I've done so well with taking first day of the month (sometimes second) this year, but here we are -- with two months to spare -- and I completely obscured our normal view with a pair of wing back chairs in my living room. I can't say that I'm sorry, though, since the chairs make our living room so much more livable. Maybe for next year I'll continue taking first day photos in the heart of our home, but vary the perspective a bit. picking | Did I mention that we picked out carpet last week? It's a beautiful, dark grey with a diamond pattern and everyone in our house actually agreed on what to get (although the girls favored a slightly lighter color.). We've spent the last week cleaning and organizing and packing boxes, so that we can empty the upstairs for carpet installation, ...
September Little Things
Holy Moses, I'm not sure how I got so far behind -- I dumped the video clips for my October recap and realized that I never edited anything for September! It might be five weeks late, but it was so much fun to look back on. We're all still laughing about the car that drove through our cotton field and it's crazy to see how much Polly has already grown this month. This past weekend was so full of house projects and organizational things, but it was still one of my favorites in recent memory. We were all five at home together and the girls were all in fantastic moods (despite Daylight Savings Time!). We are headed out of town in ten days, so the to do list is looooong, but I've got two other blog posts scheduled for this week and I still need to share some of our Halloween photos. Dare I ...
Trunk or Treat | 2019
It looks like we have rain in the forecast for tomorrow, so our candy dreams may or may not happen. I'm thankful we went to our favorite local trunk-or-treat on Sunday and already have plenty of Halloween pictures to share! Ella only dresses up for her friends these days, but she did join us for the evening (with a little coercing from her mom) and even volunteered to help with Sophie's Maleficent makeup. They were so funny to watch and I got a few extra minutes of rest, thanks to this set up. It's pretty much impossible to expect four kids to look in the same direction, so this is the best group shot we got! Hudson was Ferdinand the Bull (maybe my favorite thing ever) and Vera was the cutest Minnie Mouse! I put these two up on a rock wall for a few more photos -- ...
What’s Up Wednesday | October 2019
What We’re Eating This Week | The answer to this prompt is pretty funny, considering how I answered it last month. It's been four weeks since we had a Hello Fresh delivery and I miss it (Save $40 off your first box!). I was standing in the kitchen complaining about what to eat a few days ago, when Josh said: Do you realize that you literally never complained once about dinner while we were getting that meal delivery service?! Ugh. I did sign up for emeals and I haven't liked the way any of the meals sounded. I think we've decided to get a Hello Fresh box once a month and then use their recipes to create our own meals the rest of the time. Best of both worlds, right? What I’m Reminiscing About | I shared a photo of Sophie's Halloween costume on Instagram yesterday and it got me thinking ...
A Halloweekend Update
This was one of those perfect weekends, where our kids were angels and I checked almost everything off of my list. It's been a long time since I felt this accomplished and self-satisfied, so I had to tell you about it, right? FRIDAY | I didn't feel great on Friday morning, but I went on to work and got as much done as I could in the early morning hours. It turns out I had a 24 hour bug and was back in bed by lunch. Polly took a long nap and gave her mama plenty of time to rest, but I didn't really feel great until the next morning. SATURDAY | Josh and the girls had planned to spend the day at his mom's watching football, so I tried to think about all of the little, annoying things I never have time to finish. I made a mental list and as soon as I put Polly down for her morning ...
Listen, Read, Review | Summer + Fall 2019
Affiliate links appear in this post. Any purchases made using these links will earn Taz + Belly a small commission. You can read more about our affiliate relationships here. I decided back in June, that it was much easier for me to share a quarterly (ish) book review post, than trying to keep up with what I'm reading monthly. It's as much about letting books accumulate as it is about having the time to read and then actually write something about the books I'm reading. My to be read pile is growing infinitely larger, so I'm trying hard not to purchase any reading material these days. I have picked up a few things from the library, I have several things in my audible queue already, and I have a fairly large stack of previous BOTM selections that have been ignored for too long. The good ...
Weekend Update | My First Night Away From Polly
It's been a long time since I recapped a weekend, but this was a good one. I didn't take many photos, but the ones I did take were good. My small group has been planning a lake weekend for the last few months, but I wasn't sure I could pull it off. I haven't left Polly overnight before now and the next few weeks at home are so busy. Josh was so encouraging, so I left work a little early on Friday and met seven other girls at the most beautiful home on Lake Mitchell. Our dear friend, Martha, was in charge of the food and it was all amazing! She made an insane charcuterie spread, chicken salad croissants, and two kinds of soup for dinner. Then for breakfast, we had breakfast sliders on hawaiian rolls (OMG) and for lunch, we ate all the leftovers from the previous two meals. We covered ...
August Little Things
I somehow managed to skip our August video, and when I sat down to edit our clips for September, I realized it had never been posted. There is a little bit of magic in forgetting, because it was so much fun to go back and watch this after some time had passed. Polly took her first steps in August and Ella had her first football game as a JV Cheerleader. I'm a little embarrassed that Sophie doesn't make an appearance this entire month (Wait, she is in the video for just a minute!), but she has a tendency to hibernate once school starts! I'll save September's Little Things for a bit, but I'm hoping to share some photos from our weekend and maybe a Day in the Life post later this week! ...
