I decided that while we were gone, we would re-visit our last trip to NYC, especially for those of you who weren't hanging around in 2011. When we're back in town, there will be dance recital recaps, beach fun and new adventures in the Big Apple. You can find this original post here. December 19, 2011: On Sunday, we knew we were flying home, but we tried to squeeze as many things in our short day as we possibly could. That included packing our bags for the airport, checking out of our hotel, taking the train to the city, getting some Christmas shopping done and visiting the 9|11 Memorial in lower Manhattan. This was probably the coldest day we spent in NYC -- the high was 38 degrees. We bundled up as best we could, but it was windy and the city is still in the shadows at 9 o'clock, so ...
NYC Revisited | The Best Day
I decided that while we were gone, we would re-visit our last trip to NYC, especially for those of you who weren't hanging around in 2011. When we're back in town, there will be dance recital recaps, beach fun and new adventures in the Big Apple. You can find this original posts here and here. December 15, 2011: ...alternately titled, "the one with all the pictures"! We took so many pictures this day that I'm going to have to split it up into two posts! I knew that seeing the Statue of Liberty would be cool, but I had no idea that I would love it as much as I did. We took a ferry cruise from Battery Park at 9 o'clock on Saturday morning. After standing in line and clearing security, we were statue bound. It a gorgeous day, cold and crisp, not a cloud in the sky. The water was choppy and ...
NYC Revisited | Strawberry Fields
I decided that while we were gone, we would re-visit our last trip to NYC, especially for those of you who weren't hanging around in 2011. When we're back in town, there will be dance recital recaps, beach fun and new adventures in the Big Apple. You can find this original post here. December 13, 2011: For as long as I can remember, I've been a Beatles fan. More specifically, a Lennon fan. My dad and I used to listen to their music together when I was a girl. I have the albums on disk and on vinyl. For my sixteenth birthday, my mom won tickets to a Beatles tribute band concert and I could not have been happier. I visited London (would still like to visit Liverpool) when I was 14 and loved seeing the memorabilia everywhere and walking where they walked. And I've always wanted to visit the ...
Just the Two of Us
I sometimes wonder if we have a strange relationship. We've been together almost as long as we were apart and that means we know each other really well. I don't mean that our relationship is the greatest ever or that we love each more than you love your spouse, but in a world where divorce seems like no big deal, you kind of have to pat yourself on the back for really liking somebody after seventeen years, right? Josh drives me batty. Like crazy, kicking, screaming, batty. He knows exactly what buttons to push, how to make me smile and how to make me scream. He knows I hate repetitive noises like pen-clicking or toe-tapping. He knows not to hand me the remote control when he's done watching (I don't want much television), but he does it any way because this one makes him laugh. I'm laying ...
Dailies / Week 26
176/365: Monday made me a VERY happy girl. Not only did M&S announce that they were rescheduling the New Orleans show for a day we can be there, but they are playing in Birmingham the week before!! We probably won't be doing both shows, but this just means we will definitely get to see them this year. We're going to try and snag tickets to the local show next week and then sell our NOLA ones (anybody interested), but at least we have them in case we aren't so lucky. I finished out the day with hot yoga and macaroni & cheese from the box. Delish. 177/365: My happy box from Stitch Fix arrived on Tuesday and at first glance everything was a keeper. The girls had been in the pool all day when I stopped to get them and there were too many people there to say no. I ran home and ...
Dailies / Week 25
169/365: Monday I was THRILLED to be back at yoga and some sort of normal schedule after our disastrous Sunday. While I was gone, Josh and his best friend Chris, took the girls to Chuck E. Cheese for dinner. Can we talk about good daddies? They were in town for a few days and my girls were so excited to see them. I was just excited to avoid the death trap that is Chuck E. Cheese for a little longer. 170/365: I finally got back to work on Tuesday and it was weird to wear real clothes and fix my hair. Of course my morning was made better by a new dress from the LOFT outlet and a new song from my boyfriend. Thank you, JM. After work, we headed over to a local farm to pick up the newest member of our family. Meet Killer. She looks deadly, right? 171/365: On Wednesday nights this ...
Father’s Day: A Cautionary Tale
Don't get me wrong, there were a lot of really great days on our vacation last week. I do NOT regret going and the moments spent on the beach with my family were, as always, amazing. There is nothing like being in paradise with twenty of your favorite people. Amidst all of the good, however, were a few moments when I just wanted to bang my head against a wall. On Saturday night while traveling down, we blew a tire on our travel trailer. It was well after dark and we were precariously parked on the side of the interstate. After a failed attempt to call roadside service, my uncle caught up to us and helped Josh jack up the camper and change the tire. Sunday and Monday it rained. All day. The first day didn't bother me, because it's always nice to hang around camp and settle in. I read a ...
Insta Disney
To wrap things up I thought I'd share all of my Instagram images from our wonderful week in Disney. Yes, you may have seen most of these if you follow me on IG or on FB, but since it's been six whole months, I thought we could run through them again! This was honestly one of my FAVORITE trips of all time. The girls had a blast, Josh & I enjoyed every moment, the surprise factor was unmatched and nothing beats being in Disney World during the holiday season. Mark your calendars, friends, because we will be doing this again in the near future! ...
