I know today isn't the *actual* coffee date link up day, but I did not have the brain power for anything more than a few paragraphs, so a mini life-update it is. If we were on a coffee date, I’d tell you that time away with your person is the best. I laughed more, slept harder, and had more fun in the last five days that I can remember in a really long time. I can't wait to show you all of the photos and recount a few funny stories, but the short version is: time away from real life is vital. If we were on a coffee date, I’d tell you that I really hate flying. I used to tell people that I didn't mind flying, but the real truth is -- I could totally do without it. I have a hard time sitting in one position for very long, so not being able to stretch out or "switch sides" is ...

Coffee Talk 012
If we were on a coffee date, I'd tell you that I am worried this post is a little repetitive. You assured me last month that you like all the recap and update posts, but it's likely a little overkill that I posted two of them within thirty minutes. If we were on a coffee date, I'd tell you that I'm drinking my coffee at home these days. Since we moved and are house sharing with my parents, I drink coffee much more regularly than before. I can always get someone to share a pot of coffee with me. For example, I fell asleep for thirty minutes watching television tonight and I knew I needed a pick me up. I started making a pot of coffee and my dad said, "Yes, please!" I'm currently downing my second cup and this coconut creamer is life. If we were on a coffee date, I would tell you that ...
Coffee Talk 011
If we were on a coffee date, I would tell you that I completely missed our coffee date. It was Monday, if you must know, and I was still recovering from our quick Chattanooga road trip. I blew you off in favor of a little more sleep. If we were on a coffee date, I would tell you that Ella's competition went so well. I haven't talked much about her season, but the last few weeks have been rough. Her first performance was so good and they won almost everything they could have. Following that with two lackluster performances was hard. She's easily discouraged and it took some major pep talks to survive the last few weekends. Everyone needs a good dose of humility, so we've been talking a lot about being a good sport and having a good attitude and not letting awards dictate our feelings. ...
Coffee Talk 010
If we were on a coffee date, I would tell you that I finally got my life together! I spent a few afternoons last week, going through paperwork, organizing my planner, making [and checking off] lists and generally feeling better about myself. I have been such a bad adult this year and I've told you all numerous times that I was going to get it together, but I actually did it this time. If we were on a coffee date, I would ask you if you knew about the Healthy Living App from EWG. I've been using their site for a few months to read more about the products we're buying and I just discovered this month that there is an app. Josh makes fun of me for being a hippy on a regular basis, but even he got me to scan a few things on our early morning Walmart date over the weekend. It has turned into ...

I woke up this morning (Sunday) to an empty carton of coffee creamer and a frown on my face. Daylight Saving is not for the faint of heart. Fortunately, our church campus has a delightfully delicious mocha that only set me back $2 and I'm now well on my way to being a functioning human again. Just like every month, I'm joining Erin today for a coffee date. Wanna come? If we were on a coffee date, I would tell you that I'm behind. Not just the kind of behind that takes a few hours or even a few days, but way behind. I had big plans to take February by the horns, but post vacation I just couldn't get it together. March brought two huge projects at work and I've done little else than survive for the last several weeks. I am starting to see the sun glint over the horizon, so I'm ...

If we were on a coffee date, I would tell you that jet lag is a real thing. I have never had a problem adjusting after travel (granted we don't typically fly too far from home), but this California recovery has been rough. The kids bounced back pretty quickly, but Josh and I are both still struggling. I'm getting up at the right time every day, but I cannot go to sleep at night. Eleven o'clock feels like nine o'clock and before I know it, my potential sleep for the night is dwindling away. How do you ever recover? If we were on a coffee date, I would tell you that we watched Into the Wild last night and it was GOOD. Josh and I have always been big movie people, but for whatever reason we watched only a handful in 2016 (I blame Netflix). We have started the year strong and have been ...

I'm in the middle of Whole30 or I would be drinking something delicious! Instead, it's coffee, coconut cream and cinnamon -- but at least that's delicious. Amber is still on hiatus, but Erin has our coffee dates going strong. If we were on a coffee date, I would tell you that our weekend was a little eventful. If you've been watching the news you'll know that the south was slated to get a wintry mix this weekend. We were in the range for the highest amount of snow, but of course -- we got nothing. We live in a weird little place and always avoid the most severe weather. There is certainly an upside to that (tornadoes), but my kids weren't thrilled about missing out on the snow. Here's the tricky part. Josh was in Philadelphia this week. He wasn't scheduled to land in Birmingham ...

If we were on a coffee date, I would tell you that today is goody day at my office and it's the very best office holiday of the year! No, it's not remotely healthy (hello gluten & sugar), but it's delicious and super fun to visit everyone as you fix your second third plate. I made these herbed crackers and Ella begged to take some for her afternoon snack today. Since Sophie is gluten free for now, I had to whip up something she could have, too! I melted allergen free chocolate chips, then almond butter, then topped it with crushed gf chocolate chips. I broke it apart into fudge-y chunks and it was amazing. Two work treats and two afternoon snacks complete. If we were on a coffee date, I would tell you that I am finally done with my Christmas shopping. Josh would tell you that I say ...
