I decided back in June, that it was much easier for me to share a quarterly (ish) book review post, than trying to keep up with what I'm reading monthly. It's as much about letting books accumulate as it is about having the time to read and then actually write something about the books I'm reading. My to be read pile is growing infinitely larger, so I'm trying hard not to purchase any reading material these days. I have picked up a few things from the library, I have several things in my audible queue already, and I have a fairly large stack of previous BOTM selections that have been ignored for too long. The good ...

It's been a really long time since I posted about reading. Pregnancy and postpartum life just didn't allow for that kind of brain space and now that I'm chasing a moving target, I'm not sure it's much better. I am getting better about using my time wisely, though, and that has meant reading a handful of chapters or listening to an audio book while I work or clean. I'm still not back to my pre-pregnancy volume, but I am starting to remember why I used to make time for this. It might be awhile before my monthly totals are anything to write home about, so in the mean time, I'm planning to write a quarterly post with my ...

That's right, a single digit accomplishment that was 728 pages long. It seems funny to be so proud of that after having read as many as six or eight books in a month, for the last several years, but motherhood really kicked me in the pants when it comes to my reading life. I had this idea that I would sit around nursing Polly, with a book and a cup of coffee, and that I would tell you grand stories about the books I was checking off my list and the picture books Polly and I were reading together. Ummm, not so much. I should write you a post about what the average day looks like right now, ...

I am so thrilled to have read so many books last month! I'm sure our weekend getaway helped -- I read two, cover to cover, that weekend -- but I just found more time to sneak reading in my daily life and it was so good to feel like my normal self again. We've been super busy this summer and I've hopefully wrapped up most of my bigger projects to accomplish before baby. In theory, that should give me more time to rest and read, but in reality it might just give me more time to nap. I've already wish-listed a few parenting / baby books that I want to read, but I have plenty of BOTM selections to catch up on, too. ...

This is perhaps going to be the most lackluster reading recaps of all time. I have no excuses for why I couldn't get into any books this month, but I struggled to read anything. The only books I made it more than a few pages into were both audiobooks and one of those I haven't even finished. Basically, I'm a failure when it comes to reading this month, but I have high hopes for December. Stay tuned to find out why! 59. Remember last summer when I shared a few posts (here and here) about what Ella was reading? I really want to be better about sharing books the girls are loving, because I get questions all the time about how we encourage the girls to read and what books we recommend. As a part of Tyndale's Book Blogger program, we'll have an opportunity to read and review some of their children's titles over the next several months and I'm thrilled to share the first round with you today. Yes, we received these for free ...
What I Read in September

When I look back at September it was a hard month. We had a lot going on in our family and I just felt out of sorts for most of the month. My mom and I have talked about that a lot in the last few days and while I'm still not feeling back to myself exactly, I'm vowing to get myself together and to enjoy October. The upside to down days in September, is that I got a lot more reading done that I usually do. On top of the seven books I'm sharing today, I ended the month about halfway through both an audio selection and a paperback. I have some great things in my to be read pile and I'm looking forward ...

It's that time again -- the day where we recap all the books I've read in a single month. This is one of those times where it feels like I read all the pages, but since one book topped out over one thousand pages, the number of books I read was smaller than it felt. I finally finished up my most recent epic novel (only to dive into another one and at the same time be anxiously awaiting a new release later this month) and it feels good. It's been so fun to expand on the genres I'm reading this year and I hope to continue that theme moving forward. Let's get to it, shall we? 40. THE COUPLE ...
