I had big plans to have Polly photographed every three months of her first year, but we are far busier than I expected and that never happened. I did manage to invite my sister over on a Tuesday morning to snap a few photos of us before Polly's nap time and they totally make up for our lack of a three month session. These were taken about a week after she turned six months old and they perfectly capture what life was like for us then. A friend, who's also a local photographer and super mama and gives great breastfeeding advice, encouraged me to have my sister take some nursing photos for us. I'll keep most of those private, for obvious reasons, but these are a few of my favorites. She was right and I will forever me thankful that I have this little moment in time ...
Kamin
Hudson Ray
Please join me and pray for my amazing sister, Kamin, and her husband, Cory, as they welcome their sweet baby boy to the world today. We are over-the-moon excited to meet him, he is already so loved and adored. MANY photos to come over the weekend, I'm sure, but you can watch the Insta-feed in the sidebar or follow along (@tazandbelly) to see live updates today! ...
Sophie at TWO
I know I've said this about a hundred times, but I am seriously blessed to have such a talented photographer as my sister. Obviously, I love her for a million other reasons, but she is so good to me and takes pictures of my girls pretty much whenever I ask. Her summer mini-sessions this year were perfect timing and I decided to use my spot for Sophie's two-year-old photo shoot. We threw in a few sister pictures, but Ella will get her very own shoot in the fall as a SIX year old. Seriously? How did she get so big? I digress. I usually do smocked dresses or elaborate get-ups, but this year we did simple. My mom made Sophie these precious wide-leg chambray pants and I picked up the white, lace top at Target. The gingham bow was a "going out of business sale" find several years ago for Ella. ...
DIY Mermaid Birthday Party
If I've said it once, I've said it a hundred times. Birthdays are my love language. No matter the cost or the countless hours spent planning, prepping, and crafting (and not sleeping), there is nothing better than making all of your girl's dreams come true! It's been so much fun sharing Ella's special day and all of the little projects that made her party just perfect. I know you've been waiting patiently and what you really want to see are those beautiful party pictures, right? As always, my beautiful sister documented all of the details for us and we couldn't be happier with how the photographs turned out. We hope you love our DIY Mermaid Birthday Party! Ella really wanted to "be" a mermaid for this party, so I did everything I could to make that happen. These photo invitations were ...
Sneaky: A Redux
First of all, thank you so much for all of the wonderful comments on the first sneak peek of our family photos this week. After I hemmed and hawed for three days, Kamin emailed me a few more pictures. Not exactly "more" pictures, just different ones. See? Before After Before After I told you she was the BEST. Unfortunately, I still need to make a decision! ...
Sneaky
On Saturday, we met K bright and early for a family photoshoot. It was very grey outside, so we were glad for bright blue eyes and pretty green grass. I have had an idea in mind for this shoot for months - I knew I either wanted pics of us waist deep in rye grass or lying on a blanket in a pile. Random right? When K sent me these sneaks this morning I knew I couldn't make a decision. I need help, people! 1. Conceptually, this is what I had in mind. I love that it isn't "too" posed and I LOVE the grass. What I don't love? My face. 2. Again, love this and everyone in it. But me. Why am I so weird looking here? I don't think that even looks like me. 3. Then the sun started peaking out, my necklace broke {Ella is playing with the beads here} and the girls got happy. I love this ...
In Love
Not a lot going on around here this week. At least not enough interesting to blog about. Instead, enjoy these sweet pictures of our littlest one. Since spring hadn't quite arrived, we found a grassy spot a few feet from the street and snapped away. Can you say adorable? Thanks, K. ...
IKEA: It’s All About the Food!
When I planned a girls' weekend road trip to the closest IKEA, I had no idea our day would revolve around food. On Saturday morning, I loaded up with Garan and K and we spent two and a half hours of a rainy drive to Atlanta for our first ever stroll around IKEA. I've heard of it plenty, even ordered the magazine and shopped on-line a few times, but if you are reading any design blogs you know that there is plenty of goodness to be had here on the cheap. The big blue warehouse greeted us right off of the interstate and we were all a little giddy. I was armed with a little bit of cash and a long list of wishes for the newly painted living and dining rooms. Mom & K really wanted to scope out couches and I kind of wanted to do some mattress testing for SD. We started out in the ...
