Since the last two day in the life posts I've shared have been odd and childless days, I wanted to be sure and share a more typical day for this month's link up. It still had its atypical moments, but I think that might be par for the course as a parent, right?! Let's take a peek inside Tuesday, August 8th. The girls started school last week and I managed to capture the first day antics on film. This is a very typical look at a school day morning: Sophie making weird faces while eating gluten free oats for breakfast, Ella debating the necessity of breakfast while filming musical.ly videos on her iPad (looking thirteen), and me attempting to make something pass as a respectable lunch when I haven't been to the grocery store in well over a week. The red bin is our designated GF bin, so we ...

Remember last month when I told you that I was sharing an atypical day? It was atypical, because my kids are rarely ever out of town without me and I can't remember the last time I had a day completely to myself. Well, it happened again. Josh's parents decided to head to the beach for a week and we hadn't made any plans to join them. I'm trying to save my remaining vacation days for our anniversary trip and the Christmas holidays, so I didn't want to take off from work and since the puppy isn't fully vaccinated, we can't board her or leave her with another pet owner just yet. Ultimately, I decided to take one for the team and stay behind to care for her. Josh and the girls were only gone for a few days, but it was super relaxing and I didn't do anything even remotely productive. Wanna ...
The Daily Dime | June 2017
This month's edition might be the most atypical day in the life post I've ever shared on the blog. After our crazy dance filled weekend, Josh took the girls and headed down to the beach a few days ahead of me. Since he works remotely, he can easily relocate to our favorite place and never miss a beat. It's hard for me to take two full weeks off from work, so I usually head down on Wednesday evening after work and join them for the remainder of the trip. It is the best eleven days of my entire year. For the first time in forever, I had an entire day to myself on Sunday and thought I would document that for you instead of a typical work day later in the week. Spoiler alert: it was glorious. 10:00 a.m. | I finally got out of bed. All week, my plan had been to work out at 10:30 to get ...
The Daily Dime | May 2017
One of the things I love sharing the most around here, is a regular day in the life post. I used to think it was weird to assume that anybody cared about a boring and mundane day in our life. BUT I love reading those kinds of posts from other bloggers, and I especially love looking back on what we were doing a month ago, a year ago, and more! So, let's talk about Saturday. I don't sleep late. Ever. I used to sleep much later than I do, but when we moved back in November, I completely changed my morning routine. I love getting up early with my mom for coffee and figured I should take advantage of that time together for as long as we live together. She jokes that she hasn't had quiet time (I'm the family talker) in six months, but I think she secretly loves it. Most weekdays I get up ...

Remember last month when we talked about the 11th instead of the 10th? Maybe I should just switch the days I share for my day in the life posts or maybe I'm just destined to be a day late. I remember looking at my calendar on Friday and noting that Monday would be the day I documented, but it wasn't until about two o'clock in the afternoon that I realized I didn't grab my camera and hadn't even thought about it. Here's to Tuesday the 11th instead! This day started out like pretty much every other weekday in recent history. I curled up in the sunroom with a deep cup of coffee and a ...

Again, I tried to document the tenth of the month, but was unsuccessful. I try not to talk about my real job too much on the blog -- for my own privacy and the confidentiality of our clients -- but I'm sure I've mentioned here that I'm a litigation paralegal. I've been in trial much of the last two weeks, so my posts have been less frequent and I've been absent from social media. I tried snapping a few iPhone photos on the tenth, but there wouldn't have been anything to share except less than amazing takeout and my walks to and from the courthouse. What do you say we talk about March 11th ...
A February Day in the Life
I love the idea of documenting a random day of the month to show you what life looks like on a more regular basis, but perhaps I should have set a reminder on my phone, or considered that the day I planned to document, was the day after we returned from San Diego and jet lag would completely erase all coherent thoughts from my head. It might not be the day I had planned, but I did at least choose a day when nothing special was going on -- I'm vowing to bring you a random snapshot of our lives each month, not a scripted, activity-filled adventure. Meet February 13th. Even though I've been utterly exhausted, I'm making myself get up early in an attempt to reclaim my regular schedule. I drank too much coffee in the sunroom (the light and view are beautiful in the morning!), while ...
A January Day in the Life
It was clear from my reader survey, that one of the things you want most, is a glimpse into our every day life. While sometimes it seems too uninteresting to share, the overwhelming response was that you love real, normal, life. I do my best to share the good, the bad, and the ugly, but I thought it might be even more fun to share a regular peek into an average day around our home (or elsewhere, depending on the day). Welcome to January 10th. Tuesday was pretty atypical. Sophie had an appointment at the Children's Hospital GI Clinic at 2 o'clock in the afternoon and while that's blocks from my office, it's an hour from home. We kept her out of school and she made the trip with me. Armed with a fully charged iPad and plenty of art supplies, she kept herself busy while I ran all ...
