Remember last summer when I shared a few posts (here and here) about what Ella was reading? I really want to be better about sharing books the girls are loving, because I get questions all the time about how we encourage the girls to read and what books we recommend. As a part of Tyndale's Book Blogger program, we'll have an opportunity to read and review some of their children's titles over the next several months and I'm thrilled to share the first round with you today. Yes, we received these for free ...
Readathon Recap
Disclosure: Affiliate links appear in this post. Any purchases made using these links will earn Taz + Belly a small commission. You can read more about our affiliate relationships here. I was hoping to have a Readathon Recap for you on Monday, but it was... well, it was a Monday. Instead you get two book posts in one day. I'm mostly sharing details of the day, so check back early next month for a review of everything I read in October. I really had no expectations for Saturday. We didn't have plans for the weekend, so I knew it was a great day to plan to read, but how in the world could I pull off a 24 hour stretch?! I made a few plans to keep things on track, but I also made a few changes along the way. It was much darker (and colder) than I expected at 7 am, so I scrapped my early ...
How Many Books Could You Read in 24 Hours?!
Disclosure: Affiliate links appear in this post. Any purchases made using these links will earn Taz + Belly a small commission. You can read more about our affiliate relationships here. How many books could you read if you had an entire day to devote to nothing but reading? I'm not sure what my number is, but we're about to find out. I'm sure I could find something else to do with my time. There are a whole list of projects that need tackling and I'm always behind in some area of housekeeping, but since the Dewey's Readathon only happens twice a year and I've never been able to participate before (because: children), I'm taking it as a sign that I had nothing much on my agenda for Saturday. I'm under no illusions that I'll be able to read for the full 24 hours, but I'm setting a ...
The Daily Dime | October 2017
Saturday was such a blessed reprieve from the craziness of the last month. I had planned to go into the office on Sunday, so I knew Saturday would be a mix of errands and laundry and playing catch up. Fortunately, my work project got moved around a bit and Saturday turned into a day of rest and playing a much more fun version of catch up. The kids spent the night with my parents in the camper on Friday night. They made s'mores and ate pizza and watched movies. That meant I got to sleep a little later and, fortunately, the furriest member of our family slept late, too. After drinking an entire pot of coffee all by myself, my mom and I ran to a local yard sale. I didn't buy anything, but she picked up some pretty towel hooks for the barn and then later a sweet friend delivered these ...
Little Letters | October
Disclosure: The following post includes affiliate links. Any purchases made using these links will earn Taz + Belly a small commission. You can read more about our affiliate relationships here. Dear Taz + Belly, I promise I'm back. I have no idea why I haven't wanted to blog (or come out of hibernation for anything other than a good book) for the last month, but I worked on a content calendar this week and I'm spending my Saturday taking photos and getting posts ready for October and November. Dear Small Group, I love you so much more than I expected. Making new friends as an adult is hard, but so rewarding. Dear Beartown, You were so good. SO. GOOD. Who would have thought I would love a book about hockey and rape culture?! Five stars all the way. Dear The Office, Why did it ...
Ella’s Golden Birthday Session
I am the luckiest girl in the world to have this pretty girl as my daughter and this one as my sister and best friend. Armed with a knockout model and the best photographer in all the land, I get to have annual photographs that look like this! My sister was sweet enough to take Ella on a little adventure after school, so that I could finish preparing for her surprise party last month. It was the perfect excuse to get her out of the house for a few hours and to have my sister work her magic. It has been several years since we did individual photo sessions of the girls and I wanted to capture this little moment in time. Ella is right on the edge of being more than a child, but not quite a teenager. She has the most hilarious sense of humor and the greatest laugh (as evidenced in a few of ...
The Monthly Report | October
Remember that time I decided introductory paragraphs were unnecessary and that the time I stressed over what to say was better spent doing something else? Well, I'm still firmly in that camp. Welcome to The Monthly Report -- two days late, but totally necessary since I've been avoiding the internet like the plague. Shall we?styling | I'm styling tons of cute fall outfits, but only in my head. While it feels nice and crisp when we first wake up every morning, by mid-afternoon we're simmering at 85* again. It looks like fall outside, but unless you're heading out after dark, shorts and tanks are still completely appropriate. I've been saying for weeks that I was going to share a fall wish list on the blog, but it's seriously hard to shop for cozy sweaters and jackets when it's still so humid ...
What I Read in September
Disclosure: Affiliate links appear in this post. Any purchases made using these links will earn Taz + Belly a small commission. You can read more about our affiliate relationships here. When I look back at September it was a hard month. We had a lot going on in our family and I just felt out of sorts for most of the month. My mom and I have talked about that a lot in the last few days and while I'm still not feeling back to myself exactly, I'm vowing to get myself together and to enjoy October. The upside to down days in September, is that I got a lot more reading done that I usually do. On top of the seven books I'm sharing today, I ended the month about halfway through both an audio selection and a paperback. I have some great things in my to be read pile and I'm looking forward ...
