I've always been a little embarrassed to admit that Jeremiah 29:11 is my favorite verse -- it seems overused and feels a little cliché to offer it up as my life verse. There is something about it, though, that speaks exactly what I need to hear, every single time. "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:11-12 I've been feeling a little overwhelmed lately. A lot, if I'm being honest. It feels silly to admit out loud, given the very charmed life that I live. I used to be organized and on top of things and together. After having a second ...
The Daily Dime | November 2017
Right before the holiday season begins, our church shares a series called At the Movies. Each Sunday, for four weeks, the pastor uses a popular movie to illustrate a redemptive message. Not only do the adults love it, but the kids' department follows the same formula. They always have movie characters in the lobby as we're checking in, so Sophie stopped by for a photo with Nemo. She artfully snubbed Iron Man and Anna (from Frozen) on the other side. Ella started coming into "big church" with us over the summer, so she is excited to enjoy grown up movies this year. Josh had a few errands to run after church, so we drove separately and I offered to take the girls to breakfast. Ella voted for Panera Bread and Sophie wanted iHop, so I was forced to be the tie-breaker. I headed for ...

I pinky promise, I have no intentions of offering a gift guide for every day of the week, but much like yesterday's Advent Calendar Roundup, this post was born out of necessity. Sophie got a new pair of holiday pajamas at a Hanna Andersson event over the summer, but Ella desperately needs some and I really like it when they have a matching pair. I may or may not be able to get away with the long john style for Ella this year, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Here are fifteen of my favorites from another late night shopping adventure. 01 | Mini Boden Nutcracker Nightgown ($42) 02 | Mini Boden ...
16 of My Favorite Advent Calendars This Christmas

A recent addition to our list of annual holiday traditions is using an advent calendar throughout the month of December. While we do have a faith based one that we read through as a family, I also like having something with small gifts for the girls to enjoy every morning before school. A few years ago, our elf delivered advent calendars on the last day of November and it was a huge hit. I've already started shopping for our calendars this year, but I've had a hard time finding exactly what I wanted. Unfortunately, most of the really pretty (and well priced ones) are made in the UK and they are either ...

Any purchases made using these links will earn Taz + Belly a small commission. You can read more about our affiliate relationships here. I had such a great time putting together gift guides for last year's holiday season, but this year, I wanted to focus on a few areas that I've noticed are missing in the gift guide blogosphere. When looking for faith based gifts for your friends, small group leaders, or other women in your life, it can often be really challenging to find something that is both beautiful and meaningful. That's why I've done some internet sleuthing on your behalf. Here are fifteen great ideas -- plus a few bonus finds! -- and ...
The Monthly Report | November
realizing | I'm bummed that I can only squeeze three workouts a week into my schedule right now, but it is literally all that I can manage. I was working on my workout schedule this morning and realized that this month is going to be pure torture when it comes to surviving the gym. Apparently November is "row-vember" at my gym and rowing is my least favorite thing to do in the world. I better have some serious leg definition, come December. stirring | Can we all say a collective amen that it is finally soup season? I was never a big soup eater until I started eating paleo, but since then I've tried to embrace the idea, because it's so easy. I'm working on my meal plan for the month and our Creole Jambalaya and Potato Soup will be in heavy rotation. I'm also looking forward to trying a ...
What I Read in October

If it weren't for our 24 hour readathon, October would have been a complete bust when it comes to reading. It didn't feel super busy, but I couldn't find the extra minutes in every day to read like I normally would. Maybe it's because we've been binging The Office or because I've been swamped at work, but I'm hoping to redeem myself a little in November. 52. A Happy Halloweekend
When it comes to Halloween costumes, this was one of those perfect years. Neither girl requested a store bought costume (not that there's anything wrong with that!) and they both had strong opinions about what they wanted (or did not want) to be. Sophie was digging through a bin of old dance costumes when we cleaned their room a few weeks ago and declared that she should wear one of them for Halloween. This turquoise ballet costume was her favorite and when I asked what she thought it looked like, she yelled Tooth Fairy without a second of hesitation. We managed to pull this costume together for a steal and she was so happy with how it turned out. We had just added the crown headband to our donate pile that same day, so we decided to hang onto it for a few more weeks. We grabbed the ...
