Let's catch up. First on the list is an apology. Man, I've been missing from the blogging world for a bit. Can you say busy? I finally bit the bullet and bought an iPhone. All I have to say about that is life-changing. I cannot believe I held out so long, but I'm kind of thankful that the old LG bit the dust. I designed and ordered the cutest personalized cover for my phone and I am SO happy with it. I wish they were cost-effective enough to offer them in the shop, but I'm worried no one really wants to spend $50-55 on a phone cover... even if it is cute. Sophie is a grown woman. Seriously. She has the cutest round teeth on top and is the sassiest thing you've ever seen. She touches everything, empties trash cans, eats bugs and smiles while being defiant. It's exhausting, ...

First Fete: A Recap
I know that it's been more than a week since our little celebration, but we've all needed time to recover. Let's be honest... I needed time to process. I am in awe that she is old enough for a birthday party. Although it seems so long ago that I was waiting for her arrival, at the same time it's so hard to wrap my mind around the fact that she's actually a whole year old. Just yesterday she was a tiny baby, twirling my necklace while I rocked her to sleep. It seems like she's grown up overnight. Her sweet little baby face now looks like a big girl! Her hair is long in the back and she says things. Her walking has gotten so much better and she has these facial expressions that really showcase her sense of humor. Y'all, she is a spitfire. She packs more personality into her tiny little ...
Love Letters: Ten Months
Oh, Sophie. I know I've said this before, but ten months might be my favorite. We are teetering along the line between baby and big girl. It's like best of both worlds. You are still so snuggly but I can still keep up with you. You will eat whatever we're having without complaint and you love to try new foods. You are fiercely independent and can navigate the house all by yourself, but you're not quite ready to walk and run and hide. You are still pretty small at just over 17 pounds, but boy are you tall! We laughed because you wore a cute 3-6 month top yesterday, but you had on 12 months leggings. We talk about how envious we'll all be when you are a skinny teenager with long legs. Despite your length, you still have chubby little feet and your toes curl up when you aren't wearing shoes. ...
8 Minutes with Sophie
This video is boring. I probably shouldn't share it, but I was cracking up at how fast she moves from one room to another. This is generally how my time is spent with her. I am constantly following (chasing) her from room to room, saving her from precarious situations and removing unwanted objects from her mouth. She is a silly girl. Things you might have noticed in this video... She is beyond in love with those keys. I think they were in her stocking from Santa. She carries them around and presses that button too many times in one day. I hear Old McDonald and Hickory Dickory Dock in my dreams. The Sophie Squat. She sits like this often... one leg underneath her and the other propped up like she's ready to take off. I expect any minute for her just to stand up and walk ...
2010 in Pictures
I cannot believe how fast 2010 went by. Just twelve months ago, I was very pregnant and so excited about what all this year held for us. It has been everything I hoped for and more. Here are some of my favorite moments from the year. In January, there was a national championship win, our annual trip to the circus and thirty-one things we love about our sweet daddy. February brought our first snowfall of the year, a Valentine's date and a little work on our swing. In March, we took a trip to the zoo, visited the hospital for a sibling preparation class and had a very reassuring visit with our high-risk OB after a rather scary ultrasound. In April we had our LAST prenatal visit, celebrated a visit from the Easter Bunny and finally welcomed our sweet Sophie into the world. ...
Santa’s Reindeer
On Tuesday night we attempted making a little treat for our friends. Ella had a dance party on Thursday night and Friday was her last day at school. She loves giving gifts and we thought something sweet was in order. We got everything we needed... pretzels, nutter butters, peanut butter, candy melts, morsels, M&Ms, sprinkles, lollipop sticks and Scout. Elves make really good helpers! First we split the nutter butters, added a lollipop stick and some extra peanut butter. Then we put them back together again. I attempted dunking them in chocolate, but they kept falling apart. Making treats with four year olds is kind of stressful, don't you think? Instead, I began spooning the chocolate on and Ella made the reindeer faces. THIS is what they are supposed to look ...
Love Letters: Seven Months
How is it possible that you are already seven months old? Somebody asked me how old you were at church this morning and the question kind of caught me by surprise. You are over halfway to your birthday; you are more big girl than baby. Some days I love your new found independence and other days it makes me want to cry. You still only weigh 15 pounds {Ella was 17 lbs 2 oz} and are 26 inches long {Ella was 27}. You're still in the 20th % for weight and 95th % for height! Dr. Darby was impressed with your motor skills this month and gave us the go ahead for table food. You aren't sure what you think about all that texture just yet, but you're slowly getting the hang of it. You love to eat. You've tried apples, bananas, pears, peaches, blueberries, raspberries, plums, carrots, squash, sweet ...
Cupcakes and Costumes and Candy, Oh My!
As if dance isn't enough fun by itself, on Thursday there were cupcakes and costumes and candy. And this little pumpkin got a taste of a lollipop, thanks to Mrs. Angela! All of the little ballerinas were decked out in their finest... princesses, superheroes, indians and pirates! ...
