Yes, I know I should be sharing photos from our Christmas celebrations, but I'm not quite there yet. I thought instead I would share what we worked all day on yesterday. When we woke up, Sophie had a nursery and by the time we went to bed, it was all gussied up as a play room. We moved the kitchen and baby dolls into her room and added a comfy chair for reading and where mommy could watch the comings and goings. Bonus points for not having to walk through the room of a sleeping baby to go to the restroom! And giant fail for not realizing that a bath towel was creeping out of that door before I took these pictures. Meet Tuck, Sophie's Christmas lovie. She has never been attached to anything before now, but Nana & Grandpa gave her this sweet light up one that she calls Tuck and ...

It’s Nursery Day
For those of you who visit us often, you've seen photos of the girls' rooms numerous times. Today, Kelly is hosting "Show Us Your Room: Nursery/Children's Rooms Edition" and I'm joining in! I loved seeing everyone's rooms last summer and can't wait to see all of the new rooms linking up to this blog party. Click here to visit other beautiful nurseries and little bitty rooms. First, an introduction. These are my two pretty girls - Ella is four and Sophie is six months old. Our daddy is a bit overwhelmed with the estrogen and excessive pink around our house these days, but we sure are enjoying every little bit! Sophie and Ella have rooms that are connected, so we have decorated them in coordinating color schemes. It's so sweet because when the door is opened between them, it's like ...
Nursery Update, The Big Reveal
I am finally ready to show you the finished nursery and it's about time, considering Sophie will be five weeks old tomorrow! We have really enjoyed spending time in here getting to know our newest addition and I can't wait to see how much she loves it as she gets old enough to play and spend time in her sanctuary. The crib is the first thing you see when you walk in the room. We finally settled on having it under the mantle long ways to keep the back wall from feeling too crowded. It was in the middle of the room in Ella's nursery and we loved being able to walk around it and I'm so glad we placed it here because people can stand on either side of it to get a good peek at her when she's sleeping. The bedding was in Ella's nursery and is Bubbles by Bacati in pink and green. We have a ...
Nursery Update | Skeletons in the Closet
Wanna know what you can do with $1.61? This might be my favorite transformation yet. Although my original nursery plan included built-in bookcases on either side of the fireplace, the closer I got to my due date the less responsible I felt about spending several hundred dollars on one project. I decided I might feel better about waiting until summer and bringing in some other piece for storage in the meantime. I shopped my own house and ended up with this. It's an old "skeleton-closet" from the local elementary school that completes the set we have in our living room as an entertainment center. It has been hanging out behind the dining room door, full of hooks and bins as our makeshift coat closet. Since winter is coming to a close, we figured we could re-purpose it for the nursery ...
Nursery Update | Sneak Peek
Guess whose room is finished? REALLY finished? Except that cord dangling over there... it's getting a mini make-over later in the week. As soon as I get home before dark to take the pictures, I'll have LOTS of pretty things to share. I just couldn't resist giving you a little sneak peek in the meantime. ...
Nursery Update | Rock and Roll
I was in love with this wire rocker found at an antique mall a year or so ago. It was part of a mismatched set that I picked up for $75, that included a table and two other matching chairs. This chair has been in the craft room all along with a quick and easy cushion I added, but it was never really functional. I knew I wanted something different for Sophie's nursery, so Garan & I decided to make new cushions and find an ottoman to complete the look. Lucky for me, K had an old ottoman that was in storage that was the perfect size and match. The legs still need to be painted cream to match the chair, but the slipcover turned out great! We used an old chenille bedspread and mom made a simple slipcover. I liked the fringe from the coverlet so much, that I cut it off and hot glued it ...
Nursery Update | Curtain Call
Things are happening in Sophie's room this week and I can't wait to share the pictures! I have several projects in progress and once they are all wrapped up in a bow, I promise to post lots of details. In the meantime, here's a little something the amazing duo of Garan & Poppy whipped up for me this week. I have been back and forth about what I wanted over the windows - from valances and sheers, awnings, fabric bunting. You name it, I've considered it. Finally, I bought three yards of fabric and some pink ball fringe and handed it over to my mom. I told her to do with it what she could that I just couldn't come to a decision. Thank goodness that she's as crafty as ever, because what she sewed is beautiful. It wasn't what I asked for in the beginning or even what I thought I wanted, ...
Nursery Update, Sophie’s Crib
I had a rough day today. Not because of one thing particularly - I was just tired, achy and the day seemed really long. I have pretty easy pregnancies once the morning sickness wears off, but I had forgotten how everything starts to hurt at the end. I have exactly 8 weeks to go {and should know an exact date on Wednesday} and my body is no longer my own. My ankles are huge, my calves aren't much better and we won't even begin to discuss my fanny! I don't look like I'm carrying high, but I perpetually have a noggin underneath the right side of my ribcage. Sophie has started using my hip bones as a way to stretch and despite the lack of room in there, she's getting quite acrobatic. Did I mention that I could eat Nutty Bars and Strawberry Pop Tarts ALL DAY LONG? I was dreaming about heading ...
