You can read more about our affiliate relationships here. five months as of February 5, 2019 It seems weird posting another update so soon, but I was late to the game last month! Polly turned five months old on Tuesday and in an effort to get us back on track, I'm actually posting this within a few days of that milestone! Height + Weight: I shared her stats in last month's post, but we don't head back to the pediatrician until early March. I'm guessing she's put on a few pounds, though, since we're quickly outgrowing clothes and diapers. We just now had to buy our first box of diapers and I went ahead and sized up to a two. I swear that diapers are sized ...

How to Survive Disney with a Newborn

I'm a known procrastinator, so it should be no surprise that we visited Disney World back in November and I'm just now getting around to posting about it. I'm doing good to brush my teeth most days, so blogging with any regularity isn't likely. The girls and I were just talking yesterday about how it's been almost nine weeks since our trip -- it doesn't seem like that long ago, but I know the details are probably already getting fuzzy. I wanted to be sure I captured all of ...
Four Months with Polly

You can read more about our affiliate relationships here. four months as of January 5, 2019 I guess I'll forever be a few weeks late on this updates, but I like seeing her stats and chatting with her doctor about developmental things before writing the posts. I did mean to take the photo on time this month, but the ever elusive daylight is hard to catch and our weekend was so full, that I finally managed to snag some photos of her yesterday. How adorable is she?! Height + Weight: At her two month visit, Polly weighed 11 lbs 15 oz and at this month's visit, she weighed 14 lbs and 3 oz -- she's getting so big! On top of the weight she's gained, she's almost 26 ...
Christmas Things | Part One
I haven't taken as many photographs this holiday season as I wish, but now that I'm done working for the year (that feels so good to say!), I'm planning to over-document the remainder of Polly's first Christmas! In an attempt to catch up and share some of my favorite moments of December, so far, here's a photo filled post for your enjoyment. If you've been reading for more than a few Christmases, then you know that we make an annual date around the acquisition of our Christmas Tree. I've probably said this every year, but we always joke about the cars coming from "the city" to our hometown to cut down their Christmas tree on a farm, while we drive into town and buy ours out of a parking lot! We tried tree-cutting one year and the girls hated it and our tree died two weeks before ...

When Ella was born, I had no concept of how well she would sleep. I had never had to care for anyone other than myself and I wasn't prepared for how difficult operating on only a few hours might be. Fortunately, Josh is a much better middle of the night parent than I am and he helped keep me from coming apart at the seams while we figured this parenting gig out. By the time she was five weeks old, Ella was sleeping eleven hours a night and we were feeling pretty good about ...
Three Months with Polly

You can read more about our affiliate relationships here. three months as of December 5, 2018 I'm a little behind on sharing this monthly update, but guys -- December is rough. I didn't factor in how difficult all of the regular December-y things would be, with a baby in tow. Add to that a crazy schedule at work and lots of extra activities at school for the girls and we are all a little frazzled. I kid you not, I folded seven loads of laundry in my bedroom floor last night and I had to rock the baby in between every single one. I'm not complaining, but it takes me significantly longer than usual to complete a single task. I finally ordered the last of my ...
On Being a Working Mom
Sometimes I have to fight not to feel guilty about working outside of our home. When I was a newlywed, I claimed to want to be a stay at home mom. I thought that was what you were supposed to want and never considered that it might not be for me. Once we were expecting our first baby, we began to seriously consider our options for childcare. In all honesty, we couldn't have afforded for me to stay at home after a few weeks, but it's one of those conversations you have anyway. One day, Josh looked me square in the face and said: "You don't want to be a stay at home mom." It's crazy to me now, but it took him saying it out loud to realize he was right. I love having children and the time we spend together is cherished. I found maternity leave to be magical, even with the stress and ...
Halloween Fun
Halloween was a two-day event for us this year, but that's what it took to hit all of our favorite places and wear all of our Halloween costumes (yes, there were multiple!). We were super sad that my sister and her family couldn't join us on Sunday, because we hit up a local Trunk or Treat in one of our favorite little towns. Ella indulged me with a few family photos in the costume she wore to a party the night before, but she ditched it before we left and tried to pretend she didn't like trick or treating. Sophie put her cheetah / lion getup together using an old dance costume of Ella's, some long johns to combat the weather and a fun pair of cat ears we found at Wal-Mart. Polly wore a pumpkin swaddle that I bought for Sophie's six month photos, but she clearly wasn't a fan! ...
