There are lots of things that have been nonexistent in our home these days: time for blogging, our daddy, good attitudes, the will to clean. You know, the usual. Last week our SD was in Iowa all week and we were going it alone. Taking care of two kids with a partner is hard. Doing it by yourself is huge! We never even made it to the grocery store. Instead, we relied on fast food and Lunchables. I'm guessing you know how well my "eat healthy & exercise" plan is going. I feel like the weekend was just yesterday and now it's already time to have another one. Not that I'm complaining or anything, but this week flew by. We're gearing up for our first week as a kindergartner - buying supplies, planning our wardrobes, meeting the teacher and making her a fun little surprise. It's hard to ...

This Week
I have been reviewing a spreadsheet at work. It has so many rows that after four days of constant glaring, I'm a little over half way there. There are colored highlighters and rulers on my desk and it looks like an elementary school project has taken over. I only lost 0.4 pounds and I'm frustrated. I realize that a little loss is better than no loss, but I'm tired of seeing ounces on the scale. I'm 4.4 pounds and one pants size from my goal. I vow to be there by summer! We had to take Sophie to the ER. She dropped something on her foot Monday night and we were worried it might be broken. Thank you, Lord, for soft baby bones because it turned out to be a soft tissue injury. After four hours that we'll never get back, a baby-talking x-ray technician and a Tasmanian devil, we got home after ...
Insanity
So remember how I said yesterday that February was interesting? Well, maybe insane would be a better word to describe it. It's not that many things happened this month which were crazy, just that the few things that DID happen, were absolutely preposterous. And really? It wasn't so much of a crazy month, but a crazy three days. If you are friends with me (or my husband) on Facebook, then you've already gotten the Cliff's Notes version. If not, here you go. Last Friday, I posted our day in the life post because Josh was scheduled to fly home from NYC and I could finally mention that we'd delivered him to the airport the Monday before. I don't know why I knew it, but when I typed that it was like there was a sense of uneasiness, like something wasn't quite going to work out the way it ...
February: Recapped
It's that time again! I might not have blogged very much in February, leaving little to be recapped, but I do have some pretty great stories to share later this week. February was interesting. 1 - my view; 2 - words; 3 - hands; 4 - stranger; 5 - 10 am; 6 - dinner; 7 - button; 8 - sun; 9- front door; 10 - self portrait; 11 - something that makes you happy; 12 - inside your closet; 13 - blue; 14 - heart; 15 - phone; 16 - something new; 17 - time; 18 - drink; 19 - something you hate to do; 20 - handwriting; 21 - a favorite photo of you; 22 - where you work; 23 - shoes; 24 - inside your bathroom cabinet; 25 - green; 26 - night; 27 - something you ate; 28 - money; 29 - something you are listening to. First up was Project 365. I took a picture based on the prompt everyday this ...
Day in the Life
This wasn't a typical Monday, since I was at home with my girls. It is, however, pretty typical of how we spend our time when we find ourselves at home on a weekday. Lots of catching up and two very silly girls. I wanted to share this earlier in the week, but since a large part of the day was spent getting SD on a plane to NYC / Connecticut, I thought it better to wait. He's en route to Alabama as we speak, so I'm a little less worried about you paying me a visit in the middle of the night. You know... if there is, in fact, a crazy person following along. 5:05 am: The dreadful alarm went off and I know I don't have to work today. 5:25 am: Josh is all packed up and ready for his flight. 5:30 am: We pull out of the driveway and head for the airport -- almost an hour away. 6:07 am: ...
18 things.
1. Have you tried Maybelline's Baby Lips? I am one of those girls who refuses to leave home without something on my lips and have even remarked in the past that lipstick would definitely be one of those necessity items if I'm ever forced to live on a deserted island! The problem is, I hate how thick lipstick feels and lip gloss isn't much better. Baby Lips is pretty much tinted lip balm that feels so smooth on, but gives you just enough color. Peach Kiss is my favorite! And because of the tinted look, they are light enough that Ella can wear them and feel like a big girl without looking like a pageant queen. 2. Speaking of big girls... Sophie called me at work yesterday to tell me that she used the potty! That is twice in one week, friends. I know she's not quite there yet, but I'm so ...
Let’s Chat
You know how it is when I get a bee in my bonnet, right? Once I started thinking about a re-design, I couldn't stop. I had several hours to myself, two nights in a row, and I started playing around with the graphics. Once last night about 10 o'clock, Josh walked through and I was grinning ear to ear. He came around and saw me tweaking some code and called me a geek on his way back to bed! I'm not completely finished -- the font on the family page doesn't translate as well as I thought it would and the photograph of our house in the header is a little rough. I didn't notice until Josh pointed it out, that it was taken pre-metal roof and looks heinous!! Unfortunately, all of the recent photos are in the dead of winter, it's snowing or the bushes are too tall to see the porch. I'll have to ...
January: Recapped
Well, friends, I'm pretty impressed with myself. I cannot believe that I managed to take a single photograph every day of the month. Yes, I realize it isn't that difficult to carry your phone around and take a crappy picture, but since I've been in a blogging/picture taking funk for the last six months I would say this was a monumental task accomplished! I'm really happy with my little calendar for the month. I really wanted the images to be clickable so you could view them full sized, but that is pretty time consuming and I didn't quite get to it. Maybe next month. When I decided to create one for each month of the year I didn't really have an idea in mind for what I would do with them all. Maybe I'll print them for a scrapbook or make a photobook or something. Any ideas? Aside from ...
