I may not look or act like a country girl, but I am. I love to be outside and I love to camp. My parents decided several weeks ago that they would spend this past weekend with Ella in a place we all love. I decided kind of last minute to join the ho-down and I am so glad I did. I was off work on Friday for my doctor's visit and a long-overdue dentist appointment. I decided to make the most of it and packed my car and drove up to meet them on Friday afternoon. The two hour drive was quiet and filled with beautiful trees of every color. When I arrived at camp, I saw this sweet face... and this pretty scenery. On Saturday, we went to the weekly Trade Day a few miles down the country road. Although we didn't buy much we did see lots of pretty things. We did manage to catch ...

Wanna know what I did this weekend?
Absolutely nothing. ...
Unpredictable?
Josh is making fun of me as we speak for posting this picture... I think it's funny. Obviously this isn't accurate, it isn't science-based, it isn't an ultrasound. It amounts to not much more than a Chinese calendar or an experiment with Drano in the bathroom. BUT, it makes for a good conversation. Even if that conversation cost me $30. This doesn't prove anything, but it will be interesting to see what happens. I still don't have a feeling one way or another and I won't tell you what Josh thinks. We'll just have to wait and see. No, "I told you so's", please! ...
This Afternoon…
I found this when I got home. ...
Raise your hand…
if you threw up in the car on the way to work this morning. Anyone, anyone? I didn't think so. Well, it wasn't fun, so be glad it wasn't you. Josh said it was quintessentially pregnant that immediately following that lovely moment, I turned into Chick-fil-A for a cheese biscuit and sweet tea. What's so weird about that? Since I surprised you all with a post last night and offered very few details, I thought a proper pregnancy post was called for. Complete with gratuitous ultrasound evidence, of course! I went to the doctor for a regularly-scheduled lab appointment in late July and proceeded to tell the lab tech that I was one of the least-fertile people on the planet. Little did I know what God had in store. On August 4th, I took my first pregnancy test and wasn't at all discouraged ...
Guess what?!?!
This fancy family has an announcement to make... Ella's going to be a BIG sister! ...
Sunday Afternoon Stroll
Since Ella is suddenly addicted to cartoons, we are trying to capture her attention and creativity in other ways. We've been eliminating television during the week, except for thirty minutes before bed. The weekends, however, are more difficult. We're all tired and want to relax and somehow find ourselves piled into bed watching Toot & Puddle and Wow, Wow, Wubzy. Today after nap, SD suggested we play outside. The weather has been great this weekend - beautifully sunny, with low humidity and a sky full of fluffy white clouds. Although we only spent about a half an hour outside, it made her forget about cartoons {or the lack thereof} and pay attention to the grass and the bugs and the clouds. Here are a few pictures from our sunny Sunday afternoon. hanging out in the fort with ...
Vera & Ella
All summer long Ella and Garan have been visiting my aunt Vera. They go to lunch, to the pharmacy, to the market. Ella pushes a tiny metal buggy full of her groceries. Vera has loved spending time with Ella and... well, the feeling is mutual. On Saturday, we had a family reunion to celebrate Vera's 94th birthday. Ella was so excited about "Vera's party". We talked about it for days and she worked hard on a birthday card for her. These are my favorite pictures from the day. ...
