Did you know that my father-in-law's name is Cookie? Josh and I dated for almost six years before we got married. For approximately 2 of those years, I had no idea what his father's name was. I remember a conversation about looking up their number in the phone book and I laughed because I wouldn't even know where to begin. It's Frank, by the way... I finally got enough courage to ask. It dawns on me now that we've been together over twelve years at this point and I don't know why we call him Cookie. Maybe in a few more months I'll admit that, too. Cookie's fiftieth birthday was yesterday and we spent the afternoon hanging out in the yard, eating barbecued hamburgers and hot dogs, dancing to sing-a-long birthday cards and stuffing ourselves silly with ice cream cake from DQ. It was a ...

Birthday Girl
Today was K's 24th birthday. We celebrated with pool time, BBQ, the wedding video and ice cream sundaes. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Kamin, we love you! ...
Two Ellas
On Saturday we had the pleasure of attending a birthday for one of my Ella's best friends. Her name is Ella, too and we lovingly refer to her as "Big Ella" since she's four months older and instead of calling my daughter Ella she calls her "Dean Fields." No confusion there. Her party was at Build-A-Bear, which we've never been to and boy was it fun. The kids got to pick out a bear, name it, give it a heart and stuffing, bathe it and dress it. Our bear's name is Peanut and she is wearing a cute polka dot bikini (unfortunately we left her at Garan's this afternoon, so there isn't a picture of the finished product). The photos below are my favorites from the day and there is a link at the bottom of the post for the entire album. I hope you don't mind that I'm not blogging on the ...
A Fancy Birthday Breakfast
Ella & I decided to cook SD breakfast in bed for his birthday and wanted to make it "fancy." So, we donned the spirit of Fancy Nancy herself and got all dolled up. We served sausage balls, sweet tea {he doesn't drink coffee or juice} and presents, of course. Dear Sweet Daddy, Happy 3-0! We love you VERY much and are so glad that you are home {for good} to celebrate with us. You are positively the best daddy and husband we could ask for and we thank God for you every day. You'll be pleased to know you even made the "thankful" list one night this week. We plan on taking good care of you today and making your big day as wonderful as we can. We love you because you: take us to church, provide for us, cut the grass and do dirty chores, cook really good fried chicken, pray for ...
Family Night Supper
It is tradition in my family, especially once you're "too old" for a birthday party, to have Family Night Supper. This means all seven of us {Gran, Poppy, K, Cory, SD, Me & Ella} get together at somebody's house and my mom cooks all of your favorites {unless of course it is her birthday when we cook for her or go out to dinner}, meaning you totally pick the menu and it is good! Tonight was Family Night Supper at K's house and my mom made pot roast, potatoes & carrots, corn, peas and homemade biscuits. We didn't have dessert or birthday cake because Josh doesn't eat sweets {weirdo}, but dinner was fabulous. We had a chance to visit with each other and see how K's house is coming along. As much as I want to wish Sweet Daddy a Happy Birthday, I'm saving that for tomorrow's post. ...
A birthday, slumber party and a little mommy
{sorry that I cut you out, daddies. there are some better pictures of you on the camera, too. I just loved this close up} Today was a busy day, with lots to do, but we managed to cram it all in and have a great time doing it! I had to be at work at ten o'clock and made it home just in time to change clothes and follow Josh & Ella to Isabella's first birthday party. Unfortunately, Leeds mountain didn't agree with Ella's tummy and she wasn't in a great mood when we got there. There's nothing like sweet cousins, birthday cake and presents to cheer her up, though and she was happy in no time. Isabella was adorable in her birthday outfit and she & Ella were so sweet together and even shared bunnies. It was good to see lots of our friends and their precious babies. Here are a few of ...
Michael Kors & Taco Salad
It has a certain ring to it, don't you think? Today I picked up my birthday present from Josh (although it took the birthday money I acquired from other places to finish it off). I have wanted a really nice purse for awhile, but hated the thought of spending any amount of money on one. I finally decided that since I don't really have to carry a diaper bag anymore that it is sort of worth it for me to carry a really nice purse instead. In comes the Michael Kors. Since I couldn't possibly afford one at a department store or at full price, I've been scouting T.J.Maxx. Lucky me, I found the perfect handbag when I dropped by today. I wasn't sure until I looked in the mirror with it on my arm. Do you do that? Try purses "on"? Well, I do and I LOVED it. Okay, so I realize that purses and taco ...
Let them eat cake!
Here we are eating yummy carrot cake after dinner! And my AWESOME sister (have I told you that lately?) bought me this book... I'm so totally excited to read it! ...
