This is how we spent Father's Day... packed in an overstuffed Jeep headed home from our favorite town in the state. We enjoyed eight days of white sandy beaches, clear water and silly little girls. We had a great time, but are glad to be settling in at home. Stay tuned, recaps start tomorrow! ...

Crawfish Boil
This is a long one, folks. Last night, we were invited to our other mother's house for a crawfish boil. Her son Chris was in town and we were so excited to spend the evening outside enjoying their new pool in wonderful company. Ella thought we were having bugs for dinner and let everyone know that she was NOT having any of those. Obviously, Emma {Chris' youngest daughter}, didn't feel quite the same way! The kids were all perfectly self-sufficient, thanks to a last minute run to Dollar General for floaties and rings, so the mommies and daddies got to visit instead of play life-guard all night. These two were the lowest maintenance of all and hung out poolside for most of the evening. Sophie is 7 weeks old and Natalee is 12 weeks old. Aren't they cute? {Side note, isn't ...
Memorial Day
This might be the only picture I took yesterday, but at least it's a good one. Yesterday, we: slept late and had fruit loops for breakfast. packed three bags of towels, toys and food. spent about 8 hours at the pool, in the sun and rain. watched Sophie sleep the day away in her bouncy seat under an umbrella. had many noodle fights. ate a few too many hamburgers and drank way too many Dr. Peppers. finally got some sun on my cheeks. watched red, white and blue clad cheeks run around the pool all day. got stuck under the awning during a rainstorm. enjoyed wonderful conversation. Happy Memorial Day! ...
Strawberry Patch
My grandparents live on the same street as we do. And the same street as my sister, my parents and all of my mom's siblings. Small town, huh? I don't know if you'd technically call it a farm, but that what I call it. My Pop raises cows and grows hay because he loves to. In fact, he told me he had been thinking about selling the tractors and the cows and buying a fishing boat. He changed his mind and bought a new tractor instead; he was afraid he might get bored. We spent the afternoon at their house yesterday, riding the tractor, planting flowers, playing hide-and-go-seek and picking strawberries. It was a beautiful day. At first it was just me, Ella & Sophie enjoying the sunshine with Pop & Gran-mom. Then my mom got there, then K and Cory. Three more of my aunts and a ...
Coming Home.
The shades on our hospital windows are still pulled. I'm sitting in the dark listening to the heavy breathing of two of my favorite people. My other favorite person is probably rubbing the sleep from her eyes, excited to bring Sophie home where she belongs. She has already had blood work done this morning and we're waiting to hear the results. She has lost a total of 11 ounces, weighing 6 pounds and 3 ounces this morning. I'm hoping to see my doctor soon, enjoy another round of cinnamon french toast and begin the process of coming home. I'm ready to see the rock house and the grey ghost that lives there. I'm ready to see two little blue eyed girls snuggling in mommy's bed. I'm ready for down-filled pillows and comfortable chairs and rocking in the nursery. Mostly I'm ready for our life as ...
It’s Sophie Day…
It's early. Bags are packed and the car is loaded. Beemer is cared for and Ella is fast asleep at Garan's. I've had a haircut, manicure and pedicure. I've paid the bills, mailed thank you notes and finally completed my Census form. The house is clean and the yard looks gorgeous. Big pink bows are hanging in Sophie's room... ready for the mailbox and front door. Coming home outfits are pressed and ready to go. The fridge is stocked for next week and we've got hospital snacks in the car. Car seats are installed and the nursery is finally finished. All that's left is to meet Sophie. Please pray for us today as we meet our new addition. Pray... that my surgery is on-time and uneventful. that my doctors and nurses make good decisions and give us the best possible care. that ...
Easter Picnic
After church, we headed to Garan's for a picnic with the family and of course, family pictures. I'll be sure to share those that K took, but we snapped this quick one in the meantime. After the photo session, we all changed clothes for vegging out in the sunshine, hunting eggs and stuffing face. How cute is this little one in the sweet dress the Bunny brought? She convinced Jared to hunt eggs while she was waiting on the other kids. Her idea of "hiding" the eggs is to throw them in various locations around the yard. Luckily, he was very agreeable. Thank you, Jared! This much be Molly's serious face... she, Stanley, Jay and Ella were gearing up to hunt eggs. Just like on Saturday, she was pretty proud of the 32 eggs she found. Unfortunately they all came home with ...
Happy Easter, Friends
