I'll let you guess where I found this little vignette over the weekend... I'll post a follow-up photo to clue you in. If you want to continue living in ignorance of our family secrets, don't come back! ...
Belly-ache a Comin’
We don't eat a lot of candy in our house. It's not that we don't love it, but none of us like to share it (!) and we really try to get Ella to be a good eater. When there is junk in the house, it's the only thing she wants. If we only have veggies and whole-grain bread, she eats it just a heartily. We don't let her have soft drinks, ever. She only eats "junk" and sugary snacks on special occasions. Well, yesterday was a special occasion... it was two days after Halloween! For our afternoon snack, we threw on an old t-shirt, rounded up all the leftover Halloween candy and had a feast. When we asked if she wanted it, she told us that it wasn't "yours (mom) and yours (dad)" it was for Ella and she was going to "eat it all done!" We had a chat about sharing. Then she said, "but you don't ...
Semi-Silent Sunday
So glad that Daddy's home... it's time for beauty salon! Watching cartoons with Beemer Big-girl breakfast Ella doesn't pose well for pictures Snow princess ...
Everyone…
Today were all at home. All of us. Every one! This is the first weekend that I can remember when Josh, Ella, Beemer and I didn't have anywhere to be. We convinced Josh to watch football at home so that we could spend the day in our jammies, drinking coffee, making cheese toast and doing lots of snuggling. Boy have we missed our daddy! Here is the daily recap: While I was blogging and enjoying my first cup of coffee this morning, Ella was indulging in donuts and watching Franklin, Beemer was playing outside and Daddy was still snoozing. Ella came running to me and said, "Is Daddy at home?" When I told her yes she wanted to wake him up. After he wiped the sleep out of his eyes, Ella gave us all lessons on how to use her Disney flashlight. By "us", I mean Daddy, Mommy and Bunny. That's ...
Two Minnie Mouses!
Happy Halloween! Last night was a weird sort of holiday for our family... for once, we weren't all in the same place. If you know anything about my family, you'll understand why this is such a strange thing. Josh, K and I worked at our church's annual Trunk or Treat, Cory worked at the drive-in, while Gran, Poppy, Molly & Ella went to Birmingham to see Disney on Ice. I know she's only two, but how fun is that? Now she doesn't really know anything about Disney characters except: Minnie & Mickey Mouse are on her diapers, K & Cory brought Minnie ears from DisneyWorld this summer, the Disney Princesses are on her pull-ups and of course, the Jungle Book. Thank goodness, this production included Baloo, Mowgli and the monkeys -- my child was in heaven. She & Molly were both ...
Daddy, come home
Dear "my Daddy", We really miss you, please come home. We miss how you are snuggled in the bed with Beemer when we leave in the mornings. And how you don't get mad when we wake you up to say, "I love you. See you this af'ernoon." We miss how you play hide and go seek. And beauty shop. And how you don't cry when we're really rough with your hair. We miss how you feed us dinner and get us out of the highchair {even though while you've been gone we started eating in the booster chair}. We miss how you buckle us in and out of our car seat. We miss cutting grass with you. We miss how you give us pretty pink manicures every Friday night. We miss snuggle time and John & Kate. We miss 1, 2, cha cha cha. We miss and love you VERY MUCH!!! Love, Ella {and Mommy... and ...
Don’t Make A Mess!
Y'all, seriously. I don't know what to do about this dog! I've hired a "dog walker" - Karson, my cousin - to play with her every afternoon and she still creates this mess a few days a week. She's running out of things to destroy in my laundry room. The funniest part about this whole saga is Ella's reaction when we get home in the afternoons. The laundry room is one of the only doors in the house that she can open without assistance. She turns the knob and marches in to see what mess is waiting. It would be SO much better if you could hear her sweet voice, but she either says "Beemer no make a mess!" or " Beemer make a mess!" It is so cute that I have a really hard time being upset with the dog in the process. Today Ella saw the mess, made her declaration and promptly put her hands on ...
Reorganize, Reuse and Repurpose
For those of you who really know me, you'll know that I have a bad habit of redecorating my house. I don't necessarily mean painting or buying new things, just moving everything around. In early September while getting ready for Ella's birthday party, Josh and I rearranged our living room furniture. At the time it seemed cozy and fresh. As much as I enjoyed the new arrangement, I couldn't help but wonder where we'd put the Christmas tree next month (yes, I decorate in November) and I hated walking in the front door and looking at the back of the couch. Since all I've been thinking about since the birthday party was crafting, my housekeeping really fell by the wayside. As a result, it has been a wreck. It hasn't only been cluttered and messy, but really dirty, too. Since I've taken an ...
