Last Saturday afternoon, we spent some time outside enjoying a gorgeous day with beautiful blue skies. We were celebrating this boy's first birthday. Lake is one month older than Soph, almost to the day. Ryan & I get to enjoy each other's company while our littles play together. It is awfully convenient that our kids are all the same age. It makes you wonder if God knew what he was up to or something?! He wasn't sure what to think about everyone looking at him and singing to him and he wasn't having ANYTHING to do with his birthday cake (although, I hear he dug right in later in the day). That didn't keep him from opening his gifts and playing puzzle with Sophie, though. This little farm puzzle was from us and has nice chunky handles to move the pieces around. These two ...

Take Me Out to the Ballgame
This past weekend we had another alumni bash, only this time it was a baseball game. Former varsity baseball players were invited back to play a fundraiser game for this year's team. You know what that means, our bestie was back in town and these two were up to no good. I've known for several weeks that this trophy would be making an appearance, but that didn't make it any easier to see it in my living room. This was their Fantasy Football League trophy that will be passed around year to year. We've had major discussions about where it can reside and all I will say is I think I've convinced SD that it cannot sit on the console by the television! Either way, Chris insisted that we have a little impromptu photoshoot and the photos MUST make the blog. So, here you go, CG. On Saturday ...
Far Away Friends
Some of our very best friends live far, far away. We only get to see them a few times a year, when they are in town visiting family, but boy do we get our time in while we can. Chris was our very best friend in high-school (we shared) and married a wonderful girl who lived way down in Louisiana. I can just about guarantee that any time CG is in town, SD is with him somewhere - shooting pool, playing golf, arguing over Nintendo, throwing rocks at mailboxes (wink, wink). You know, the usual. We are so lucky that life has blessed them with three beautiful girls to match our two and ever luckier that they all love each other a whole lot. It always amazes me how little friends remember each other and love each other fiercely, when they can, even though they might go months without seeing one ...

Crawfish Boil
This is a long one, folks. Last night, we were invited to our other mother's house for a crawfish boil. Her son Chris was in town and we were so excited to spend the evening outside enjoying their new pool in wonderful company. Ella thought we were having bugs for dinner and let everyone know that she was NOT having any of those. Obviously, Emma {Chris' youngest daughter}, didn't feel quite the same way! The kids were all perfectly self-sufficient, thanks to a last minute run to Dollar General for floaties and rings, so the mommies and daddies got to visit instead of play life-guard all night. These two were the lowest maintenance of all and hung out poolside for most of the evening. Sophie is 7 weeks old and Natalee is 12 weeks old. Aren't they cute? {Side note, isn't ...
Ali-U Made the Blog Again!
This is Ali, one of my favorite people ever. I might not get to see her very often {we're averaging once a year!!!}, but we talk via email quite a bit and we pick up where we left off when we do get to see each other. Ali was my freshman year roommate in college and we had a blast. Ella asked us today what we did when we lived together and we just had to laugh. We sang to the Dixie Chicks at the top of our lungs. We watched way too many episodes of Friends. We had Dawson's Creek viewing parties. We randomly drove to Alabaster for free Mt. Dew and TCBY. We called each other from our bedrooms which were 15 feet apart. We ate cheesy french fries with bacon & chives for dinner. We put dirty dishes in our roommates rooms when they didn't help wash. We laid in the bed together ...
Baby Love
Today we were lucky enough to tag along with K while she did a newborn session for our sweet Lake. We were in need of some time with our besties, since we haven't seen them since they've been home from the hospital. Ella's daddy even gave her a hard time this morning about getting all dressed up for her "boyfriend." In a few more weeks, we'll have plenty of time for play-dates {although we might be lacking in energy!} for the littles and the bigs. This time, we settled for brief conversation while Ella & Grey made a huge mess building a "fork" and we watched Lake play sweetly for his pictures. We had such fun! This was Ella's excited face... right before she got to practice her big sister skills on a sleepy, baby Lake. She was just itching to get her hands on him! And ...
Lake’s Sprinkle
Today Ella, Gran and I went to a Sprinkle Shower for my best friend Ryan and her baby-to-be, Lake. It was so much fun to compare our bellies and laugh about how we looked pretty much the same the last go around. Ella got to pick out which present to open next and kept everyone pretty entertained. She is so excited about these babies and it was fun for her to see all of the tiny clothes and toys. Ryan & I have a photo much like this from Grey's baby shower, so we couldn't resist taking another. Even though we live with it everyday, it is funny to think about how we've been pregnant together both times. As much as we would enjoy the other being able to help more, it is fun to have someone to complain to and who knows exactly how you're feeling right now. Congrats on baby John ...
