Dear August Stack of Books, Stop staring at me from the bedside table. I'm almost positive I'll read some one of you. Dear Bookish Friends, I'm thinking about changing how I review books around here. Well, not around here, exactly. I'm thinking about sharing Instagram book reviews, as I finish them, and then doing the same roundup at the end of the month here. How does that sound? Dear Big Little Lies, I've avoided you forever because I seem to have bad luck with your author. I watched the HBO series and loved it, so I've decided to give you a try. Please don't disappoint. Dear BOTM ...
Rivers + Roads | Part One
Today is our fifteenth wedding anniversary, so it seems fitting that I dive right into the mini-vacay we took last week to celebrate! There are way too many photos to share, so I'm planning to break our adventure into several posts. Have you ever had a song that you loved, that once played on a trip or at a defining moment, became your unofficial anthem? Josh and I joked that although we've listened to the three albums by The Head and the Heart for years and years, those songs will forever remind us of this trip. We were so excited to get to the show on Wednesday, that we listened to them in the car that entire day. Then after the show, we were so giddy that we continued playing them on repeat all week. On Monday afternoon, when I got home from work, Josh had that same Spotify ...
Live Your Best Life (and Build Your Best Burger) with Shipt Grocery Delivery!
Thank you to shipt.com for kindly sponsoring this post. All opinions are 100% honest & completely my own. There was a time in my life when grocery shopping was one of my favorite mama duties to tackle. Maybe it was because I was eating all the foods or maybe it was because it was the only hour a week when my life was completely quiet. Either way, I've grown out of that fascination and now just want my groceries to magically appear in the pantry. I can't be the only one. The very last thing I want to think about after eight hours in the office, is an hour long commute littered with errands and text messages reading "what's for dinner?" Especially when that eight hour day comes on the heels of a vacation where I didn't have to plan a single meal for five whole days. You want to ...
Coffee Talk 013
I know today isn't the *actual* coffee date link up day, but I did not have the brain power for anything more than a few paragraphs, so a mini life-update it is. If we were on a coffee date, I’d tell you that time away with your person is the best. I laughed more, slept harder, and had more fun in the last five days that I can remember in a really long time. I can't wait to show you all of the photos and recount a few funny stories, but the short version is: time away from real life is vital. If we were on a coffee date, I’d tell you that I really hate flying. I used to tell people that I didn't mind flying, but the real truth is -- I could totally do without it. I have a hard time sitting in one position for very long, so not being able to stretch out or "switch sides" is ...
What I Read in July

July was crazy busy -- I'm honestly not sure how I managed to squeeze in six books before it ended. Add to those a more than half finished epic novel and a good start on my next audiobook? I'm on quite a roll this summer! 34. THE HATE U GIVE BY ANGIE THOMAS ★★★★☆ | Contemporary Fiction (audiobook) From Amazon: Sixteen-year-old Starr Carter moves between two worlds: the poor neighborhood where she lives and the fancy suburban prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the ...
The Monthly Report | August
snacking (on) | Barkthins are my new favorite snack and we can be found in bed with dueling flavors on any given night. Josh prefers almonds and sea salt, but I love the pretzel version the very best! I'm also eating this chicken salad any chance I get -- on carrot sticks, pretzel thins, or gluten free pita chips. anticipating | I'm anticipating our Colorado trip so very much. We are currently en route to Atlanta and should be on the ground in Denver by mid-morning. We're headed to Red Rocks for The Head and the Heart Concert tonight (woohoo!) and have a super fun, adventure filled week ahead. Time away with your spouse is so important and we try our hardest to plan a long weekend trip every year. We'll be celebrating our FIFTEENTH wedding anniversary next week, so this seemed ...
Our Annual Beach Trip | Part Three
The weather might have been touch and go for a few days, but I'm so glad we decided to tough it out. Our last two days in the sand were so beautiful and there wasn't a complaint heard either day! Because of the storm ruining our mid-week plans, Jen and Allen decided to extend their trip by a few days and got to join us on the beach again for the weekend. There is nothing better than having plenty of kids to play with and the company was pretty much perfect. Josh and I joked on the way home that the only way to know if they really enjoyed the week was if they decide to coordinate our trips again next summer. Ha! These four kids played so well together on the beach all weekend. Jud is obsessed with Ella, so he was pretty much holding her hand at all times. Aside from reapplying ...

I was a bit of a procrastinator this month and relied on the "I can read a book in a day" mantra to get something read before our post went life. This month's prompt was to tackle a summer read and to me, that means a fast-paced page turner, preferably in the suspense or thriller category. I've read plenty of those this summer and they almost never disappoint. I had one more reserved for our trip next week, but I decided to pull it off the shelf early and dive in for our link up today. That means I'll be hitting up the bookstore later this week for the perfect airport read. Any ...
