How about a good, old fashioned, catch-me-up post? We live in a pretty small town and, with that, comes all sorts of interesting things. The neighboring town (still in our same school zone) holds a hay bale decorating contest each year and the elementary school always participates. Sophie was chosen to be on the team this year and they just happened to be decorating on a day I was at home sick. I ran Hudson to school for my sister and then swung back by to snap a few photos for the yearbook. The kids had so much fun decorating and I wish I could show you their finished Blues Brothers inspired creation, ...
friday five
Five on Friday | September 22
I'm not going to make any excuses about my absence this week, because honestly, I have no idea why I took a break. I had things on my calendar, but they could all easily be shifted and I just didn't feel up to writing. I've been in an unexplained funk for several weeks and that translates to rarely eating, shirking workouts, reading too much, and laziness. I'm trying to get myself together over the weekend, so I'll be back with better content on Monday. In the meantime, why don't we share a little Five on Friday instead? UAB Football | I'm not sure I've ever mentioned this (and you probably wouldn't care anyway), but Josh and I both went to college at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. I loved the urban setting and the art department was amazing. In true Kristin (in the college ...
Five on Friday | Blog Edition
I go through phases where I think about the blog all the time (just ask Jennifer... or Josh). I make lists and notes and have expectations and dreams and I spend weeks implementing new strategies and deciding the best way to do certain things. On the complete flipside are the times when I completely ignore all of the important things like SEO and promotion and growth and fly by the seat of my pants. Otherwise known as: summer. I made a huge to-do list this week and I'm trying to get back into a routine of spending time working on the blog every morning. While I was working on said list, I kept running across things that I wanted to share or ask you guys and what better way to do that, than a themed Five on Friday blog post? 1 | The Taz + Belly Book Shop Did you see the new page I ...
Five on Friday | Catching You Up
What a whirlwind of a week! What is it about a long weekend that makes the rest of the week feel so weird?! I had a horrible time remembering what day it was this week. Surely I'm not the only one. Since I took an unintended blog break (what even?!) over the last week, I thought I'd pop in a with a Friday post and catch you up on all that's going on in our world. This is going to be long and disjointed, but hang in there -- I have a fun announcement at the end of today's post! 1. Camper Update Since my parents are leaving for the beach tomorrow, we've been working hard to get the campers finished before their trip. We won't be headed down for a few more days, but we're so close. I finally made a master list of everything that needed to be done before we leave and divided it up ...
The Friday Five | May 2017
It's been a looooong time since I shared a round up post on a Friday and I miss it big time. I doubt I'll do one every week, but maybe a monthly check in for all the things that don't make their own blog post. 1. Camper Progress | Things are going so well in the camper remodel. For several weeks I felt like things were slowing down big time and I couldn't get anything done. Josh likes to remind me of exactly how many days there are between us and the beach, so I was starting to have heart palpitations about getting things done. Within a single weekend, I made so much progress and since he and Ella will be traveling for an entire week later this month, I'm planning to finish her up while they're gone. I mentioned on Instagram that I would be sharing all the reveal posts in early June and ...
Five on Friday 008
You. Guys. We made it to another Friday, who are we even?! This week has been such a good one. We've been busy, but I've accomplished so much and finally feel like I'm in charge of August. Wouldn't you know it's already halfway over. 001 | Stranger Things Please tell me you have watched, are watching or plan to watch Stranger Things. Please. In case you've been living under a rock for the last six weeks or so, Netflix unveiled a new original series over the summer and pretty much everyone I know is in love with it. Josh and I had just finished up Parenthood and had no big plans to start a new series right away, but with only eight episodes, it seemed doable over the course of a few days. I'll admit, it was a huge mistake to start it before he left to install that job a few weeks ago, ...
5 on Friday: All the Things
It's Friday and I could not be more thrilled about the weekend! Despite the fact that we were out of school and work one day and delayed several other days, the last few weeks have seemed to crawl on by. I'm ready for some sunshine time with my family, but in the meantime we're making our own sunshine as often as we can. I somehow let the week go by with only one blog post (despite a full editorial calendar), so I figured the best way to make up for that was a little 5 on Friday action. Don't run, okay? ONE: We are still going strong with our Bible Journaling over here. I've had a lot of great feedback and made some wonderful new connections, but I can't help but notice it might have run a few Instagram followers off. Are you enjoying these posts? Is every day too much? Do we need to tone ...
Flashback Five on Friday
Once upon a time I had a hard-drive. On it was my entire life. All of my graphic design work, every photograph from the girls life and countless home movies. Yes, I had much of the content uploaded and preserved on the blog, but there was still plenty that only existed in that one place. A little over a year ago, I plugged the hard-drive into my computer and the light didn't come on. Once day it worked and the next day it didn't. For months, I didn't do anything about it. I secretly dreaded hearing a computer guru tell me that all of those moments were lost. I felt like I was putting off the inevitable. In the meantime, I worked to build up my design work again and recreated so much work for new clients. A few weeks ago, I buckled and asked our IT guy at work to take a look at it and tell ...
