh & I took Ella to Walt Disney World in the spring before her third birthday. It was a spur of the moment decision that followed an almost month of work-related travel for me. I was exhausted and I missed my family like crazy and we got the awesome opportunity to stay in an all-expenses-paid time-share not far from ...
Our Big Surprise!
My girls were beyond thrilled with their Christmas gift this year. The most exciting part was the instant gratification; we were leaving in two short days! The video of them "opening" their gift is precious, but we've been celebrating Christmas, taking down our tree, packing and driving for the last 72 hours, so I haven't had time to even think about uploading images and video yet. I have plans to fill your January full of Christmas cheer and our Disney Experience, so bear with us just a few more days. We are currently soaking up the Happiest Place on Earth with our favorite two people in the world! ...
