With Josh traveling most of this month, I've been working on a few projects around the house. Our only bathroom has been bothering me for awhile, so I decided to take everything out in an attempt to create a Budget Boho Bathroom. See how below! Our house has been on the market for a year with very little luck. We know we're priced right, but it's a buyer's market and we live in a hundred year old home. It's going to take the perfect buyer to sell this cutie, so we're being patient and trying not to be discouraged. Since we knew we were going to sell, we've been hesitant to put any money into it over the last year. Once we came to the realization that we're going to be here for an undetermined number of days, it seemed silly not to really love my house while I live in. I don't say that ...
What I Read in July
Warning: Affiliate links appear in the following post. Although shopping the embedded links won’t cost you any additional dollars, it might mean that I download a few extra audio books this month. Your support of my reading habit is always appreciated! I'm not sure why I couldn't read in July, but I had no desire to turn a single page. Josh has been working sixteen hours a day/seven days a week. I haven't cooked a single time this month (meaning I completely failed at my Whole30). We pulled the plug on our cable, so I've been catching up on the DVR before it vanishes into nothing in a few days. I had so many hours of podcasts to catch up on after being at the beach for two weeks last month. I just didn't have the time to fit reading in and if I'm being honest, I wasn't interested in ...
Beach Vlog | Volume 4
While we took a ton of video during our trip, that doesn't mean I didn't capture plenty of photographs, too. Since you've already seen most of the important parts, I thought I would share a few (ahem, thirty seven) of my favorites from throughout our stay. This trip was a little different than previous years -- we worked hard to say YES to all requests from tiny humans (when safe and feasible, obvs) and to be more relaxed about what we tried to fit in. We went to less "fancy" restaurants and got takeout a ton. We avoided the outlet mall altogether, but we did spent a significant amount of time in the souvenir shops. We rode our bikes and climbed trees and played mini golf more than all previous trips combined and did our best to sooth a mopey Sophie, who suffered from a migraine for the ...
Beach Vlog | Volume 3
I'm back with volume three and it's kind of my favorite thing ever. We welcomed our cousin Kalli back to the mainland, so there was a lot of on-camera anticipation for that. She moved to Hawaii last October and we've been missing her like crazy. In case you haven't figured it out yet, my entire extended family is super duper close and we always vacation together in the summer. We were lucky enough that she was in a wedding an hour away, so we got to love on her for exactly 48 hours. I wish you could see how excited the girls were in the moments before she appeared -- that is all they talked about for hours and they couldn't stop staring at the door of the restaurant! Also, in this episode, Sophie breaks down how to use her made up word in a sentence and apparently I've been doing it all ...
Beach Vlog | Volume 2
These have been so much fun to put together. I had forgotten so many little moments and funny things the kids said, which make me so happy that I decided to capture these moments in this way. My technique might need a little improvement, but I think I've gotten most of the logistics figured out at this point! Today's installment is remarkably less exciting than yesterday, but I wanted to include a few moments of tape from each day and we spent most of these days in the pool or lounging at the beach. What is more exciting than that?! I'll be sneaking in tomorrow with a Wardrobe Wednesday post dedicated to our back-to-school shopping, but two more rounds of vacation video (and a million and a half photos) will be up on the blog Thursday and Friday. See you there! ...
Beach Vlog | Volume 1
Sure, it's been a month since we got back from our family vacation, but I still like to pretend it isn't over yet. Those two weeks in June are some of my favorites of the entire year and after looking forward to them for months, it's really hard to let go. In fact, I've already made my reservations for next year and have a running list of things I want to update in the trailer before then. Does that make me crazy? Every summer, Josh makes fun of me for the endless photographs I take and reminds me that ya'll don't want to see us posing in front of those same favorite places every summer. As a mom (and keeper of the memories), I can't resist capturing all of those moments, but I do understand where he's coming from. Since we vlogged our mini vacation last summer, I've been dreaming of ...
Five on Friday 006
Am I the only one who is drowning in July? I remember thinking that June was so busy and that I was going to get to enjoy July and relax and read and now here we are on the eve of August and I have accomplished very little. I haven't read a single page this month, my house is a wreck and we're barrelling towards a new school year with no signs of stopping. I don't want to say it out loud, but I'm starting to think that once the girls get back in school and our schedule returns to normal that maybe things will calm down a little. This whole "fly by the seat of your pants" summer thing we have going on isn't working for us. And let's be honest... now that our family vacation is a thing of the past, I'm kind of ready for football and cozy sweaters and cooler temperatures. Who's with ...
My Tattoo Story
For most of my adult life, I've wanted a tattoo and no one in the world knew except for Josh. We've had casual conversations about it before, but given my propensity for tears, it isn't something I ever thought I would follow through with. At some point last year, I told him that I wanted to do it. Not kind of or one day or maybe, but really-really-in-real-life-actually get a tattoo. He joked that the only way I would ever get one is if he kidnapped me and drove me to the tattoo shop. I had no intentions of getting inked while on our family vacation. I always assumed I would do it on a trip with Josh and that it would be highly researched and heavily planned. Instead, we took a spontaneous trip to random shop and my sister just happened to have her camera in my car. I say first tattoo ...
