Big Girl
Somebody's been sleeping in her very own bed. Sophie started out in a bassinet in our room, just like Ella. At two weeks, she started getting a little fussy and spent a few nights in between us in the big bed. On Friday night, we decided to give her crib a try and see what happened. What happened, was four to five hours of sleep at a time and only one nursing session in the middle of the night! We had an even better night on Saturday that included a six hour stretch. Last night she got up twice, but we are still sleeping much better around here. Life is starting to return to a new normal and we are loving every second of it. ...

Learning Curve
There is definitely a learning curve with two kids and the bad news is I'm behind it. It is funny how going from no kids to one was an adjustment, but going from one to two is a complete lifestyle change. You are so used to what you can accomplish with just one and it doesn't dawn on you until it's too late that you need an extra pair of hands. I can hardly manage lunch and a bath before I get the girls down for nap. Ella has completely taken over the dog chores, because every time I sit down to nurse, Beemer scratches the front door. I have rarely looked appropriate for company and I'm constantly embarrassed by my state of dress, or lack thereof. On Thursday, I attempted an outing with both girls by myself. I needed to exchange a baby gift at a local boutique and wanted to drop a ...
Sophie’s Sneak Peek
I thought I'd share these sneak peek images I got from K today. There are many more where these came from and these don't even show my two favorite locations!! I can't wait to share more when they are finished and give you the final nursery reveal. Enjoy. ...
Double Chin
Just in case you needed a fix. Sophie, I'm so sorry that you inherited my chin. Your daddy and I were talking this morning about your dark hair and I commented that it had a bit of red in it. Then I said, "You think we brought home the wrong baby?" {in jest, of course}, and he said, "Look at that chin!" He's right, by the way. ...
Baby Bathtime
It's tradition around here for grandmothers to bathe the babies for the first time once they're home. My Gran-mom bathed me & K and Gran bathed Ella on her first day home. We invited both grandmothers over and Nana helped me give Sophie her first bath. She did really well with the head-washing, but was not thrilled about being naked! We did the bathing in the sink and Nana rinsed her in my mom's giant green plastic cookie bowl (where Ella was bathed, too!) Ella was a big helper. She dried her off, and even brushed her hair! We've done things a little differently since then and have finally figured out what works best for us. I laughed because it is definitely easier to bathe her by myself than with fifteen people watching, helping, photographing and laughing. ...
