Your support of my reading habit is always appreciated! I'm not sure why I couldn't read in July, but I had no desire to turn a single page. Josh has been working sixteen hours a day/seven days a week. I haven't cooked a single time this month (meaning I completely failed at my Whole30). We pulled the plug on our cable, so I've been catching up on the DVR before it vanishes into nothing in a few days. I had so many hours of podcasts to catch up on after being at the beach for two weeks last month. I just didn't have the time to fit reading in and if I'm being honest, I wasn't interested in ...

What I Read in June
Warning: Affiliate links appear in the following post. Although shopping the embedded links won’t cost you any additional dollars, it might mean that I download a few extra audio books this month. Your support of my reading habit is always appreciated! I was hoping to be able to tell you I conquered double-digits this month, but it just wasn't in the cards. I'm going to publicly acknowledge the fact that I have two (demanding) children, a blog and a full time job, so endless hours of reading every day isn't something I can commit to. Some of my favorite book-reviewing bloggers knock it out of the park every month and I'm always so jealous! I keep reminding myself that I'm not in that season of life right now. Four to six books a month is super reasonable for me, especially when two of ...
What I Read in May
Affiliate links appear in the following post. Although shopping the embedded links won’t cost you any additional dollars, it might mean that I download a few extra audio books this month. Your support of my reading habit is always appreciated! After a few slow months, it was so nice to finish up six books last month. This is probably more in line with my previous reading habits -- we've had so much going on this year that my monthly page count has been significantly lower than what I'm used to! Josh traveled a good bit at the beginning of the month and since most of our television watching is done together, I avoided Netflix and the DVR in favor of turning pages. Add in several weekends devoted to poolside lounging and I managed to just sneak ahead of my yearly goal! Now who wants to ...
What I Read in March

Your support of my reading habit is always appreciated! Despite a slow start, I managed to get five books read this month. My "to read" list is growing exponentially, but I'm working slow and steady to cross them off. I know that come summer, I'll read far more than one book a week, so as long as I continue to squeeze in 4-5 per month, I should stay right on track! I've gotten into a historical fiction funk, so you'll see a few of those this month and (spoiler alert) a few more in April. I've also been thinking that I need to add a library card to my list of things to do. That's right, I don't even ...
What I Read in February
Warning: Affiliate links appear in the following post. Although shopping the embedded links won’t cost you any additional dollars, it might mean that I download a few extra audio books this month. Your support of my reading habit is always appreciated! Who's ready for February's Books?! When I first started drafting this post (I usually try to write the reviews immediately after I finish each book so that I don't forget anything!), I thought this might be a slow month of reading. My goal for the year is 52 books, so I'm trying to average one book per week. I know I will read far more than that over the summer, but I still hate to get behind this early! Most of the time, I'm "reading" two books at once -- I listen to an audio book during my daily commute and then read another book at ...
What I Read in January
Warning: Affiliate links appear in the following post. Although shopping the embedded links won’t cost you any additional dollars, it might mean that I download a few extra audio books this month. Your support of my reading habit is always appreciated! It is no secret that I love to read, but I've been terrible about logging my books into Goodreads or keeping track of how many or which books I've been reading. It also doesn't help that I've read a few sketchy freebies that I'm not sure I would even disclose. I've decided to take a more deliberate approach this year, both to reading and to sharing, so I'll be writing a monthly post categorizing everything single thing I read this year. I love that I'll be able to keep up with exactly how many books I log, I'll be sharing my thoughts on ...
Collaboreads | Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up
image via Make Space This month's Collaboreads link up was all about non-fiction. I just need to go ahead and admit that I am not really a fan of nonfiction books. At all. It doesn't matter how interesting the subject matter or how captivating the story, I can't ever quite make it from cover to cover. I like stories and make believe and escape and non-fiction almost always falls outside of those lines for me. Fortunately, a friend had encouraged me to read this one and since I had an extra Audible credit last month, I decided to download and listen to it instead. I'm not sure I would have finished it if it hadn't been for the audio version, but I'm so glad that I did.If you have lived on planet earth in the last year, I'm sure you've heard about this book or seen its cover floating around ...
Blogtember | Books That Have Impacted My Life
Today's prompt was to share 5 books that have impacted my life the most. When I first read that I started thinking about fiction that I fell in love with that had a lasting impact, but when I walked over to the bookcase, these six books were all stacked together and it seemed like a sign. Yes, I have an extra book in my stack, but I'm hard pressed to tell you which of these I like more than another. Platt, Chan and Hatmaker pretty much rocked my world when it came to Christianity and how to live the Gospel out loud. I had been living a pretty comfortably ignorant "Christian" life until we started reading these books as a part of my small group several years ago. I fell in love with the bold way these authors were living their faith and the ways they interpreted scripture in the face of an ...
