Can I tell you a little story? I am not a pet person. Not even a tiny little bit. I didn't grow up in a house where dogs were the norm and my only experience with animals (beyond a barn cat) were neighborhood dogs that weren't well cared for and got little attention. Until I met Josh. Having grown up with animals his whole life, he told me pretty early in our relationship that we would have an inside dog. I had zero experience with animals in the house and knew absolutely nothing about caring for a pet. We had been married almost nine months when I picked an ad out of the newspaper on a Saturday morning and we drove several hours to pick her up the next afternoon. She was the runt of the litter. She slept on my lap the entire drive home, wearing a red, Hawaiian print collar that I wish we ...
Beemer
Snowpocalypse 2014
Let me tell you a story. Sometime during the winter last year, it snowed. There wasn't much to speak of in our sleepy little town, but there was a more significant amount at my office. I left work as soon as the girls' school announced an early dismissal and started making my way home. I couldn't get onto the expressway near my office because the on-ramp is really steep. I opted to drive across town for gas and an attempt at a different on ramp. Big mistake. It took me nearly two hours to cover twenty blocks and there was an almost-altercation at the gas station. Cell service was spotty and google maps was zero help. Josh ending up navigating me home over the phone and it was an almost 5 hour commute. I vowed that day that I would NEVER commute when there was a chance of snow, no matter ...
Birthday Girl
In the midst of planning Sophie's first birthday, I didn't want to overlook this sweet girl. Beemer is 8 years old today! I never had a dog growing up and Josh doesn't remember not having an inside dog for the majority of his life. We agreed that when we finally got one together we would get a Weimaraner. We had been married seven months when we picked a breeder from the newspaper and set out for Tupelo, Mississippi to pick her up. The breeder was nice enough to meet us halfway and she even brought several female puppies to choose from. She was the runt of the litter and Josh picked her out. I did get to pick out her cute Hawaiian print collar, though! Beemer, April 13, 2010, The Day Before Sophie was Born Beemer has crazy separation anxiety, is very high-maintenance and barks all the ...
Progress & Some Inspiration
I had secretly been dreaming of painting our living area a soft blue color, but couldn't imagine what it might look like. I knew we had to keep our rugs since they were fairly new and a bit of an investment. I wasn't sure how to make soft blue work with all of our natural woods and the yellow and orange in the rooms already. Then I saw this picture in Better Homes & Gardens and just knew it would work. The way the natural wood looks with those walls and the patterned rug. Oh and the curtains! I am in love with the bold blue curtains and cannot wait to replicate that look on a budget for my own room. Now I was convinced, but I just knew Josh was going to die when I mentioned painting the rooms. He didn't even bat an eyelash -- he agreed that after six years in this house we needed an ...
Monday
On Monday, we got out of the house with all three girls. Even if it was in our yard, it was nice to see the sunshine after looking out of a tiny hospital window for three days. ...
Happy
This makes me exceedingly happy. Two sweet rooms for two little girls and a sweet dog to watch over them both. ...
Favorite Fall Find
How cute is this girl in her new collar? I told you I was saving my favorite fall find for another day. I got the collar here at Elisa Lou Designs. She has lots of great items, but I couldn't resist her dog collars. She ran a special during September when you ordered a collar in any fabric, she threw in a Halloween one for free. We can't wait to wear our flowery, girly collar, but at least until the end of the month we'll be sporting this one instead. Please forgive the blurry photos... she's a wiggler! ...
