The last year has been weird. When we moved into our home, I had huge expectations for how the following months and years would go, and honestly? Nothing has worked out quite like I expected. I'm a big fan of letting God lead us where we're called, whether that is to big plans or small plans or no plans at all. I thought we would purchase our home within a few months of moving and that surely we would be fully renovated and settled in and starting a new chapter of life with our big kids. I never expected to still be sharing this home with my parents or to completely change our plans when it comes to renovating or to be expecting another baby, yet here we are. To be clear, I couldn't be any happier than I am today. I'm just surprised out how everything has unfolded over the last eighteen ...

DIY Concrete & Pipe Fitting Coffee Table
I've been meaning to share this post with you all summer and never managed to get around to it. I'm not sure what took me so long, since this pretty girl has been sitting in my living room since Mother's Day. For those of you who don't know, Josh poured concrete to put himself through college and eventually starting his own business when we were newlyweds (didn't I say all of this last week?). When the housing market took a nosedive, he got a great job in human resources and has been working from home ever since. Several months ago, he started reading about a concrete product he had never worked with before. It's reinforced with fiberglass particles, which makes it very strong and much lighter than conventional concrete. We've always know that if we ever get into our forever house, we ...
Budget Boho Bathroom: Before & After
With Josh traveling most of this month, I've been working on a few projects around the house. Our only bathroom has been bothering me for awhile, so I decided to take everything out in an attempt to create a Budget Boho Bathroom. See how below! Our house has been on the market for a year with very little luck. We know we're priced right, but it's a buyer's market and we live in a hundred year old home. It's going to take the perfect buyer to sell this cutie, so we're being patient and trying not to be discouraged. Since we knew we were going to sell, we've been hesitant to put any money into it over the last year. Once we came to the realization that we're going to be here for an undetermined number of days, it seemed silly not to really love my house while I live in. I don't say that ...
Holiday Home Tour
You guys, can you even believe that Christmas is right around the corner?! I am such a kid when it comes to the joy and wonder of the holiday season and we have been giddy with anticipation over here. I warned you that I started my holiday decorating pretty early this year and when my girls went to bed on Monday night they were grinning and giggling because they were going to wake up to DECEMBER. It is so so easy for me to get caught up in all that I have to do and everywhere I have to be that I forget the reason for our celebration. I could tell you that our focus is always on Christ, but in the midst of elf antics and wrapping paper and credit cards, it is easy to turn our hearts and minds away. It seems like such a silly thing (and I know the Thanksgiving police might disagree with ...
Holiday Garland DIY
Affiliate links appear in the following post. Although shopping the embedded links won’t cost you any additional dollars, it might earn the blog a small commission. Your support of this space is always appreciated! I spent much of the day Friday getting my holiday decorations finalized. I used to be that girl who waited until December to decorate. Then after we had kids, we started picking up our tree right after Thanksgiving. I decorated mid-November last year and I have to admit -- it didn't make me any less thankful on that Thursday and it was a huge help overall. We got to enjoy our lights a little longer and I wasn't completely run ragged trying to unload ten plastic bins over a holiday weekend. I did something similar this year, adding a few things along the way for the last several ...
The Rockin’ House
Now that our little house is finally on the market, I thought I'd share the photos from our listing. I've shared so many bits and pieces of our home over the last 8 years, but I'm not sure I've ever done a full house tour. We're getting ready to decorate for the holidays and I'll be sharing more photos in a few weeks, but here is what she looks like today. We are lucky to have deep porches on the front and back. While the front porch faces the street, it is still very private and we get lots of shade. We contemplated adding blinds several times since we bought the house, but never got around to having them installed. Our back porch was screened in when we bought the house, but it was also completely rotten. When we replaced the roof several years ago, we rebuilt it and added a pea ...
Forever House Chronicles
I've alluded to the fact that we want to move, but I haven't really gone into much detail on the blog. I keep thinking that once things are actually moving along a little more that I'll start some sort of weekly series about what we're doing and where we're going and what our timeline is. But the fact is, it's a slow process and who knows when we'll actually start making progress and in the meantime details are piling up that I don't want to forget. I'm always interested to read blogs where they share the process of building or decorating and the thought process behind what is going on, so I thought you might like that, too! I might not post regularly until we are actually building or buying or renovating or whatever, but I figured that today was as good as any other day to spill the ...
