Your support of this blog is always appreciated! One of the things I wanted to do more of in 2015 is to share step-by-step tutorials with printable design files, so you can create some of our fun crafts yourself! Usually the girls are full of ideas and know exactly what they want to share with their classmates. Maybe it's because we started talking about it so early in the year, but they were pretty open to ideas this time around. I scoured Hobby Lobby as soon as their Valentine's Day goodies were on the shelves and found some really cute ring pops that the girls loved. They are a little smaller than ...

A Valentine’s Day Tutorial
My girls LOVE a good craft. I will admit that Ella has asked why we don't just buy a box of Valentines at the grocery store, but when I offer a craft as an alternative, she jumps right on board. There is nothing better that playing with paper and scissors when it's too cold to go outside. Since the girls will exchange Valentines at school and at dance, we opted for a few different designs. Ella's cards were appropriate for both groups, but for Sophie's friends, we had to make two different treats. Here is how we turned this basket of goodies into three super-cute Valentine's Day treats for our friends! For Sophie's "school" we decided to give fruit squeezes because there is a pretty wide range of ages. I bought strawberry Go-Go Squeezes and made a printable file that says "Hey, ...
Valentine’s Day is Over??
I forgot to share what my little bitties got for Valentine's Day. Better late than never, right? It isn't a huge day around our house, but I do like to help my girls make something special for their friends and I always buy them a sweet little treat to open at breakfast or dinner, depending on when the holiday falls. This year, SD and I kind of got our wires crossed and he ended up with V-Day plans that didn't include me. It was kind of funny after I got over having my feelings hurt. From now on I'll know that when I say "no Valentine's" to indicate no gifts, it can easily be interpreted as "no Valentines" as in let's not celebrate at all. They should write a manual on how men and women speak different languages! Instead, we had yummy crock-pot chicken tacos that I put on that ...
Happy ♥ Day!
These are the girls Valentine's cards to share with their friends at school today. The lollipop isn't on the printed cards, we punched holes above and below Ella's hands and stuck a Jolly Rancher sucker through the card. I saw the idea on Design Mom last year and couldn't wait to use it this year. They turned out even better than I hoped! {Love Letters will be posted tomorrow since today is Valentine's Day} ...
The Big Day
We've never made Valentine's Day a "big" day in the monetary sense of the word. I don't necessarily want expensive gifts or flowers that wilt, but I do love spending the day together and making it special for our little princess. We try to make holidays special for her, even if they don't benefit us much and any excuse for us to buy her a gift, is always a good one. She requested a picnic for breakfast, so we spread out a quilt in the living room floor and ate there while watching our morning cartoons. Since Sunday mornings are hard on us anyway, we opted for pink, strawberry muffins instead of something more involved. They were yummy and I ate a few too many butter-slathered ones myself. We gave Beemer a toy FULL of peanut butter and treats to buy us a little time to eat ...
Yummy!
Before the snow changed our direction for Friday, Ella and her friends exchanged Valentine's goodies and ate yummy heart-shaped cookies at school. You saw the crafts we made for her friends last week, but here are a few pictures of the treats she picked up at school and dance class. Ella all ready to head out Friday morning. Enjoying sugar sprinkle cookies, courtesy of mom. Ella on the couch Friday afternoon, ready to dig in! Pretty princess rings from Madeline. Her first adventure with Fun Dip, from Grace. Fortunately for mommy she wasn't a fan and Sophie & I got to finish it off. The ring pop did not disappoint! Now we're all jacked up on sugar and enjoying a Valentine's Day nap. Have a happy heart day. ...

Valentine’s Day Date: Updated
So, this year I wasn't the one with a hot date for Valentine's Day. It was Ella's turn! Since the fall, Ryan and I have tried to make a conscious effort to get the kids together at least once a month for a play date. They are so sweet to one another and play so well together. I swear I should invest in a digital video recorder just to show you how stinking adorable they are when they're together. Ella has been beside herself for the whole week about going over there and she wasn't going to let a little snow and ice cramp her style! She came in my room early this morning to tell me that there was still snow on the ground and wanted me to check the weather for ice on the roads. After much contemplating {and an equal amount of begging} we set out over the mountain and made it safely to our ...
