It's time, it's time!! It's the last Monday of the month and that means I link up with Rachel and Amber for Collaboreads. I struggled with what book to read all month long and only after seeing that Amber picked this one up (and seeing that it was quite popular and talked about) did I decided to read it. via From Amazon: A beautiful and distinguished family. A private island. A brilliant, damaged girl; a passionate, political boy. A group of four friends—the Liars—whose friendship turns destructive. A revolution. An accident. A secret. Lies upon lies. True love. The truth. We Were Liars is a modern, sophisticated suspense novel from E. Lockhart. Read it. And if anyone asks you how it ends, just LIE. RIVETING. I must confess, but it seems like I might be the ONLY ...
2015 Back-to-School Interviews
I can't believe we're already two weeks into the new school year! Summer always goes by fast, but I'm surprised at how fast the school year is already moving. The girls have settled into their new classes, I've gotten to visit them at their school and we've enjoyed a parent night to learn all about what to expect this year. We are all exhausted {Sophie can barely make it through dinner}, but they are both really enjoying their teachers and new friends. When Ella began kindergarten, I started interviewing them sometime during the first few days of the new school year. I love going back and comparing their answers to the years before. Since we've become big fans of video this summer, they decided they wanted to answer their questions on film and that's just what we did before bed on ...
What’s Up Wednesday?!
Who wants to discuss the current state of life today? EATING You might recall (since it's the last thing I posted about) that I finished up Whole30 last month. I had grand plans for a second round starting last week, but I didn't manage to pull myself together. I'm sipping a sweet tea in favor of my water bottle as we speak. Thankfully, I have every intention of starting again on Monday for anybody who is interested in joining in. I've been pinning a few new recipes this week {some W30 approved and some not} and cannot wait for colder weather when soup and grilled cheese sandwiches are the norm. Who's with me? REMINISCING I'm working on some posts for next month and one of them is a letter to my sixteen year old self. I've seen that done in the blogosphere before, but never ...
Farewell to Summer
Since we've already recapped one summer beach trip for you (here, here, here, here and here), I thought you probably weren't interested in seeing another group of photos showing us on the sand, eating ice cream at Scoops or riding bikes around camp. Instead, we shot video clips throughout the weekend and put them all together for your viewing pleasure. I need you to know in advance that (a) we relied heavily on 90's playlists to pass the time in the car, (b) Josh was a super good sport about the camera in his face but didn't want to do an on-camera interview, (c) Sophie is FASCINATED with bathroom humor and no matter how often we discourage it she regularly works it into the conversation and (d) my children rarely get into any sort of physical altercation so the catfight we caught on film ...
Lucky Number Thirteen
Dearest Husband, I am the luckiest of the lucky. I might not have given you a second glance eighteen years ago when you first said my name, but it didn't take me long to figure out that you're pretty much perfect. Sometimes I can't even begin to wrap my head around the fact that we've been together for more than half my life. Thank you for sticking with me every single day, no matter how many times I talk too loud or forget to give the dog her medicine or leave the watermelon in front of the water pitcher in the fridge. Thank you for tolerating me, even when I watch terrible television (ahem, The Bachelorette) and insist that you stay in the room. Thank you for being patient when I don't want to listen or when I need you to proofread text messages and blog posts so I don't offend all the ...
Illustrated August
If you're following me on social media, you may have seen my August journaling challenge. I love to spend time in the word, especially when it involves art supplies, but summer has really hijacked my schedule and I found myself spending less and less time in Bible study and prayer. I had already decided to challenge myself to a more regular devotion time, but it was so fitting that at our church this month we are engaging in 21 Days of Prayer. Every morning from 6 to 7 o'clock, thousands of people are meeting in campuses across the state for an hour of both personal and corporate prayer. It would have been very hard for me to get to our campus, so I've been streaming the messages either at home before I leave for work or in the car during my commute. Some mornings I spend the entire time ...

July by the Numbers
It's my favorite day of the month -- the day when we recap ALLTHETHINGS in a fun infographic here on the blog! July was a slow and easy month, full of summer camps, swim days, grilled food and our favorite television shows. I didn't read nearly as many books as in previous months, but it's because we were being lazy <insert wide-eyed emoji here>. This next month is filled with school starting and dance classes and organization, so I'm guessing next month's recap will be decidedly different! Tune in the first Monday Tuesday of every month for our family infographic. ...
