A Day at the Beach
Today, we took a different approach to "the day at the beach." The daddies went to play golf this morning and Beth & I took Ella & Alston shopping and to lunch {Isabella was snoozing when we left!}. Ella wasn't thrilled about missing out on the beach, but I convinced her that the daddies would be sad if we left them. Once we finally made it to the beach, we were lucky to see a practice round from The Blue Angels and the kids were very excited. We stuffed their ears with plugs and watched the planes fly by. Ella ventured into the water today and Alston enjoyed rolling around in the sand. Isabella was fed up pretty quickly and headed in for an afternoon nap. After turning down a two hour wait at Peg Leg Pete's, we walked straight to a table at Flounders and ate LOTS of ...
Bedouins at the Beach
Do you ever see groups of people on the beach with lots of stuff? Rednecks? Whitetrash? Well... that was us today. We had three tents, ten chairs, a baby pool and stuff everywhere. We joked that the locals were probably making fun of us from the porch of their beach house. In any event, if you plan on spending more than thirty minutes at the beach with three littles under the age of three, you have to have LOTS of paraphernalia. Ella and I stayed out a little more than six hours. She didn't complain once. She merely requested a lunch of bologna sandwich, Doritos and apple juice served right there on the beach. I obliged and within fifteen minutes she was covered in sand again, happy as a lark. She is a girl after my own heart. Josh bought a hat this morning and I've been referring ...
Celebrate
We had a wonderful holiday weekend; it was full of food, fellowship and fun. We spent the day at my parents Friday and Saturday, swimming and stuffing our face. Friday, we pretty much had the pool to ourselves, but Saturday it was teeming with family. We ate and talked all day long. We were so tired by the end of the day. But that didn't stop us from inviting more fun. The closest big city has a wonderful fireworks display and we packed a picnic dinner, blankets and our favorite family members and headed off to the university quad. We spent the evening running around in the grass, chasing the ice cream truck and watching a beautiful fireworks show. There were lots of families cooking out, playing frisbee and having a great time. It was a wonderful end to the weekend and we slept GREAT ...
Independence Day
Have I mentioned that my sister is a much better photographer than I am? Isn't this pretty? Pretty awesome. I am downloading the 192 photographs I have taken since yesterday morning, so you'll have to wait on a weekend update. In the meantime, I thought I'd share this picture that K took at Thunder on the Mountain. We packed a picnic and had dinner on the quad at our college alma mater. Much fun. See you soon. ...
The Rock House
This is the rock house; built in 1923 by the postmaster general. It is said, that he picked up field stones each day on his mail route until he had enough to cover the house. True or not, it is a lot of rocks! When we bought the house there were boxwood hedges across the front that were so high you couldn't see out the "windows" on the porch. We pulled them up and replaced them with little loropetalum. Much to our joy, they grew really fast and we love the pink blooms we get throughout the year. The porch is one of our favorite places to spend time. Unfortunately, our house faces the local high school and we have a lovely view of the backside of the stadium. We've recently planted 19 new loropetalum across the front of our property which will provide a privacy hedge. The school has ...
Goodnight, sweetheart.
Well, it's time to show you where we sleep. Yes, I know it isn't Friday. We spent the weekend together lovin' on our SD and the house was such a wreck that I couldn't bring myself to take pictures. He went back to work this morning and Ella & I finally cleaned up enough to share! So, welcome to our master bedroom. This "F" is on the door to our room and is the first thing you see. My sister bought it for me for Christmas on year. It is an antique and one of my favorite things. Okay, this is really my favorite thing in the room and I can say that since SD isn't here today. This is Beemer and she sleeps in this bed, too. I know... big dog, white sheets. What can I say? She keeps me company when Josh is traveling. You can almost always find her here at night. This is a ...
