It's been awhile since I brain-dumped here, so I thought I would catch you up on a few things that don't necessarily warrant their own post. We've been super busy getting things ready for the holidays (do you ever just get to enjoy this season?!), and in the midst of that, so many wonderful things have happened. Since there was such a big gap between my pregnancy with Sophie and my pregnancy with Polly, I didn't actually keep very many things of the big girls. I gave my sister most of the things my mom sewed and packed away their hospital gowns and coming outfits, but I couldn't justify keeping 17 bins of toddler clothes. There are many things that I regret giving away, but just when I start to have a pity party, my sister unearths a treasure I thought long gone. Most of the ...

Hello, Friday [June 7, 2019]
Y'all. It's the Friday before vacation, which is equally exciting and terrifying, since my to-do list is so incredibly long. Ella has dress rehearsal today, which means Josh is on baby duty and we'll be rolling in well after dark. There's nothing like repacking your dance bags, doing a load of laundry, and getting up bright and early to do the whole thing over again tomorrow! Our pool had to have some major upgrades this year, so we were a little later to kick off summer than usual. Since the liner and steps and lights (oh my!) were replaced, we've been spending every waking minute outside. Jennifer and Allen brought their kids over for a swim last weekend and it was so fun watching these two together in the pool. We tried to grab some photos of them before the day was over and it ...
Hello, Friday [May 24, 2019]
Why does the last week of school seem so long? I can't decide if it's the promise of Memorial Day and a long lazy summer or the monumental to-do list, but either way -- I'm glad it's over! My parents officially opened the pool this week and the kids are so happy. Who am I kidding? I am so happy. We uncovered it a few weeks ago, but it was completely empty and we knew there was a leak that had to be dealt with. We've all be a little panic stricken over whether or not it would be ready to swim before Monday, but all is well in the shallow end these days. There were a few repairs, a new pump, this pretty blue liner, and fresh set of steps. Both of my big girls skipped out on the last day of school in favor of a full day of water fun. I need to share some photographs on the blog or ...
Hello, Friday [May 3, 2019]
Hello, Friday, I thought you would never come. Am I the only one that felt like this week lasted forever? I'm usually lamenting how fast the time flies, but it feels like forever since the weekend. There are plenty of links in today’s post, but none of them are affiliate links. I'm not going to start with "I owe you a post on," because that list could get long, really fast. But, I definitely owe you a full post on baby led weaning or infant self-feeding. The last eight weeks have been quite the journey, but we are finally getting the hang of things. I'm starting to see a pattern in the kinds of foods Polly loves (not chicken) and she's actually eating things instead of just playing with them. Waffles, raspberries, and sliced turkey were a few new additions that got high praise ...
Hello, Friday [April 26, 2019]
It's been sixteen days since the last time I posted and I miss this. Life has been more than a little hectic this month -- my calendar looks absurd -- and I feel like I'm just coming to the surface. I have so much to share over the next few weeks, but I thought a short post to say hello was in order. I mentioned in January that I wanted to share regular "coffee date" posts with you and I've randomly decided that we'll do them on Friday. Not necessarily every Friday, but maybe so. It will be an easy way to document our daily lives without the stress and planning of a full blog post, although I'm hoping to share some of those, too. There are plenty of links in today's post, but none of them are affiliate links. We bought a house on Wednesday and we didn't even have to move! That ...
Coffee Talk | January 2019
Why don't we have two catch me up blog posts back to back? My plan had been to start sharing these at the end of each month, but I guess the first week works, too. I kept meaning to get my computer out over Christmas break, but every day that went by without screen time was a good one. The longer I went, the less I wanted to do anything productive. I'm planning to start recapping our holiday next week, along with our Disney World trip (finally), but I'm hoping to finish up this week with a photo recap of last year. If we were on a coffee date, I would tell you that our holiday was magic. There were so many things that were different this year -- nobody in my house believes in Santa Claus, we added a baby to our celebrations, several holiday events were rearranged, and Josh had to ...
Coffee Talk | November 2018
Remember long ago, when I used to share a monthly Coffee Talk post? I think I started by linking up with another blogger, but I'm not sure that's still a thing. I do know that I miss that sort of monthly brain dump and in the spirit of our new blogging philosophy, a chat over my morning cup seemed like the perfect way to share an otherwise unrelated list of things. If we were on a coffee date, I would tell you that my readers and followers seem to agree about the current state of the blogosphere. I do like sharing what I'm buying sometimes, but it feels like that's the only thing bloggers are talking about these days. I miss sharing what is on my heart and the more mundane moments of life with small children, so I'm going to make a shift during the month of December, so that 2019 ...
