I have really loved sharing the pages of my Bible this month. There was something so scary about opening up the pages for you in this way. I was completely vulnerable and given the diverse audience I have here, that is always something that makes my heart race just a little bit. For those of you who found your way here for the first time this month, thank you so much for joining me on this journey. I hope you'll stick around and get to know us outside of these pages just a little bit. For those of you who toughed it out and are ready to see real life return, thank you for your patience and indulgence. I know it wasn't everyone's cup of tea and I'm thrilled to know you're here for the long haul. There were many things I wanted to share with you this month that I just didn't get around ...

Floral Embellishments
One of my favorite things to do in my Bible is to add painted embellishments -- especially florals and almost always in watercolor! It's fun because the embellishment can hang off the page a bit and act as the tab. All you need are some black pens or markers in several sizes, a pencil and eraser and some scrap paper. In the past I've used white cardstock, but I picked up this pad of tiny water color papers for $1.99 at Hobby Lobby last week. It is the perfect size for tip-ins and embellishments in my Bible. Pencil Sketch I loosely drew a flower and a few leaves with a pencil on the watercolor paper. I like really loose, contour line drawings with lots of extra lines, but you can draw them in whatever style you like. Add watercolor Using an inexpensive brush and my watercolor ...

Your support of my caffeine habit is always appreciated. The Point: I'm still in the thick of my Beth Moore study (we only meet every other week) and I feel like each time we sit down to hear her speak, my heart is filled to the brim. She brings verses to life in a way that I've never heard and makes them relevant in a way I was never expecting. This past week we were in session eight and we moved between Psalm 32 and Psalm 51. Both were written after the great sin in David's life, the first was written after some reflection -- it's a celebration Psalm -- and the latter was written in real ...
Periscope + Prayer
"And this is the confidence we have towards Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us." 1 John 5:14 I came across the verse on Instagram several days ago and it was paired with a quote that said "I'm not lucky; you have no idea how much I've prayed." I am so guilty of seeing things through the filter of social media and finding myself jealous or trying to figure out how they can afford that or why some people seem to be so blessed when others are hurting. What's worse is when I'm on the receiving end of that same judgement, my feelings are so easily hurt. It is easy to make a passing judgment or claim that it isn't fair when other people are blessed with the things we want for ourselves when we have no idea what they are struggling with on a daily basis. I ...
Kids in the Word

Your support of my caffeine habit is always appreciated. One of the things that I remember vividly from growing up was the amount of time my mom spent in the Word on a regular basis. I'm sure that at the time I didn't see it as a big deal, but any time I've been asked to think back on women in my life who made an impact or things my parents did to help facilitate a relationship with Christ, this is one of the biggest things that stands out in my mind. There was always a basket of some sort with her Bible and a notebook or devotional guide, religious fiction and index cards filled with Bible verses. ...

Your support of this blog is much appreciated! I know what you're thinking... "she can't stick with anything." It's been several days since I posted here and this was supposed to be a month filled with daily images from my Bible. I need you to know that I have tried really hard to keep up - even having several posts drafted ahead of time - but posting daily just doesn't fit well with my life and my schedule. I change my mind a lot, I'm spontaneous, my job is unpredictable and I have children. I don't mean for those to sound like excuses, but they are the reality with which I am dealing. I don't want to feel forced to ...
Children of God

Your support of this blog is much appreciated! "But to all who did receive Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God. John 1:12" Some days, I don't have as much time to spend in Bible study and reflection and on those days I often rely on the Jesus Calling app or the She Reads Truth website to provide a little inspiration. I loved this verse and didn't have anything journaled in the beginning of John, so I decided to add another simple page that would be easy for you to recreate. I didn't edit the video in any way {please forgive any long pauses}, so you can see when I changed my mind ...
