On Saturday we were brave. My friend Amye and I went to Christmas Village and this is what we took: two kids 2 and under, two strollers, two bunnies, one singing caterpillar, juice, sweet tea, water, apples, raisins, gummies, animal crackers, goldfish and lots of money! We had a great time and the kids were remarkably well-behaved. Four and a half hours later, however, we were all exhausted. We got lots of pretty things... Ella got a fall wardrobe and I bought lots of Christmas presents. If you haven't seen it yet, make sure you scroll on down to the next post to see our Santa picture for the year. Imagine that sweet Jackson's looks very similar. We had been talking about Santa at our house for days, getting ready. Ella's been talking about sitting in his lap and taking a picture, ...

Why am I smiling?
Because I just "officially" pooped on the potty for the first time and I'm following it up with some yummy M&Ms. ...
Pull my finger. I mean, tail.
Okay, so I don't know about you, but I'm constantly saying "kids' toys these days are so much cooler than the toys we had when I was a kid!" Today is a PERFECT example. Only this toy is more weird and scary than good, but it still works better that anything we played with in the eighties. I am trusting you'll be as disturbed by this as I am. Tonight Josh, Ella & I ran to Habaneros for a quick bite to eat. Ella was being really good and Josh wanted to get a movie, so we ran to Wal-Mart. Of course, we let Ella pick out a toy tonight for being so sweet! We decided against a movie for her since we didn't want to fight her for the TV, so we took a spin down the Barbie aisle. She first picked up a princess which was really cute and at $10 it was a steal. Then Josh spied this Barbie & ...
My tummy hurts
Ella's excuse for everything is that her tummy hurts. A few months ago we noticed, especially in the car, that whenever we got onto her she would tell us her tummy hurt. It didn't take long to figure out that it was just her way of diverting our attention from the matter at hand. A few nights ago we ate dinner with my parents. Ella & Poppy were in the floor playing and building a block tower. After several minutes, Poppy got up and sat in his chair and Ella moved on to playing with her dishes. Gran reminded her that she needed to clean up the blocks first, but she was pretty much ignored. I told her that the blocks had to be put away before she could play with anything else. Her response? "But, Mommy, my tummy hurts." I told her that I didn't care, the block needed to be put away. ...
Look at my face…
I swear, I'm learning that everything I say is free game for repeating by Ella. Good and bad. There are things that I say that can't be classified as bad, but certainly sound ridiculous coming out of her mouth. "Look at my face" is one of them. I must say this all the time because I hear her repeating it to everyone... her barbies, her babies, the dog. Last night I was putting Ella in the bathtub and the following occurred. After running the bath and plopping her in, I gave her a baby doll and rag to play with. I turned around to do a few things and heard a few interesting words. I turned around and the doll was upside down, legs spread in one hand. In the other, was a rag wrapped around her finger and she was furiously scrubbing the baby's hiney!! This is what I heard... "You gotta ...
My One and Only Political Post!
I know that you all know today was election day. I probably waited with most of you in line tonight! I love to hear voting stories and all about your experience. Here's mine: Ella went with me to vote during the primary election and since she never forgets a thing, she totally knew what we were talking about when we said we needed to "bote." Tonight when I got to my parents' house to pick her up, she swiped my sticker. Then she said, "You bote?" I answered, "Yes." She said, "You bote? Bote. Bote. Gently down the stream. Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily. Life is but a dream." I freakin' LOVE my two year old. I bet your voting story isn't as good as mine! ...
Belly-ache a Comin’
We don't eat a lot of candy in our house. It's not that we don't love it, but none of us like to share it (!) and we really try to get Ella to be a good eater. When there is junk in the house, it's the only thing she wants. If we only have veggies and whole-grain bread, she eats it just a heartily. We don't let her have soft drinks, ever. She only eats "junk" and sugary snacks on special occasions. Well, yesterday was a special occasion... it was two days after Halloween! For our afternoon snack, we threw on an old t-shirt, rounded up all the leftover Halloween candy and had a feast. When we asked if she wanted it, she told us that it wasn't "yours (mom) and yours (dad)" it was for Ella and she was going to "eat it all done!" We had a chat about sharing. Then she said, "but you don't ...
Everyone…
Today were all at home. All of us. Every one! This is the first weekend that I can remember when Josh, Ella, Beemer and I didn't have anywhere to be. We convinced Josh to watch football at home so that we could spend the day in our jammies, drinking coffee, making cheese toast and doing lots of snuggling. Boy have we missed our daddy! Here is the daily recap: While I was blogging and enjoying my first cup of coffee this morning, Ella was indulging in donuts and watching Franklin, Beemer was playing outside and Daddy was still snoozing. Ella came running to me and said, "Is Daddy at home?" When I told her yes she wanted to wake him up. After he wiped the sleep out of his eyes, Ella gave us all lessons on how to use her Disney flashlight. By "us", I mean Daddy, Mommy and Bunny. That's ...
