If we were on a coffee date, I would tell you that... 001 | I'm new to coffee dates. Not the real and in person with friends you know kind of coffee dates, but the virtual ones where you share tiny tidbits of your life. So many blogging friends join up to share these posts at the beginning of the month and as much as I adore reading them, I rarely ever jump in. Since I am a huge fan of link parties and had exactly zero things on my blogging calendar for today, I decided to join. I don't have anything revolutionary to share, so it would be easy to let it pass by, but sharing where we are is kind of the point. Right? 002 | I'm drinking boring coffee these days. For the near future, my coffee is boring and black (and not so delicious). We started a second round of Whole30 for the year and ...
Five on Friday 005
How about a Five on Friday, Independence Day edition? Sounds incredibly fun, right? Well I hope so, because our weekend was so good that it can't go undocumented and I ended up with way too many photos on my camera come Tuesday morning. 001 | THE PLACE Somebody stop me, because I can't quit gushing about my parents' house. I've told you many times that our ultimate goal is to live there, but our current house is being cranky and holding on to us way too tight. In the meantime, we spend as much time as we possibly can hanging out there on the weekends. The kids go from pool, to barn, to blanket fort to bicycle while the grown ups just enjoy each other's company. Last Saturday afternoon, the kids got a little afternoon shower surprise and were thrilled to swim in the rain while we huddled ...
What I Read in June
Warning: Affiliate links appear in the following post. Although shopping the embedded links won’t cost you any additional dollars, it might mean that I download a few extra audio books this month. Your support of my reading habit is always appreciated! I was hoping to be able to tell you I conquered double-digits this month, but it just wasn't in the cards. I'm going to publicly acknowledge the fact that I have two (demanding) children, a blog and a full time job, so endless hours of reading every day isn't something I can commit to. Some of my favorite book-reviewing bloggers knock it out of the park every month and I'm always so jealous! I keep reminding myself that I'm not in that season of life right now. Four to six books a month is super reasonable for me, especially when two of ...
Five on Friday 004
Remember that one time I said I was going to post a Five on Friday post every single week this summer? Well, vacation does not lend itself to blogging, so I took a little hiatus. I will tell you that I spent several hours last night working on my editorial calendar and organizing photos and I have the rest of this month and next month all planned out. Here's to hoping I can stay on track! 001 | THE BEACH Our beach trip was kind of amazing. It was so unscheduled and we worked hard to just be present with the kids and say "no" as little as possible and it really paid off. We missed a few things that we normally squeeze in somewhere, but in their place were new restaurants and new adventures and lots of wonderful moments with our girls. It might take another week to edit all of the photos ...
Bible Journaling: One Year Later
It's been quite awhile since I shared anything related to Bible Journaling in awhile, so I thought you might like an update. I purchased a second Bible some time last year, but it only had a few entries until recently. I found it on sale and snatched it up, but only used it when a page I wanted to journal had already been filled in the Bible I was already using. I called it my backup Bible and aside from an occasional glance, it sat mostly unused on the bookshelf near my desk. I had planned all along to be working in two Bibles (these will be gifts for my daughters one day), but I wasn't sure how to decide when to abandon the "original" in favor of the "new." Lucky for me, God made it pretty clear. I started journaling in my Bible in February of last year and I honestly had no idea ...
Recital Recap | Seven Years
Sometimes it's hard to believe she's been dancing for seven years and other days it feels like we've been doing this forever. I feel like every year, we learn a host of new things. We get better organized, more efficient and more confident with every day of the season we conquer. If there was anything new we learned this year, it was that these girls are our family. Dance moms and daughters alike. I never expected for Ella to fall in love with dance or for it to monopolize a significant amount of our time and budget. I certainly never expected to fall so seamlessly into a group of women who love my girl like their own and who step in at a moment's notice to pick up my slack. Recital day started like any other. I got up hours early and downed a pot of coffee while mentally cataloguing ...
Five on Friday 003
So I'm drafting this on Thursday afternoon and I have exactly zero plans for this post. BUT, I said I was going to do a weekly digest on Fridays this summer, so just think of this as a little free form blogging. Like, I'm going to have to stop mid-stream to hunt for (and edit) an appropriate photograph. This is what you call blogging on the fly. 001 | ILLUSTRATED ACTS I've been in a Bible study slump for last few months, so I was thrilled to jump in on the SheReadsTruth Acts Study that started earlier this week. It's slated to run for 6 weeks and I'm hoping I can keep from falling behind while we travel. When I opened up my Bible on that first morning, I realized that not a single page in Acts had been illustrated! My goal is to fill Acts up with some beautiful color over the next 42 ...
What I Read in May
Affiliate links appear in the following post. Although shopping the embedded links won’t cost you any additional dollars, it might mean that I download a few extra audio books this month. Your support of my reading habit is always appreciated! After a few slow months, it was so nice to finish up six books last month. This is probably more in line with my previous reading habits -- we've had so much going on this year that my monthly page count has been significantly lower than what I'm used to! Josh traveled a good bit at the beginning of the month and since most of our television watching is done together, I avoided Netflix and the DVR in favor of turning pages. Add in several weekends devoted to poolside lounging and I managed to just sneak ahead of my yearly goal! Now who wants to ...
