After a fun week of Halloween activities and parties, we were finally to the big day. Ella woke up with a grin on her face and talked about trick or treating all day long. We went to the annual Trunk-or-Treat event at our church. It is one of the largest ministry opportunities we share and often draws over 500 children from the surrounding communities. Ella started giggling when we turned onto this street and started talking about how much fun it was going to be! I bought Sophie this chicken costume last November. At the time, I didn't know what we were having, but it was hard to pass up a $0.97 costume this cute. I really thought it would be too big for our little bitty and bought the pumpkin costume as a back-up. We decided at the last minute to give it a try and believe it or not, it ...

Boo Boo Boo at the Zoo
On Sunday afternoon, we decided to carry these two little Halloween-lovers to our local zoo for the annual Boo at the Zoo event. Despite what our daddy says, it did not disappoint. Just in case there is any question, Ella is Olivia the Pig for Halloween and Sophie is a pumpkin. Due to some unseasonably warm weather, Sophie skipped out on her costume, with the exception of her 'boggin. Hopefully, come Sunday the weather will be cool enough for some fuzzy knits! Sophie had the pleasure of hanging out in the carrier for most of the night and it was a life-saver. I was not looking forward to navigating a crowded zoo with a stroller and we all know that carrying a baby for hours while waiting in line is not a fun time for ANYBODY. We were smart enough this year to head straight for ...
Day in the Life
So, one of my favorite bloggers shared a "day in the life" post earlier in the week and I loved it. I though maybe I should try that. Unfortunately, I picked the most boring day know to man. Sorry about that! 5:26 - Woke up eleven minutes later than I meant to. I can blame this on the fact that Sophie woke up at 11:18, 12:30 and 3:45. She's teething and uncomfortable, so my usually good sleeper is a bit restless. 6:00 - I'm out of the shower and hear a little birdy talking and cooing from her crib. Maybe if I ignore her for a bit, she'll stay happy. I wake Ella up, put her clothes on the couch and turn cartoons on. She has instructions to get dressed or the TV is going off. We have to do what works on mornings that daddy isn't here. He is in charge of getting the girls up and at em ...
Highschool Flashback
This weekend was a bit of deja vu`- some friends on Facebook have been planning hard for a long time and we all came together for an Alumni Reunion on Friday night for the Homecoming game at our Alma Mater. Since we live across the street from the school, it is pretty easy to go to the games on Friday nights and even easier when dinner is included! We gussied the girls up in their hounds-tooth and modified it slightly to reflect our black and gold. We even wore cute name tags with the year we graduated... just in case anybody needed a reminder! Since tailgating fell right around Sophie's evening nap, I spent most of the time doing this. She was out pretty soon after we got there and Sue was sweet enough to donate a chair to our cause. She slept as long as I sat like this and it was just ...
Alabama Saturdays
In case you haven't figured it out yet, our typical Saturdays revolve around college football. SD is a big fan and even when it's not his team on the big screen, he will watch pretty much any game that's on. In years past, he has spent almost all day on Saturdays at his parents house watching with his brother and dad, while the Ella and I did "girly" stuff until Alabama kick-off. Season tickets has thrown a kink into our system this year, although a good kink, for sure. Josh is spending all of the home games in Tuscaloosa and since I won't be headed back to T-Town until later in the fall, the girls and I have revised our game day schedules. Mommy, Ella & Sophie, Alabama v. Florida - October 2, 2010 This past Saturday, like several before it, we opted to spend the day with ...
Party People
I'm guessing you won't be surprised when I tell you I took only one picture at the birthday party. One. I've had countless people ask to see the fruits of my labor, but I have absolutely nothing to show you. There is nothing better than having an event photographer in the family. K does such a great job and it is so nice to pass that task off to someone else so that I can enjoy the day and watch Ella have a blast with all of her friends. These four partying pigs had a fabulous day. We rented a bouncer for the weekend and Ella seriously got my money's worth out of the deal. We hired a new baker for the cake and it was phenomenal. There were pretty striped tablecloths and paper straws, tons of red balloons, pretty pig noses and red gummy candies. There were tons of squealing children ...
It’s great to live in ALABAMA
Y'all don't laugh, but I thought long and hard about what to wear to the football game this weekend. Girls in the south don't exactly wear jeans & tees to the game, but since I'm not exactly back in my clothes I really struggled with what to wear. Not to mention, that I could find NO red dresses in this city that covered my bum. What is with wearing shirts for dresses? I finally got a cute denim dress and found a red necklace, wedges and sweater, but the real stars of the show were the girls. Even though they hung out with Garan while we were in Tuscaloosa, they had to be all dressed up! Ella's seersucker dress from last year was too short, so she wore it with jeans. We had a super-cute smocked gown that was Ella's, but since Sophie is a giant it was too short. Mom cut it off and made ...
