My new boots! Well, they aren't really new, but Ella thinks they are. A friend gave them to her last year, but they were a little big. She has recently re-discovered them and is in love. A few nights ago she wore them over some footed fleece pajamas. Tonight, just boots and a pull-up. You never know what you might see around this house. Ella is sleeping well in her big girl bed. She doesn't even realize she can get out in the mornings without permission! Say a small prayer that this continues for some indefinite amount of time. ...

Love at first sight…
Because I know I don't say it enough, this child is a.maz.ing and so is my sister for taking such fabulous pictures. I think I'm going to share one a day from this photoshoot for the foreseeable future. ...
Big Girl Bed!
Isn't it beautiful? I know I said I was going to blog about a great DIY project, but we were all so excited that we didn't take any pictures until after we were done! Instead, here is a recap. I drew the shape of the headboard and had Poppy cut it out of mdf. Gran made the slipcover and I took it to be monogrammed on Tuesday. Josh picked up my mattress yesterday and I bought all of the linens at Homegoods & Ross. I used a twin-sized egg crate mattress for the foam on the headboard (we just turned it over so the smooth side faced out) and then stapled the slipcover in place. The bed frame is two pieces of mdf with cross-pieces for stability. We left the sides open on both sides and I bought baskets and bins to slide underneath. These hold extra linens, pull-ups and toys. The original ...
The Best Day
I know I already blogged about Taylor Swift this week, but when it comes to country music, I really like her. Today on my way home from work I was finally listening to the entire album instead of just Love Song. I heard this song and it reminds me of days with my mom. I hope and pray Ella feels this way about me one day... I'm five years old, it's getting cold, i've got my big coat on. I hear your laugh, and look up smiling at you, i run and run past the pumpkin patch, and the tractor rides, look now the sky is gold. i hug your legs and fall asleep on the way home. i dont know why all the trees change in the fall, i know you're not scared of anything at all, don't know if snow white's house is near or far, but i know i had the best day with you today. i'm thirteen now and ...
Daddy’s girl
Today, Ella got to stay at home again. This time with her daddy. They went out for breakfast this morning, watched cartoons and listened to Taylor Swift. All day long. Ella has decided since her new album came out on Tuesday that it's her new favorite. She walks around the house saying "I listen to Taylor Swift again." Tonight is no exception. Now she wants to watch the video on YouTube. She knows EVERY word. I asked him to be a daddy-blogger today and take lots of pictures. He didn't even hesitate before telling me no. He did, however, take a few pictures of Ella & Taylor. In case I haven't said this before, I want to eat her. Every bite. What is it about your own kids that are so cute you could physically consume them? Here are a few more pictures from last night of our two best ...
Sick Day #2
So, I thought today would be different. I thought Ella would be sick and cuddly and I'd feel well enough to scrapbook and blog. Not so much. Ella felt fantastic and Mommy & Daddy were the ones who were sick and cuddly. For that reason, picture taking and sick day blogging didn't go as planned. I didn't make the French toast for breakfast I was planning. Instead I drank a pot of coffee and Ella had yogurt and a fruit bar. I didn't scrapbook or do any holiday decorating. Instead I read books about Christmas decorations, cleaned out Ella's closet and watched design shows on HGTV. Ella played hard all day and was as good as gold. Daddy ran to Subway and brought us yummy sandwiches for lunch. Did I mention that I'm still in my pajamas and look quite ridiculous? Here are the pictures that I ...
Sick Day #1
Last night all was well. We'd had a great night and I managed to get into bed at a record time. 8:30! It's a good thing, because about 12:30 I heard Ella crying. I gave her a few minutes because she always calms down, but when she continued crying I went in to check on her. I opened her door and she said, "I'm sorry. I make a mess." Precious. Lucky for her, the blanket and bunny escaped relatively unharmed. I cleaned her up and put her in the with Josh while I cleaned her sheets. When I put her down with her daddy she said to him, "I throwed up so you gotta hold me." She slept okay for about an hour and then got sick again. Lucky for me, Nana was keeping her today anyway so off she went this morning, only to get sick again! All morning she told us, "I throwed up. I went aaccchhh." Yes, it ...
