After ten months of practice, Ella's first year of dance is finally coming to an end. Yesterday afternoon, we made the drive into town for dress rehearsal. We were already running late, traffic was horrible, we had to hit a drive-thru for lunch and Ella got carsick on the way there. To say it was stressful, is putting it VERY mildly. Thank goodness we left Sophie at home! We made it just in time to get her all dolled up and on-stage for her tap routine, but I didn't get to take any pictures of her in costume. I made up for it before the ballet routine, though. The girls had so much fun in the dressing room getting fancy and hanging out with their friends until time to line up. K went with me to take pictures of them on-stage so that I could videotape their performance {there are no ...

Two "Big" Ellas
Saturday night, we had the pleasure of heading to a swim club for a birthday party for our good friend Ella Matthews. Since the Ellas don't see each other at school every day, I was hoping they would remember each other well and have a good time. The mommies were worried for nothing! These two picked up right where they left off and had a wonderful time swimming and chasing each other around. Hanging out with Parker & Connor Swimming in the big pool And the baby pool! Enjoying a yummy hot dog together Singing Happy Birthday and opening presents We all got a good laugh when "big" Ella's daddy called them out of the pool for cake and presents. He called them "big" Ella and "little" Ella. Ella Matthews said, "Dad, we're two big Ellas now." Too cute! ...
Saddle Ridge Ranch
Day one and day four of Vacation Bible School 2010 This summer was Ella's first experience with Bible School at our church. Three years is the youngest group of kids eligible to participate. Any other summer, I would be working and have a hard time getting her there and back, but maternity leave afforded me the flexibility to make sure she went. And she LOVED it. On Tuesday, she was a little nervous about her first day. I took her in and helped her find the row in the sanctuary where her class would sit. She was the first one in her class and was brave enough to wait by herself until the other kids joined her. Let me say, walking out of the church without her was hard! I ran errands close by and went back to pick her up when it was over. She was the only person in her class that ...

Girly Days
"This is a girly day, isn't it, momma?" That's what Ella said to me over our lunch date yesterday. When I agreed, she said, "Girly days are fun. I don't really like boy days." I'm not sure what boy days are, but I'm glad she was enjoying herself. SD has been pressuring me to get Ella's hair cut for some time. Can you believe she is almost four years old and has never had a haircut? At first, I was worried about cutting the curls off and them never coming back. Then, it just got so pretty and I couldn't imagine parting with any of it. Recently, it was well below her waist when wet and right at her waist when dry and curly. He was right... it was time. I tried making her an appointment the week before Sophie was born and she wouldn't go. She panicked, thought she might have short hair ...
Summer Days
We did again today and I'm happy to say this is the plan for the next five to six weeks. Sleepy mornings in pajamas and lazy afternoons by the pool. Ella did much better today. No screaming, just foot kicking, tip-toe walking goodness. I love summer. ...
