I am so not prepared for you. Yes, there are still eleven weeks left until you find your way onto my calendar, but I usually start training in October. Here I am, eight whole weeks behind. The timing is funny because I asked Josh just a few days ago if it would make me a total wimp for not registering this year. I know myself, though, and I'll be profoundly disappointed. I'll mope about being that girl that ran it two years in a row and then turned into a quitter. Race Day // 2013 As fate would have it, our office decided to put together a men's and women's relay team to run the full marathon and I was asked to take the long leg. It's broken into 5 sections - two 3 mile legs, two 6 mile legs and an 8 mile leg. I tried to convince myself that I would be just as happy about the 8 mile leg ...

Mercedes 1/2 Marathon Recap // Take Two
This was my second year to run the Mercedes Half-Marathon and I really expected to do so much better than I did last year. My training started off really well, but was quickly derailed in December. I had been running a much better pace than in months before, but I got the flu and was pretty much in bed for two straight weeks. Even after I was back at work and moving around, it was another full week before I felt up to exercising. Fast forward a few weeks and we were battling snow and ice and with Josh traveling during those days off with the girls, it was near impossible to run, not to mention dangerous. My longest run before the race was terrible. It was the worst run I've ever had to date and I was very discouraged. The following week, I ran 8 miles and had very few problems. It is so ...
Project 365: Week 41 // Weekend Recap
I'm thinking about doing my P365 posts a little different for the remainder of the year. I don't love to blog on the weekends and I have a hard time remembering to post them on Sundays (like I still need to go back and post last week's photos!) and it's hard to schedule them ahead of time since the photos aren't even complete until sometime on Saturday. I'm thinking a Monday weekly/weekend recap might be in order. 10/8: I made a quick run to Krispy Kreme before church on Sunday morning. Everyone thought it was a big deal that I drove twenty minutes in the opposite direction before church, but they are so much better when they're fresh! We had breakfast in Bible study and our oven was on the fritz. What's a girl to do? 10/9: Ella had her first official kindergarten field trip. They ...
Run, Mommy, Run!
Saturday was the big day. A little over eight weeks since I started running, I ran my first race. I was really excited, but really nervous, too. I've never done anything like this, so I had no idea what to expect, how to prepare or if I would embarrass myself! My best friend ended up not being able to join me, so I ran with my uncle Heath and his wife Susan. Josh was out of town for the weekend (Final Four in NOLA, of course), so he texted me throughout the morning to keep in touch. I've been pretty consistently running a 10 1/2 minute mile outside and a little longer than that on the treadmill. As much as I would love to be faster than that, I'm just not there yet. My goal was to run in about 33 minutes, giving myself 11 minutes per mile. We started in a huge crowd of people, but after ...
