It's hard to believe Scoop has been a member of our family for almost eleven months, but we're closing in on her anniversary quickly. She celebrated her first birthday last Friday (May 11th), but spent almost the entire day at the vet recovering from lady surgery. I could have easily shared a one year update anyway, but we decided she should get a do over. Sophie was not happy that she had to have surgery on her birthday! Scoop is so much better behaved than our first dog every dreamed of being. Not that Beemer was terrible, we were just young and thought she could do no wrong and never really worked hard on manners or obedience with her. We could have probably done better with Scoop, too, but I'm very impressed with how well she's adjusted to family life after eleven months. She ...

Pupdate | Sixteen Weeks
I might not have a baby bump or a kiddo young enough to justify a monthly update, but I do have the sweetest puppy in all the land. So, that counts, right? I promise not to make this some ridiculous dog mom series that pops up every month like clockwork, but I thought it would be fun to share an occasional update on how she's doing and how well we're surviving! The girls have had exactly zero experience with puppies. Aside from our own dog and one at their Nana's, their exposure to dogs has been very minimal. Beemer was almost five when we ...

You would think we had won the lottery or brought home our first baby or figured out how to drink Dr. Pepper and still be skinny -- we have all been that excited. But let's start at the beginning. It's almost been twenty one months exactly since Beemer died. The day we buried her, we removed all dog related items from our house and deep cleaned. We filled a garbage sack full of toys, her bed, and every pet related item we had ever owned. We kept photographs, her favorite leash, and the pink collar she wore for the previous ten years -- but I had no desire to walk into our room and find an empty bed ...
