I wish I could tell you that I read exactly 52 books in 52 weeks, but it didn't quite shake down like that. Does it count that I started 52 books this year? I might not have met my goal exactly, but I'm pretty happy with myself. I do wish that number could have been a little larger, but I know this was a pretty big accomplishment for a crazy busy working mom. I debated whether to increase that number for next year or whether to set a different kind of reading goal altogether. I'm planning to share a bit of a reading recap for 2016 on the blog next week, so I hope to have that goal hammered out before ...

Collaboreads | The Lovely Bones

This is one of those months where I was insanely excited about the prompt for Collaboreads. I remember seeing the hard copy of this book when we packed up the house in October and thinking that I wanted to read it again soon. That was before I realized Josh would hold all of my worldly possessions hostage in the pod or I would have saved a stack of books to read over the next few months. As it stands, I used an extra Audible credit to download the audio version and only later realized that Alice Sebold herself, reads the novel. That, my friends, is what we call a happy accident. I read this ...
What I Read in November
Warning: Affiliate links appear in the following post. Although shopping What I Read in November won’t cost you any additional dollars, it might mean that I download a few extra audio books this month. Your support of my reading habit is always appreciated! After reading a ton of books back in October, I was hoping to have another book filled month. It turns out that moving is exhausting and I spent far more time napping and watching movies this month than I did reading. I have no regrets, given how many books I've completed this year, but I'm going to work extra hard in December to finish as many books as possible. I am looking forward to a book related year-in-review post and to finally decide what my favorite book of 2016 really was! I’m using the following scale, courtesy of ...
Collaboreads | The Wonder
Yesterday was Collaboreads day, but I was trapped in a tiny room with Sophie for 3+ hours and never got a chance to publish my post. I guess it's a good thing since I didn't actually finish the book until after the appointment was over anyway. Amber is taking a bloggy hiatus, but you can visit Rachel to see what everyone else read this month and to find out a little bit about this bookish link up. The criteria for today was to read a "foodie" book. I know what you're thinking, this doesn't exactly fit the bill. I actually downloaded the audiobook version of My Life in France and had every intention of reviewing it for today's yesterday's post, but I didn't get started in time and I knew there was no way I could finish. The Wonder was my BOTM selection a few months back and I had forgotten ...
What I Read in October
Warning: Affiliate links appear in the following post. Although shopping What I Read in October won’t cost you any additional dollars, it might mean that I download a few extra audio books this month. Your support of my reading habit is always appreciated! October was the busiest month I can remember in recent history and, somehow, I managed to read more books than in any other month this year. I'm not sure how that happened, except I spent so much time packing and running errands alone, that I blazed through three audiobooks this month. I read two nonfiction, self-help-ish books -- one for Bible study and another because, Whole30 -- and both of those read really quickly. Add to that, many evenings piled in bed with my people, plowing through the first installment of Harry Potter and we ...
Collaboreads | Before the Fall
It's moving week for me, which means this is my only post of the week. Let's be honest, the only reason it's done is that I wrote it two weeks ago. You can head over to Jennifer's blog if you're looking for our Wardrobe Wednesday link up, but don't forget that starting next week we'll be hosting the first Wednesday of every month. I'll be back next week with my regular posting schedule (I think!) and catch you up on life over the last several weeks. See you soon! Today, Amber and Rachel are hosting another round of Collaboreads and I am so excited! Given the season, this month’s prompt was to read a book with the word fall in the title. I didn't have to look too hard, since I had already downloaded the perfect candidate several weeks ago. After I turned this one down for my Book of the ...
What I Read in September
Warning: Affiliate links appear in the following post. Although shopping the embedded links won’t cost you any additional dollars, it might mean that I download a few extra audio books this month. Your support of my reading habit is always appreciated! September was a month filled with audiobooks. I somehow managed to accrue quite the stash of Audible credits over the summer, so I've enjoyed redeeming those for new reads over the past several weeks. Of the four books I managed to finish, only one of them was a physical book! The other three, I devoured during morning commutes and afternoon jogs. I'm guessing that as the temperatures continue to fall over the next several months, I'll be checking more and more audiobooks off of my list. I used to run to music only, but listening to ...
Collaboreads | A Banned Book
Tomorrow, Amber and Rachel will be hosting another round of Collaboreads and this month's prompt was to read a book that had been previously banned. The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger was one of my favorite books from high school and college. I have multiple copies of the original paperback, acquired from one too many thrift store adventures, and this beautiful hardcover was a birthday gift from my favorite roommate during my freshman year of college (Hi, Ali!). When I was thinking about what book to choose for this month's link up, I briefly considered Harry Potter. I haven't ever read it before (I know) and I was planning to wait and read it with the girls over the holidays, but it might be en route with a scheduled delivery date of... TOMORROW. I looked at several lists of banned ...
