We're only a little over a month away from Sophie's birthday and it's time to start thinking about party planning! Last year, her party was pretty involved. And as fun as it was, I'm looking forward to something a little simpler this year. She started taking tap and ballet at Ella's studio in August and it is her new favorite thing. Since she is so into dance this year, it just seemed natural to throw her a ballet inspired fete. This will be our first official "friends only" party, so we'll be having our family over for cupcakes on her actual birthday. This party will be for a few of her best girl friends and on a much smaller scale than in previous years. Let's start with inspiration... I bought these cupcake liners on a whim. OVER A YEAR AGO. I had seen these exact kits at a local ...
Follow Me
There was a period in my life where I thought a lot about my salvation. I remember the racing of my heart when I realized that I wanted to know Him. I remember asking my parents countless questions and I remember meeting with my pastor in his office. I remember walking down the aisle on Easter Sunday morning and the exact dress I was wearing. I even remember that beneath my baptismal robe, a few weeks later, was a PeeWee Herman t-shirt and denim shorts. It's not that I ever had any doubt in my belief or the transformative power of Christ to save, but I worried a lot about the moment of my salvation -- the physical moment when I prayed to receive Christ as my savior. I never doubted that Christ would do what He said he would do. What I doubted was that I had done what I was supposed to do. ...
5 on Friday
This has been one busy week. Between work and church and home and just life, I am exhausted. My to do list is longer than the hours in the day and I'm feeling a little overwhelmed. ONE I hate to start off with the same topic as last week's post, but it's relevant. My morning routine is going really well. I've managed to get up *almost* on time every day this week and it is certainly helping me in the organizational realm. My alarm has been going off at 4:30 and I've been rolling out of bed after reading Jesus Calling at around 5 o'clock. My goal for next week is to be out of bed by 4:45. I sort of flip flopped my schedule this week and I've been starting the coffee and then getting ready first and reading my Bible and doing chores after I'm ready to walk out the door. It seems to me that ...
the cold never bothered me anyway.
I love summer as much as the next girl. I love sandals and sunshine and floppy hats. But if it's going to be 30* and beautiful outside every day this week, I'd just assume it look like this: These photographs were all taken on January 30th, while Josh was in Denver and we were camping out at Gran & Poppy's. You can see the recap of our first snow day here. ...
Mercedes 1/2 Marathon Recap // Take Two
This was my second year to run the Mercedes Half-Marathon and I really expected to do so much better than I did last year. My training started off really well, but was quickly derailed in December. I had been running a much better pace than in months before, but I got the flu and was pretty much in bed for two straight weeks. Even after I was back at work and moving around, it was another full week before I felt up to exercising. Fast forward a few weeks and we were battling snow and ice and with Josh traveling during those days off with the girls, it was near impossible to run, not to mention dangerous. My longest run before the race was terrible. It was the worst run I've ever had to date and I was very discouraged. The following week, I ran 8 miles and had very few problems. It is so ...
Monday’s Meals | Week Six
I'm sorry for the delay in today's post and my general absence for the last week. I've been dealing with some blog related drama and I'm trying to iron out some kinks before I share it with you! Let me just admit that we were pretty terrible eaters last week. I generally take a week off after racing, so there was no exercise on my agenda and nothing even remotely clean on my plate. Today is like a giant reset. I'm heading back to hot yoga for the first time in weeks and I had watermelon for breakfast instead of Chick-fil-A. Talk about dramatic turnarounds?!We have managed to try a few recipes that I wanted to share with you. Two were spot on and we will definitely be revisiting them. The other was meh and I think I need a little help to figure out what went wrong! On Valentine's Day, I ...
5 on Friday
I clearly win the award for best blogger of the week, right? I was late getting Monday's meal post up and then I pretty much vanished off the face of the planet after that. You would think with a stack of weather days spent at home with my family, I could manage to spend a few hours at the computer. I'm linking up with Darcy & friends to share a few things with you today and I'll be back next week with more food, another chapter of our love story and lots of things to say about Ella's baptism. ONE I've never been a morning person and despite my desire to spend time in the Bible and in prayer every day, I am not nearly as diligent about this as I want to be. We've been talking in our small group about changes we want to make in our lives this year and one of those things is giving God ...
Monday’s Meals | Week 4
I was given a free subscription to eMeals in exchange for this review, but all opinions are my own. Affiliate links are embedded in this post. It's been several weeks since I told you we were working to clean up our diet and I subsequently mentioned we were thinking about giving eMeals a try. I'm so proud of the changes we've been making in our diet so far {especially Josh!!} and the clean eating plan from eMeals is just the thing to keep us on track. Today's meal post is a little different than the last few weeks, but I hope you find this information some of the most beneficial I've shared to date. I'm not the most organized person in the world, thanks to two crazy children, a stressful job and a two-hour daily commute. I'm doing the best I can to meal plan and get all of our grocery ...
