I decided back in June, that it was much easier for me to share a quarterly (ish) book review post, than trying to keep up with what I'm reading monthly. It's as much about letting books accumulate as it is about having the time to read and then actually write something about the books I'm reading. My to be read pile is growing infinitely larger, so I'm trying hard not to purchase any reading material these days. I have picked up a few things from the library, I have several things in my audible queue already, and I have a fairly large stack of previous BOTM selections that have been ignored for too long. The good ...

It's been a really long time since I posted about reading. Pregnancy and postpartum life just didn't allow for that kind of brain space and now that I'm chasing a moving target, I'm not sure it's much better. I am getting better about using my time wisely, though, and that has meant reading a handful of chapters or listening to an audio book while I work or clean. I'm still not back to my pre-pregnancy volume, but I am starting to remember why I used to make time for this. It might be awhile before my monthly totals are anything to write home about, so in the mean time, I'm planning to write a quarterly post with my ...
Book by Book | What I Read in February 2018

That's right, a single digit accomplishment that was 728 pages long. It seems funny to be so proud of that after having read as many as six or eight books in a month, for the last several years, but motherhood really kicked me in the pants when it comes to my reading life. I had this idea that I would sit around nursing Polly, with a book and a cup of coffee, and that I would tell you grand stories about the books I was checking off my list and the picture books Polly and I were reading together. Ummm, not so much. I should write you a post about what the average day looks like right now, ...

Being back at work this week means that I'm finally on some sort of regular schedule. I'm not claiming to be anywhere close to normal, but I'm trying to get up at the same time and go to bed at a reasonable hour and eat actual meals and read and blog and... you get the picture. Yesterday's return to work was surprisingly uneventful and I spent some much needed time snuggling Polly as soon as I walked in the door. Today's post isn't exactly on time, but it is published, so I'm going to call that a win. As always, head over to read Rachel's post today, because she reads more than two books a month and has ...

I'm pretty sure I've said this every month since January, but this has not been a good month year for reading. It's not for a lack of trying, but especially in August, I've been so tired and distracted and if I'm still long enough to read a few pages -- I fall asleep! I didn't work as many days in the office this month, so I only tackled one audiobook (spoiler alert: it was a great one!). I read Anne's book as a part of her launch team and I've already shared that with you once, and I also picked up a parenting book because I haven't read a single one this entire pregnancy. It was kind of a weird pairing this ...
I’d Rather Be Reading

I was so thrilled to be chosen as a part of the launch team for Anne Bogel's newest book I'd Rather Be Reading. I got an advanced copy to review, plus lots of fun social media goodies, and it's been so neat to see what other readers had to say about this adorable read. I'd Rather Be Reading than: working, driving, sleeping, folding laundry, cooking dinner, dealing with dramatic middle schoolers, preparing for maternity leave, waiting on baby, checking off my to-do list, grocery shopping, unpacking boxes... basically everything on my list except for snuggling our new baby (NEXT WEEK!). From Amazon: For so many people, reading isn't just a hobby or a way to pass the ...

I am so thrilled to have read so many books last month! I'm sure our weekend getaway helped -- I read two, cover to cover, that weekend -- but I just found more time to sneak reading in my daily life and it was so good to feel like my normal self again. We've been super busy this summer and I've hopefully wrapped up most of my bigger projects to accomplish before baby. In theory, that should give me more time to rest and read, but in reality it might just give me more time to nap. I've already wish-listed a few parenting / baby books that I want to read, but I have plenty of BOTM selections to catch up on, too. ...

Woohoo for EIGHT BOOKS read in June! I was averaging a book for every day of our vacation and if I hadn't been so busy the week before and so tired the week after, I probably could have a fit a few more titles into the month. I'm almost finished with another audiobook and just cracked open my first nonfiction read for July, so I'm hoping to have plenty of fun reviews to share with you again in August. I'm trying to be better about sharing my reads -- in real time -- over on my Bookstagram, so join me there if you are tired of waiting until the end of the month for recommendations! 21. THE GREAT ALONE by ...
