THIS Friday I'm sleeping in. And eating breakfast at IHOP with the kiddos. And picking out our Christmas tree under the big striped tent. And hopefully getting started on our holiday decorations, wrapping some gifts, listening to some Christmas tunes and drinking an excessive amount of hot chocolate. You? ONE: Well, we managed to take our family photos last Saturday with only a little drama. You know, as little as can be expected when posing in the middle of the street with two uncooperative children, a bored daddy and one elderly dog. Did I mention that a local police officer stopped by? I realized after I got dressed that I completely hated the outfit I posted here last week. It didn't translate well in real life, despite the fact that it looked glorious in my head. Thankfully, I had a ...
It’s Almost Thanksgiving
I am so ready for some holiday cheer around here. I know I'm beginning to sound like a record skipping, but the last few months for us have been full. And not full of things we love, but full of work and travel and stress. I'm wishing I wasn't working on this Wednesday, while I know my littles and my husband are snuggled up together at home. After taking a half day on Monday AND Tuesday for nasty dental work, I pretty much had to be strapped to my desk today. But tomorrow. Tomorrow I get to wake up slow and eat pigs in a blanket and drink a strong cup of coffee. I get to be greeted by a Tasmanian devil with bed head and a too-big grin. I get to watch the Thanksgiving Day parade with Ella while our sweet daddy scoffs (why don't men other than my daddy enjoy the parade?!). I get to make ...
5 on Friday | Week 46
I am so thrilled that it's Friday! This week seems to have taken forever and I cannot wait to spend a few lazy days at home with my family. We've got plans to eat dinner {to celebrate my 34th birthday} with my parents and sister tonight, tomorrow is football and a date night {may the odds be ever in your favor!} with the hubby and maybe even a little Christmas shopping. Let's talk 5 on Friday. ONE: Have you heard of fab|kids? It's kind of like Stitch Fix for kids! You can sign up to be a VIP and they will schedule you to receive one outfit per month for your little one. You fill out a style profile for them {it's pretty abbreviated} and they suggest 3 piece outfits based on that. You have until the 10th of the month to decline the box or they'll charge you $39.95 and ship your selection. ...
5 on Friday | Week 45
It's been far too long since I joined in on 5 on Friday. I like using these posts as a mini recap, but things have been so crazy that there isn't much to recap outside my regular posts! Josh & I have both been traveling a lot for work and scheduling the littles to be passed around while we're gone is HARD work. I think things have settled down a bit this week and I'm hoping we'll get to enjoy a peaceful holiday season with a lot less stress.Speaking of the holiday season... I thought I'd share some card designs as I gear up to work on holiday cards over the next few weeks. I've been a busy little bee and the Christmas card orders are rolling in. Since I can't spoil this years' cards, I thought I'd share five of my favorite designs from last year. ONE: I have to start with our card ...
pumpkin picking party
On Sunday afternoon, we went to a perfect birthday party. Our friends have two kiddos with fall birthdays and they had a joint celebration this weekend packed with pumpkins, tractor rides and plenty of fall fun. Hayrides are always a big hit and this one was no exception. It was packed full of littles ready to ride. They had no idea what was waiting at the other end for them. Since I can't EVER manage to capture a photo of the birthday kid, I thought I'd at least point them out! After a twisty, turny tractor ride, we stumbled upon a pumpkin patch full of just-the-right-size pumpkins for the preschool set. And since I can't seem to get a good look from both girls at the same time, I'm forced to share two! Some sweet angel (or Tasmanian devil, as the case may be) picked me these ...
Hey, Tigers!
Words aren't so much necessary for this post, you can see just how giddy we were in the pictures. We had the best day tailgating in Tuscaloosa with our friends and family. We were all a little stressed out during the first half of the game, but we recovered well after the half. There were shakers left in every seat in the stadium and watching the crowd shake them together is pretty special to watch. I'm sure there have been louder games, but with every seat in the house filled, it got pretty loud - especially any time they played a song the crowd likes to sing along with (see here). Just ask Josh, since he had a splitting headache from the noise the entire night! We finished the game with a very loud, very excited, four-times repeated rendition of Rammer Jammer and even hung around to ...
A Halloween Recap
Am I the only one who thinks having Halloween on a weeknight is an AWFUL idea?! And while we're talking about inconveniences, who said it could rain on an outdoor holiday? It would happen that I had a horrible day at work and nothing would cooperate - people, computers - you name it and it malfunctioned. We were planning to go to a local Trunk or Treat at 4:30 in the afternoon and it takes me an hour to commute. I sped out the door at 2:30 and managed to get my girlies all suited up in time to take a few photos before the rain came through. This girl. I swear that no pictures exist where she is just casually smiling at the camera. It is either a pout or a full-on, squinty, cheesy face. And this is one of the many reasons I love her to bits. She is so feisty and was in LOVE with her Izzy ...
Throwback Thursday | Halloween Edition
I was flipping back through some old Halloween photos and couldn't resist sharing our costumes from years past. I wish I had some pictures pre-blog, but those are probably on film (gasp!) and buried deep in a box somewhere. Instead, here are my favorite photos from the past five years. In 2008, Ella had just turned two and was Minnie Mouse! My mom made her costume and my sister bought her ears as a souvenir from Disney World over the summer. In 2009, she was three years old and was Fancy Nancy obsessed! We wore butterfly wings for a while, but mostly we were just fancy. I ordered her costume from etsy and the "accessories" we found around the house. 2010 was Sophie's first Halloween and Ella was four. We were a chicken and Olivia the Pig, respectively. The chicken costume was 97 ...
