Three posts in three days -- who am I even? I'm pretty sure I said this in yesterday's post, but as sad as I was to go back to work this week, it has it's advantages. Maternity leave was wonderful and I'll miss those lazy days at home with Polly, but I'm equally excited to embrace real life and see how Polly fits into all of the wonderful things we were already doing together. The next few months are filled with some of my very favorite days and it's so fun to have her be apart of both the traditions and the normal, every day moments. Hopefully now that I'm not holding a baby eighteen hours a day, I'll have a little more time to share what we've been up to! Also, I drafted this post last night and realized AFTER it published that I used the prompts from last month, so please excuse the ...

I'm not sure if your brain just eradicates all memories of childbirth, maternity leave, and sleepless nights or if it was just because it had been so long since we had an infant in our home, but I had extremely unrealistic expectations of how our first month at home together would go. I had an editorial calendar planned with three post ideas a week and it honestly never occurred to me that I wouldn't feel like / have time / want to blog at all. C-Section recovery isn't easy (I'm still getting there) and getting to know a new person who is all of the sudden a part of your family is hard work. If I hadn't been so excited about sharing our birth story and delivery photos with you guys a few weeks ago, this would probably be my first attempt at blogging post-Polly. She's a month old today ...

Today's post will be super brief, because WE'RE HAVING A BABY?! I know I've mentioned that we were within a few days of delivery, but I haven't shared many specifics, just because I didn't want an influx of questions that I didn't have time to respond to. We are having a baby today, barring any scheduling conflicts with mamas already in labor, so by the time you read this, we might already be a family of FIVE. I love record keeping and didn't want a gap in this series of posts, so I scheduled this a few days ago and hope that it tides you over until we have baby pictures to share. P.S. I know my blog has already turned into baby central, but let me apologize that these answers will probably all be related to pregnancy and delivery. It's all I have to talk about at the ...

I'm not sure I've mentioned it on the blog yet, but we're having to move our driveway from the street our home faces, to the one on our side (our property is in a corner). It's a long, convoluted story, but the short version is -- the drive is too close to a hill and poses a traffic hazard, even though it's been there for thirty years. We gated the original drive this week, so to take this photo -- I had to drive all the way to the gate, get out in the pouring rain, hop back in the car and back down to our other drive. I told my family before I left this morning, not to think I had forgotten about the new drive, I just needed to snap a photo for the blog! It's super weird to think that the next time I take a photo of our house, it will be during baby's birth month?! I remember back in ...

I'm always amazed at how quickly months tick by now that I'm a grown up, but there is something about being pregnant that puts the calendar into overdrive! My family jokes that we spend our entire year anticipating June, so it's really sad when our annual camping trip is over. I've gotten all of my photos edited (finally), so I'm hoping to share those with you all soon. It's crazy to think that we've just embarked on the second half of this year. The first half was wonderful, but we have much to look forward to in the coming months. celebrating | I'm celebrating the end of a nasty two week cold -- being sick when you're pregnant is miserable and not having full access to your medicine cabinet makes it even worse. I'm also celebrating the fact that I passed my gestational diabetes ...

Of all of the months in 2018, May seems to have passed by the quickest. I can't say that I'm upset about it, because the end of school and extra-curricular activities brings with it a lot of added stress. I swear I was writing a check to the school twice a week and the kids always had something extra to purchase or carry with them to class. Between teacher appreciation, class parties, and fifth grade graduation -- I was overwhelmed and broke by the time Memorial Day came around! Ella has a few more days of dance practice and Sophie is taking a hiatus from piano this summer, so I'm adjusting my work schedule accordingly and we are going to spend plenty of afternoons and evenings at the pool. traveling | We are only days away from our annual beach vacation and we cannot wait. For the ...

Being behind seems to be a theme in my life right now. It's not that I'm not feeling well or am overwhelmed, it's just that there is so much to do in this season of life. The school year is nearing a close and on top off all of the regular end of the year tasks, Ella has 5th grade graduation, so when you add OB appointments, house projects, and life -- it starts stacking up. This is looking like a "two post a day" week, so buckle up for some much needed blog catch up. celebrating | We are all busy celebrating the end of the year around here! The girls have only seventeen days of school left and they are both so eager for summer. Ella's 5th Grade graduation is in a few weeks (what?!) and she is so excited to be moving on to middle school next year. The thing she's probably ...

I've been feeling really guilty about my posting schedule for the last few months, but I realized yesterday that it's silly to fret over. Instead of being frustrated that I can't post here daily -- I'm going to share when I feel like it, when I have time, and when I'm inspired -- and stop worrying about all of the days in between. We have been so busy with house projects, doctor's appointments, and extracurricular activities, that it feels like the year is flying by. I'm trying so hard to savor these days being pregnant (seriously, this is my last one) and I feel like the weeks are slipping through my fingers already. Slow down, time! showering | Occasionally? Okay, that's sort of a joke, but I finding myself so frustrated with the entire process of showering right now. I love to be ...
