It's been awhile since I linked up with Darcy & Co. for 5 on Friday, but I have a few fun things to share this week that don't warrant their own post. Nothing is better than playing catch up with a short list before the weekend begins. 1. BOOKS. I know I shared a post last week about The Fault in Our Stars. I'm still pretty smitten and I'm getting ready to read another of John Green's books this week. I go through spells where I don't read for a few weeks and then I manage to cram four or five books into a few days! This was definitely one of those. I had seen The Selection in my Amazon recommendations for a few weeks, but I hadn't even clicked on it. Then I read a review last week and I was hooked (I wish I could remember who wrote about it, but I can't figure it out even after ...

5 on Friday
It's time for 5 on Friday! This week was a good one and I have lots of fun things to share. ONE // We were en route to Ella's dance competition when we got the call that our sweet baby Hayven was on her way! Josh's brother and his wife, Caycie, were expecting their little nugget next month, but she decided to make an early arrival. We were so worried that we would miss it while we were in Montgomery, but thanks to a long labor she didn't debut until early Sunday morning. I drove Josh crazy reading him middle of the night text updates and showing off pictures while it was still dark outside! I got word that Hayven Ruby made her way into the world at 4:40 in the morning, weighing 7 pounds even and measuring 19.5 inches long. Ella and I decided they could be "name twins" since her middle ...
5 on Friday
Woah. That's how I feel about the last seven days. It has been packed wall to wall with all sorts of things and hasn't left much time for blogging or reading or eating or sleeping. You know, anything fun at all. ONE // Last Saturday morning I ran for the first time since the Mercedes Half Marathon. This is the second year that our high school held a 5k to raise money for the school. I finished second in my division last year and third this year. I squeezed in under 29 minutes this time around, but if I had been training I probably could have shaved off a few additional minutes. This course is hard! There are lots of hills and an especially tough one right at the end. It was fun to see friends from high school and participate in something to benefit the kids in our community. TWO ...
5 on Friday
This has been one busy week. Between work and church and home and just life, I am exhausted. My to do list is longer than the hours in the day and I'm feeling a little overwhelmed. ONE I hate to start off with the same topic as last week's post, but it's relevant. My morning routine is going really well. I've managed to get up *almost* on time every day this week and it is certainly helping me in the organizational realm. My alarm has been going off at 4:30 and I've been rolling out of bed after reading Jesus Calling at around 5 o'clock. My goal for next week is to be out of bed by 4:45. I sort of flip flopped my schedule this week and I've been starting the coffee and then getting ready first and reading my Bible and doing chores after I'm ready to walk out the door. It seems to me that ...
5 on Friday
I clearly win the award for best blogger of the week, right? I was late getting Monday's meal post up and then I pretty much vanished off the face of the planet after that. You would think with a stack of weather days spent at home with my family, I could manage to spend a few hours at the computer. I'm linking up with Darcy & friends to share a few things with you today and I'll be back next week with more food, another chapter of our love story and lots of things to say about Ella's baptism. ONE I've never been a morning person and despite my desire to spend time in the Bible and in prayer every day, I am not nearly as diligent about this as I want to be. We've been talking in our small group about changes we want to make in our lives this year and one of those things is giving God ...
5 on Friday
Hey, friends -- I am super excited for the weekend! We have lots of fun things planned and I'm hoping to squeeze in a few new recipes that I want to try before Monday's meal post. Are you guys doing anything fun this weekend? ONE Yes, I know that Frozen was on my last 5 on Friday post, so I'm sorry to repeat. BUT, my children are obsessed. And by obsessed I mean that Sophie wears pink gloves around the house to keep from freezing people, she asked my mom yesterday to make her a cape like Elsa wears and pretty much every day is like living in a show-tune. Josh has forbidden us to play the soundtrack in his car, but as soon as I pick the girls up every afternoon they start yelling out requests. And I have to admit... I may have listened to it a time or two when I was in the car alone. Don't ...
Five on Friday
This is my second full week back at work since the holidays / the great flu of 2014 and I am feeling it! Not only am I thrilled that it's Friday and time to enjoy the weekend, but I am loving that we have Monday at home, too. I have crazy big plans for the long weekend... like cleaning house and packing up the remainder of our Christmas decor, but I'm hoping we can squeeze in a movie date with the girls and a few new recipes that I want to try. What's on tap for your weekend?I'm linking up with Darci today for 5 on Friday, so here's what's on my mind! ONE // I had such a fun little graphic design project to work on this week. It's a super-hero birthday party for a five year old boy and it turned out adorable. The mom was super creative and pieced together a bunch of different design ...
5 on Friday | Week 50
HOW is it that Christmas is a mere 5 days away?! I'm ready and prepared, but I just feel like the holiday season really snuck up on me this year! Today is my last day of work for 2013 and I'm looking forward to twelve uninterrupted days of quality time with my people. Bring on the festivities!Josh & I don't normally exchange gifts for Christmas. We're those boring people that buy things that we need or want throughout the year and I almost always have a hard time even deciding what it is I want when the holiday rolls around. We don't buy many gifts, in general, outside of the girls and other small children in our family, but for some reason I really wanted to exchange gifts this year. Maybe it's because I found a few things I knew Josh would really enjoy. But it could be that I ...
