This is what we do at night. For whatever reason, Ella finds it absolutely fascinating to rub my bare belly. Consequently, it feels fabulous so I don't generally complain. She requested special pink lotion {Johnson & Johnson}, so Garan picked her up some at the grocery store and she's been rubbing it on Sophie Kae ever since. I have the most well-moisturized baby bump in the country. ...

Nursery Update | Rock and Roll
I was in love with this wire rocker found at an antique mall a year or so ago. It was part of a mismatched set that I picked up for $75, that included a table and two other matching chairs. This chair has been in the craft room all along with a quick and easy cushion I added, but it was never really functional. I knew I wanted something different for Sophie's nursery, so Garan & I decided to make new cushions and find an ottoman to complete the look. Lucky for me, K had an old ottoman that was in storage that was the perfect size and match. The legs still need to be painted cream to match the chair, but the slipcover turned out great! We used an old chenille bedspread and mom made a simple slipcover. I liked the fringe from the coverlet so much, that I cut it off and hot glued it ...
Big Sister in Training
This is the face of a VERY happy girl at our local hospital on Monday night. She & Garan met me after work for a spin around the mall, a food-court dinner and sibling class. This photo was right after Ella got her official name tag and just before she asked us to go so she could do the class by herself. We toured the labor and delivery rooms {this is actually the room I was in while laboring with Ella} and talked all about the baby warmer and the soft baby blankets. We also peeked down the hall and saw the c-section rooms {where we'll be} and the waiting room where our SD will hold Sophie Kae up for the family to see. Then we headed upstairs for a peek at the postpartum rooms {that have been COMPLETELY renovated since Ella's birth} and she was tickled that daddy will be ...

A Wreath for Sophie – TuTu Cute!
I knew I wanted something pretty special to hang on the hospital door when sweet Sophie got here, but I wasn't sure what. Ella had a wooden plaque with her name on it that my dad made and it was beautiful. The problem was, it was loud! Every time a nurse came to visit at two o'clock in the morning, the plaque wiggled around on the door and woke us ALL up. Ella has a rag wreath on the door of her room that I made last year and I really love it. I decided to do a similar wreath for Sophie's room and we'd use it for the hospital, too. It turned out perfect and appears to be silent when opening and closing the nursery door. The cast of characters for this morning's craft-time: tulle wreath, 50 cent wooden letter from Hobby Lobby, sponge brushes, acrylic craft paint, Mod Podge and clear ...

It’s a Gift!
Sophie has been getting a few gifts here lately and I've actually been meaning to post about all of them. Just like I've been meaning to post pictures from last weekend that have been on my camera all week and just never made it to the computer. Is it too much for a pregnant girl to ask her camera to do the dirty work for her? Gosh, that would be so easy! Anyway... I got a lovely gift this afternoon from my sweet friend Krystal and I must say it is about the cutest thing I have ever seen. I cannot wait to put her in this and only this (save a diaper, of course) and take a picture of her snuggled in her crib. My mouth is watering just thinking about it and I couldn't help but share! ...
