Books are a big deal at our house and even in months where we are overwhelmed with all the things (ahem, May), we make it a priority to read as often as possible. I get a lot of questions about how we cultivate a love of reading in our family and while it isn't easy, it is certainly doable. We ask friends and family to gift the girls books instead of toys and we did that even when they were little bitty girls (remember Sophie's first birthday party?). Josh and I don't often watch television until after they are in bed at night (with the exception of survivor marathons with the girls and college football), so when ...

Book by Book | What I Read in March 2018

I'm not doing so hot with time management these days and this book review post totally snuck up on me. Whhhyyyy do I think I share these on Wednesdays and realize my error every single month? Thank goodness for Rachel, who totally keeps me on my toes! I was thrilled to have a little of my reading mojo back this month. My numbers still aren't what they were last year, but pregnancy is definitely interfering (in the best possible way) with all of my usual habits. I'm still knocking out plenty of audiobooks, but being still enough to read and not falling asleep is hard work. I'm already chipping away at two ...
Book by Book | What I Read in February 2018

February was going to the month I got my reading mojo back... sort of. I did manage to finish up two audiobooks, read my first hold it in your hand book of the year, and get almost done with a book I've been reading since the fall (I know). I'm still not feeling great, but I can definitely tell that I'm turning a corner and I hope that daily reading will be a part of my life again very soon. I'm sorry for getting this post up a few days late, but so thankful for Rachel, who is always on top of things. I feel sure that with my energy and appetite making a reappearance this month, that surely regularly scheduled ...
Book by Book | What I Read in January 2018

January's reading life was lackluster at best. I had such high hopes for the month, with three unfinished titles on tap and so many new books to dig into. Instead, every time I sat down to read, I fell asleep! I can't do much of anything that involves being still and quiet right now, unless I'm okay with taking a nap. I did get through several hundred pages of my other book, but I'm hoping to finish it up early this month and move on to some new material. I also finished up an audiobook that I started in December (I can't exactly fall asleep while driving, so...), so I'm going to review that lonely title for you ...

You can read more about our affiliate relationships here. I knew I wanted to do an annual recap of everything I read this year, but for whatever reason, it seemed really daunting. I loved both of the recap posts I shared at the beginning of 2017 (What Should I Read Next & 52 Books In 52 Weeks), but I wanted to do something a little different. I'm taking cues from them both, listing everything I read this year (with links and ratings) below, and giving you a breakdown of the numbers -- because we all know that I have a thing with infographics, even if this one is less graphic and more info. Favorite Book of 2017: This is How ...
What I Read in December

After pretty much blowing it in November, I had high hopes for the month of December. I knew we would be busy with the holidays, but I had visions of spending eleven days reading beneath the Christmas tree. What really happened, is we holiday-ed super hard and aside from thirty minutes of an audiobook the one time I was in my car alone, I managed to read exactly 34 pages. Whomp whomp. I hesitate to say I'm disappointed -- because our Christmas was wonderful -- but I am sad that I didn't meet my ten book goal for December. But instead of talking about all the books I didn't read last month, let's dive into the ...

Today's post is a little sad, because it's our last month of the Collaboreads Link Up (maybe ever sadder because I didn't even add a linky widget to the post?). Rachel and I have loved hosting and sharing our books with you this year, but we're ready to try something new for 2018 and to invite you to come alongside of us! Just in case this is your first month to find Collaboreads, here’s how it worked! We picked a general theme for each month — this month it was to read a book you could find for free, then you pick a book that fits the theme (we all read different books, which means you weren’t roped into ...
What I Read in November

This is perhaps going to be the most lackluster reading recaps of all time. I have no excuses for why I couldn't get into any books this month, but I struggled to read anything. The only books I made it more than a few pages into were both audiobooks and one of those I haven't even finished. Basically, I'm a failure when it comes to reading this month, but I have high hopes for December. Stay tuned to find out why! 59.
