I am so excited to be linking up with these lovely ladies today to bring you all sorts of Thanksgiving goodness. If you're looking for menu ideas, tablescapes or just a simple activity to keep your little ones entertained, then you've come to the right place! My parents are hosting Thanksgiving in the barn this year and I can't wait to see the beautiful tables my mom manages to pull together. She is the quintessential hostess and the barn is always the perfect place for a fun family get together (try saying that three times fast!). Since we're leaning towards a more rustic, buffet style meal this year, I wanted to come up with something beautiful for the table that would also be fun for the little ones joining the meal. My girls love nothing more than a good coloring session and ...
The Rockin’ House
Now that our little house is finally on the market, I thought I'd share the photos from our listing. I've shared so many bits and pieces of our home over the last 8 years, but I'm not sure I've ever done a full house tour. We're getting ready to decorate for the holidays and I'll be sharing more photos in a few weeks, but here is what she looks like today. We are lucky to have deep porches on the front and back. While the front porch faces the street, it is still very private and we get lots of shade. We contemplated adding blinds several times since we bought the house, but never got around to having them installed. Our back porch was screened in when we bought the house, but it was also completely rotten. When we replaced the roof several years ago, we rebuilt it and added a pea ...
October Recap
October may have started out rough, but we packed lots of fun things in there, too. It is hard to believe how fast it all went by, so bear with me as we rewind a few weeks and share what we were up to while I was blogging non-stop about my Bible! Kamin & I decided to take the kids to Baker's Farm -- a local pumpkin patch -- on a morning when the guys were otherwise engaged. We figured we could let them run around for a few hours and burn off some energy, while we managed a few cute photos for my mom's Christmas card and then everyone would take a nice long nap. Wrong. Despite these adorable photos (most of which I stole from her), all three kids were terrible and I was pretty close to tears at one point. While searching for the perfect pumpkin (and carrying about 75 pounds of them out ...
Hold the Phone
It's been awhile since I did a post full of random phone snaps and updates, but I figured this dreary morning was as good as any! I'm currently wrapped up in a vintage quilt, sipping coffee, listening to a combination of Christmas music and rain dripping. How unbelievable does that sound?! I have been in desperate need of some fall shoes and I'm finally rounding out a decent selection. We have a wedding later this month and I already had a dress (with tags still on it) that I bought over Thanksgiving last year and haven't worn yet, but I needed a fun shoe. I found these leopard print heels at Nordstrom Rack a few weeks ago and they are perfection. I wore them to a meeting earlier in the month to make sure they are comfortable enough for chasing the flower girl and so far, so good. I ...
Crockpot Chicken Enchiladas
I cannot be the only one looking for easy, yummy weeknight meals, right? If it involves chicken, cumin and the slow cooker, I am almost always willing to give it a try! We have a delicious enchilada recipe that we've been cooking since early in our marriage, but it's time consuming and it smells too good to wait the hour that it takes to pop it in the oven -- especially when the kids are involved. I had seen a few similar slow cooker versions over the summer, but none of them quite lived up to our favorite recipe. I decided to try my hand at modifying it myself and all I can say is, you're welcome! Print Slow Cooker Chicken Enchiladas Prep time: 25 mins Cook time: 4 hours Total time: 4 hours 25 mins Serves: 6-8 enchiladas Ingredients 2-3 ...
Thankful Jar DIY
As much fun as September and October were, I'm excited about getting back to our normal posts and projects around here. In case you missed it, I'll be writing over at Oh My! Creative a few times a month and sharing some simple seasonal printables and fun kid crafts for your family. The girls and I were brainstorming a few ways to share what we are thankful for this season and this jar was one of our favorite ideas! I don't know about you, but in our home we are constantly talking about gratitude and how much we have to be thankful for. I know we are just wrapping up Halloween, but I wanted to get a head start on helping my girls recognize these things during the upcoming holiday season. Enter our Thankful Jar. Instead of having blank cards or strips of paper to write on like we have ...
Things I Learned in October
I know I haven't shared nearly as many of these monthly infographics this year as I had hoped to, but it is one of my favorite posts of the month when I can remember to squeeze it in. Now that Blogtember and Write 31 Days are over, I'm trying to get myself back in a regular routine and a monthly recap post filled with fun stats is certainly going to be a regular affair. Things I've learned this month: Loss is hard, even when it's "just" the family pet. I know I wrote a little bit about this earlier in the month, but we are still very much in the grieving process. There are days when I forget about her altogether and that just makes me feel guilty. There are other days when she's heavy on mind all day long and I just want to pull the covers over my head and pretend October didn't ...
Flip Through My Bible
I have really loved sharing the pages of my Bible this month. There was something so scary about opening up the pages for you in this way. I was completely vulnerable and given the diverse audience I have here, that is always something that makes my heart race just a little bit. For those of you who found your way here for the first time this month, thank you so much for joining me on this journey. I hope you'll stick around and get to know us outside of these pages just a little bit. For those of you who toughed it out and are ready to see real life return, thank you for your patience and indulgence. I know it wasn't everyone's cup of tea and I'm thrilled to know you're here for the long haul. There were many things I wanted to share with you this month that I just didn't get around ...
