31 Things
Today is January 31st. Today is our sweet daddy's thirty-first birthday. To celebrate, I thought I'd share 31 things I that I like about him today. 1. He's a daddy who loves sweet little girls who wake up early to color birthday cards. Ella and Molly making birthday cards this morning while SD slept in. 2. That for thirteen years (tomorrow) he's known me better than anyone else. 3. He might be the funniest person I have EVER met. He sings, dances and makes the most off-the-wall comments and it definitely keeps me laughing. 4. He is the best daddy ever. He indulges Ella for the most part, but disciplines her when it's necessary. 5. He builds really good castles, loves to do "fun tricks" and tortures us incessantly. 6. He makes the best hamburgers ever. Seriously. Mine ...
Date with Daddy
I decided to take the week off between Christmas and New Years Day so that Ella and I could stay home and spend lots of time together playing with our toys, resting and enjoying the last of the decorations. Unfortunately, daddy had to go back to work so we were on our own for much of the week. She begged all week to go outside and play with her new golf clubs and t-ball set, but it was freezing around here! I convinced her to wait for daddy and finally on the Sunday afternoon after NYD we managed to pull it off. It was cold, but we managed to last for about two hours and had a wonderful afternoon in the sunshine. Here are a few of my favorite moments... taking a swing with SD one of the few times she didn't let the bat go flying towards her daddy! concentration at its ...
A Promise is a Promise
Today was the big day. When I got to Garan's this afternoon Ella was beyond excited. She was all dolled up and the only thing for me to do was whip up a ballerina hairdo. She got up on the ottoman in the sunroom and gave me a couple of good poses. That girl is good at taking pictures! Isn't her dance bag cute? I couldn't bear to spend a lot of money, so I picked up a $2 tote bag from Hobby Lobby, had it monogrammed and added pink rick rack and ball fringe! When we got to class we saw some girls we knew and we were a little more relaxed. The mommy's got to go in for a few minutes which was fun. I swear I was on the verge of tears the entire time. I know that's silly, but she looked so big and did such a great job. There are about 18 kids in her class and two boys - she was very happy ...
Sweet Daddy
Today when I picked Ella up from Garan's she asked if SD was at home. She's so used to him being gone during the week that she was very surprised when I said yes. She said, "Oh! Is he spending the night with us tonight?" ...

Happy Mother’s Day
I used to dream of being a mother without knowing if that would ever happen. I still dream of making more babies without knowing how that will turn out. Either way, I cannot imagine my life being any better than it is today. My house may be small, but it's cozy and old and it's where we brought our sweet Ella home that very first time. My floors may be dusty and the laundry not folded, but my daughter is snuggled on the couch, happy and healthy. We may not have a lot of money or a lot of things, but I have a wonderful husband who provides for me spiritually, emotionally and financially. My day got off to a great start. Ella slept with us last night, so I got to snuggle her early this morning. She & SD made me pigs in a blanket for breakfast this morning. This is funny because Ella ...
Let’s Talk About Daddies
Is there a conversation you like to have over and over? When I was a little girl I would climb up in my mother's lap and say "Let's talk." When she asked me what I wanted to talk about, I said "Gulf Shores." We have always loved the beach and my favorite thing to do was to talk about all the things we would do and see once we got there. Hearing her tell me about those conversations has always been so sweet. Now Ella has a favorite conversation. She'll climb in my lap or Josh's and say "Let's talk about daddies." This is the conversation that takes place. Josh: Who is Ella's daddy? E: Josh Josh: Who is Beemer's daddy? E: Daddy Josh: Who is daddy's daddy? E: Cookie* Josh: Who is mommy's daddy? E: Poppy* Josh: Who is Kamin's daddy? E: Cory? Josh: No E: Poppy Josh: ...
