July was crazy busy -- I'm honestly not sure how I managed to squeeze in six books before it ended. Add to those a more than half finished epic novel and a good start on my next audiobook? I'm on quite a roll this summer! 34. THE HATE U GIVE BY ANGIE THOMAS ★★★★☆ | Contemporary Fiction (audiobook) From Amazon: Sixteen-year-old Starr Carter moves between two worlds: the poor neighborhood where she lives and the fancy suburban prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the ...

Our Annual Beach Trip | Part Two
As predicted, the tropical storm rolled right on in the very next day. While the storm raged outside, and the camper did a bit of rocking, we debated whether we should wait it out or head home. The forecast was unpredictable, but things looked promising towards the end of the week and I'm a firm believer that rain at the beach is way better than rain at home. We ultimately decided to enjoy a few lazy days around camp and pray that the sunshine would reappear later in the week. On that first rainy morning, I decided to take advantage of our lack of plans and get all of the laundry done. This was my second trip to the laundromat -- why do we create so much dirty laundry during vacation?! I loaded up six loads (I know, I'm shaking my head, too) of clothes and towels, two crabby girls and ...
What I Read in June

June is always a stellar reading month for me and this one was no exception. A few day at home alone followed by a ten day vacation means I can usually get to double-digits! I didn't read as many books this month as in June's past, but considering that my first read of the month topped 900 pages and I usually stay well under 400, I feel like I accomplished a ton. This appears to be the month of four star reads -- I didn't meet a book I didn't fall in love with. I saved all of my creepy thrillers for the beach and they made for perfect one day reads. Josh finished the sequel to Pillars of the Earth ...
What I Read in May

I really didn't mean to take off an entire week from blogging, but May has been positively insane. With end of the school year shenanigans, dance wrapping up for a few months, and our camper renovation in full swing -- we have been completely overwhelmed. I do have posts planned for tomorrow and Friday, so hopefully we're getting back in the swing of things. I missed you guys! Wait, is June really tomorrow? I know we say it almost every month, but this year is flying by and I can't believe we're within a few weeks of our summer vacation! The girls have been out of school for a week and we're ...
What I Read in April

Thanks to two dance competitions, Easter, and a birthday party in April -- my reading time was minimal. I had a great stack of books on my bedside table for much of the month, but I barely made it through the first chapter of the one on top. The only physical book that I read this month was for our Collaboreads link party and I read it in a single sitting early in the month. The others were audiobooks crammed into fifteen minute painting sessions and extra long morning commutes. I know that summer will bring much more reading time and since May will be spent finishing up our camper reno, I'm going to ...
An April Day in the Life

Remember last month when we talked about the 11th instead of the 10th? Maybe I should just switch the days I share for my day in the life posts or maybe I'm just destined to be a day late. I remember looking at my calendar on Friday and noting that Monday would be the day I documented, but it wasn't until about two o'clock in the afternoon that I realized I didn't grab my camera and hadn't even thought about it. Here's to Tuesday the 11th instead! This day started out like pretty much every other weekday in recent history. I curled up in the sunroom with a deep cup of coffee and a ...
What I Read in March

Who is ready for some fantastic book recommendations for the month? They weren't all five stars, but they were all highly enjoyable! There wasn't a book this month that I wouldn't recommend over and over. Read the Amazon descriptions carefully, a few of these titles might not appeal to my audience at large and may cover some topics you aren't interested in delving deeper into. Book of the Month Club is running a fantastic special right now, so if you're interested in trying out their service FOR $1 DOLLAR, click here. A March Day in the Life

Again, I tried to document the tenth of the month, but was unsuccessful. I try not to talk about my real job too much on the blog -- for my own privacy and the confidentiality of our clients -- but I'm sure I've mentioned here that I'm a litigation paralegal. I've been in trial much of the last two weeks, so my posts have been less frequent and I've been absent from social media. I tried snapping a few iPhone photos on the tenth, but there wouldn't have been anything to share except less than amazing takeout and my walks to and from the courthouse. What do you say we talk about March 11th ...
